||||||||| At 8:00 PM, the lights go out! Rocky Rococo's voice pierces the inky darkness: "I've got you now, Tweeny!" Shattering glass is heard, and then the lights come back on...
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, January 15, 2026 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!" -- then he looks around at the empty room, looks at his watch, and mumbles "...am I early?"
||||||||| Catherwood stumbles in at 8:00 PM, dragging Deputy Dang by one foot and asks "Can anyone vouch for this yo-yo?"
||||||||| At 8:00 PM, Deputy Dang dashes out the door saying "Hey, mister ice-cream man, I've got a nickel, wait for meeeee..."
||||||||| Catherwood leads cease in through the front door at 8:00 PM, picks up his cues (only slightly scorched), and heads for the billiard room.
cease: Hi all
cease: My dad was Ralph's competitor.
||||||||| Catherwood enters with Beet close behind, grumbles something about disrupting his 8:00 PM tree-stunting plans, and dashes off to the Aviary.
cease: Beet
Beet: Greetings, Folks!
Beet: Hi, cease. How are you?
cease: not bad
Beet: It's very cold here. Must be there also.
cease: not so bad today. first day it hasn't rained in a while.
Beet: We even gt a little bit of snow today.
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood intones: "8:00 PM and late as usual, it's Mutt, just back from Funfun Town."
cease: we had snow for a few minutes last week
cease: Hi mutt
Beet: Hi, Mutt.
Mutt: Hey Cease, Beet and Deputy D!
Mutt: Chat main page sez no one is chatting. Thought I might be 5he first one here.
cease: at least 3 of us are here
Mutt: Are we? Are we really? ;)
cease: i just watched a clip from Charflie Angus about deep fakes
Mutt: Scary stuff
Mutt: Just ask Melania …
cease: i fell for the rachel maddow bot.
cease: very persuasive
Mutt: What is that?
cease: Charlie Angus is a Canadian politican who is the main voice of resistance in Canada
Mutt: No, the bot
cease: i watch a lot of Ukrainian news on youtube and she has a big presnce thered, but it's not her
Mutt: Ah. That is scary.
cease: tis. Charlie also showed an Anderson Cooper bot
Mutt: Zombies - She’s Not There
cease: indeed
cease: i just began a project marrying Firesign bits with art
cease: fom the many, many photos i've taken in art galleries, etc.
Mutt: *Art! I’m gonna get you!*
cease: i've posted 2 to 4 of the Firesign Facebook groups
cease: did'nt i post my email from Ossman on chat last week
Mutt: I believe you did
cease: he wants to see a Firesign doc, but Bruce Snyder need to convince him how much visual material will be needed
cease: i'm doing my part
Mutt: Use studio photos from the production of each album or radio show. Still photos can be used quite effectively.
cease: ask that cop that's knocking at your back door
cease: yeah, there are a lot of pix.
Mutt: Use them
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Open up, your door knocker fell off!"
cease: they just have to really interesting.
Mutt: Woven with the appropriate audio they will be.
cease: BE really interesting.
cease: that would be the idea, mutt
Beet: I 'm going to have to exit for awhile. I have to bring some food to a sick friend I'll try to get back a little later. 'Bye.
Mutt: Be safe Beet!
Mutt: Cease: What I meant was even seemingly ordinary stills can come alive when married to the proper audio. Not sure I expressed that well initially
cease: byew, beet
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "The future ain't here yet, man!"
cease: i agree, mutt
Mutt: Lots of pix = an opportunity
cease: When my wife and I were in Europe in 2002 and shooting video, i often Firesign lines pop into my head
cease: This is a continuation of that.
Mutt: I admit I used a few Firesign lines in my job on occasion. They always seemed appropriate.
cease: My Firefox just updated and now I can't get back to my desktop
Mutt: Filthy browser scum!
cease: i'm going to restart my computer.
Mutt: (While w wait fir Cease to rematerialize lets see what tonight’s contestant won)
||||||||| Catherwood trudges in at 8:00 PM, dragging cease 2 by one leg and asks "Can anyone vouch for this bozo?"
cease 2: successful.
Mutt: Well done
cease 2: Bergman's memorial was called Bergman
cease 2: Big Bouhaha
cease 2: My friend and I drove down from Vancouver to Kirkland. When we told the custiomsa dude we were going to a big brouhaha, he wasn't impressed
Mutt: I tried to get tix to the LoC event with Os and Phil but couldn’t. I live about an hour away.

cease 2: it's just as good online
cease 2: this is their most beatles-drenched album
Mutt: Yes. It’s fun
cease 2: Have you read Paperback Writer?
cease 2: A faux bio of the Beatles. Funniest book I
cease 2: i
cease 2: I've ever read
Mutt: Do not think I have. Sounds like the Rutles and I do know them
cease 2: by Mark Shipper.
cease 2: I used this scene in one of two new Firsign/Art marriages on Facebook
Mutt: Alas I do not use facebook
cease 2: Oss and Proc are on it constantly.
cease 2: I just started posting to Substack last month, as Cat Ishikawa
Mutt: *sigh* Yeah I know. I miss lots of other stuff, too. But I have zero social media presence and that’s fine with me.
cease 2: i get a lot of benefit from it.
cease 2: Interesting people saying interesting things.
Mutt: Which is why you do it and good on you. For me it is disconcerting.
cease 2: Like Steppenwolf's Magic Theatre: Not for Everybody.
Mutt: I just prefer life without it. Simpler.
cease 2: I'm terrible at promoting my stuff.
Mutt: Well a substack gig might help you there
cease 2: that's the idea.
cease 2: I mostly follow people posting from Ukraine, or About Ukraine.
cease 2: My new play is about Ukraine.
cease 2: Twewen is supposed to be producing it now.
Mutt: He shall be known ad The Tween of Tweens
Mutt: as
Mutt: My apologies, Lord Tween XD
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "The future ain't here yet, man!"
cease 2: but it's getting closer
Mutt: Is your new play an audio only production?
cease 2: yes
Mutt: Very cool
cease 2: although if i live long enough to go to Ukraine after the war, I can see it as done on stage there.
Mutt: My son was there about two weeks before the invasion began
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 1 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
cease 2: wow
Mutt: Yeah
cease 2: The Firesigns really liked this collage
Mutt: He had a gig there that started two weeks before the invasion and ended about a week before.
Mutt: What I do know for sure is that as soon as he got home it was already a mess and the location where he had been working was gone.
cease 2: wow
Mutt: The two groups could have done some interesting stuff together
Mutt: Smothers and FST
cease 2: indeed
cease 2: did you see that biopic about harry nilson?
cease 2: i htink he's more famous for heckling the smothers along with a very drunk john lennon than for his music
Mutt: No I didn’t see it. I know Nilson for his music. Love The Point.
cease 2: sad movie.
Mutt: Me and my Arrow
cease 2: not sure i saw it.
Mutt: Animation film for ABC television (US) from early 1970s. Brilliant.
cease 2: it must be on youtube
Mutt: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Point!
Mutt: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Point!
Mutt: Not sure why the exclamation point isn’t part of the link
cease 2: i change he word puma to putin
Mutt: It sounds good!
cease 2: yeah, i'm happy with it.
Mutt: Well I’m definitely enjoying it
cease 2: this is my favourite non-Beatles lennon tune
cease 2: this is a recreationg of john and harry hecking the smothers
cease 2: amazing to hear a phil ochs song on amercian tv
Mutt: Sorry. Have two geriatric pups and had to deal with stuff
Mutt: All is well, now
Mutt: That was fun
||||||||| Outside, the 8:00 PM downtown bus from Funfun Town pulls away, leaving Deputy Dang coughing in a cloud of diesel fumes.
cease 2: i guess that's the show. dwarf next week
Deputy Dang: Thanks for the show! Cat, I loved the collage! Cheers!
Mutt: Thanks Cease for the collage. Really enjoyed it.
cease 2: see you hear next week
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Why does the porridge bird lay his egg in the air?"
||||||||| "8:00 PM? I'm late!" exclaims Deputy Dang, who then rushes out through the french doors and down through the bushes.
||||||||| cease 2 departs at 8:00 PM, singing "Toad away, toad away; toad away, toad away! Where do you go when you're toad away?"
Mutt: Up up and away
||||||||| "Hey Mutt!" ... Mutt turns, and sees Bradshaw approching with the handcuffs, and is dragged away, screaming "it's only 8:00 PM, I don't have to go yet!"...
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 2 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
