"LIVE FROM THE ISLANDS"  RETURNS LIVE AT THE WHIDBEY ISLAND WRITERS
CONFERENCE THIS SATURDAY, NOON-2PM

"Live From The Islands," with co-hosts Judith Walcutt and David Ossman,
returns to KSER 90.7 this Saturday, March 6, from Noon until 2:00 PM, with a
live broadcast from "Studio B" at South Whidbey High School where the annual
Writer's Conference takes place this weekend.

Judith and David will open the "Islands" microphones to song and story,
romance and glory, aliens gory and other genres of fact and fiction and the
voices of their writers and readers together, as they rarely are, in one
place at one time.  The hosts agreed, "We had to make this broadcast to
share our weekend at the Writer's Conference with Live From The Islands
listeners."

Conference participants who might drop by to share war stories, creative
visions, and ways to escape detection until the last Chapter, include
featured speaker, novelist Nancy Kress, poet Marvin Bell, P.R. man Milton
Kahn, songwriters Rick & Janis Carnes, the prolific Eva Shaw (who promises
to reveal her secrets for being that way), "Murder She Wrote" writer Tom
Sawyer and famed detective novelist Sara Paretsky.

Lively discussion about the joys and perils of the writing business is the
order of the afternoon.  It's lunch break at the Writer's Conference.
Listen in and be a fly on Studio B's wall.  To break up lunch, David
promises to wind up the Audiola and play some vaudeville variations on
Willie The Shake, Top Banana of Avon.

The next "Live From The Islands" special is scheduled for April 24 from
Greenbank Farm for the Burning Word Festival, sponsored by the Washington
Poets Association.  Judith and David will co-host a two-hour program of
poetry and music in performance.

Ossman and Walcutt will be among several community radio hosts when "Live
From The Islands" and KSER visit The Seattle Folklife Festival over the
Memorial Day weekend, May 29-31.

Live coverage of the three-day Folklife Festival will be heard on Community
Radio stations from Bellingham to Olympia, all serving a mission to
entertain and enlighten their local audiences independently of mass media
and to continue the tradition of local coverage, public access, and training
that community radio established over 50 years ago.
