The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet performs a program including music
from The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote: Words and Music from the
Time of Cervantes, with acclaimed actor Phillip Proctor as narrator.
With a nearly 30-year performing history, the members of the Grammy
Award-winning quartet continue to set the guitar-ensemble standard
for expression and virtuosity. Over the course of more than a dozen
recordings, they have established themselves as both masters of the
classics and creators of a unique blend of world music and contemporary
styles. Their Telarc recording LAGQ's Guitar Heroes won a Grammy for
best classical crossover recording in 2005. The Los Angeles Times
enthuses, "The world's hottest classical ensemble or its tightest
pop band? However it helps you to think about the LAGQ, keep the
emphasis on superlatives for its unrivaled joy, technical elan,
and questing spirits."
Program:
Manuel de Falla, "Danza Ritual del Fuego" from El Amor Brujo
Georges Bizet (arr. W. Kanengiser), Carmen Suite
