"NO BAND IS AN ISLAND," THE "LANGLEY ALL STARS," AND
GEORGE TIREBITER'S "MAX MORGAN, CRIME CABBY,"
IN A BIRTHDAY PARTY ATMOSPHERE


LIVE FROM THE ISLANDS continues this Saturday afternoon with two hours of 
music, comedy and conversation live from the Edgecliff restaurant in 
Langley on Whidbey Island.  The program can be heard live on KSER 90.7 FM 
and on the internet, www.kser.org from Noon until 2pm PST.  Hosts are the 
husband-and-wife team of David Ossman and Judith Walcutt, joined by travel
journalist Sue Frause and Jim "Conductor of Fun," Freeman.  Regular "Island
Time" treats include Miss Sylvia's Chicken-Fried Sheriff's Report, Sue's 
"Rock-On Tour" of the week, Judith's Weather Haiku, and Ossman's Weekly 
Audiola Calendar.

	December 6 LIVE FROM THE ISLANDS presents a rousing birthday party
with "No Band Is An Island" in a program of original tunes for a variety of
instruments and voices, performed by Randy Hudson, Siri Sobottka, Devin 
Ossman and Linda Morris.  Appearing in the program's second hour are the 
Langley All-Stars, with Bif Dangerfield, Lorraine Newland, Steve Boyce, 
Brian Dinkel and special guests Danny Ward and Cynthia Smithers.

George Tirebiter, radio and screen celebrity and former Surrealist Party 
Vice Presidential candidate, will return to the air in one of his 
distinctive radio roles, co-starring with Jim Freeman and Rick Ingrasci, in
the 1950s hard-boiled radio spoof "Max Morgan, Crime Cabby."  Mr. Tirebiter
and David Ossman are both celebrating their birthdays this weekend.  Ossman
and his son Devin will present their version of Lord Buckley's "Hip Pied 
Piper,"  for voice and flute.

December 13 will be the final live broadcast from the Edgecliff for 2003.
Among the talents already scheduled are composer-songwriter Tina Lear with
a "cabaret set" of songs drawn from her three CDs and her three musicals 
that have been in production this year.  Michael Nutt, whose virtuoso 
violin has been heard in classical concerts, the Djangofest and backing the
dancing at Fezziwig's "Christmas Carol" party, will lead a performance of 
Haydn's comical "Toy Symphony. Peggy Taylor and Charlie Murphy join us to 
talk about their work with The Power of Hope program for young people.

The final programs of the 2003 LIVE FROM THE ISLANDS season will be on 
December 20 and 27 and will include evening concerts recorded at the 
Whidbey Island Center for the Arts during last July's Choochokam Arts 
Festival.

LIVE FROM THE ISLANDS will not be broadcast from the Edgecliff during this
Holiday hiatus, but will return on Saturday, February 7.  During January, 
David Ossman will bring "Ossman's Audiola," his popular eclectic music and
comedy "record show" to KSER listeners on Saturdays, Noon to 2 pm.  The 
"Audiola" will continue to feature music by Whidbey and other Island 
artists and to sample the unusual and limited edition CDs of music, comedy
and audio theatre that make up a large part of the "Audiola Archive."
