||||||||| Tweeny leaves to catch the 8:00 PM train to Billville.
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, September 04, 2025 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!" -- then he looks around at the empty room, looks at his watch, and mumbles "...am I early?"
||||||||| Catherwood leads Deputy Dang in through the front door at 8:00 PM, picks up his cues (only slightly scorched), and heads for the billiard room.
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Deputy!
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 11 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Deputy Dang: Clowns to the left of me! Jokers to my right! Here I am! Stuck in the middle with me!
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood pipes up: "8:00 PM and late as usual, it's cease, just back from Funfun Town."
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Tweeny!
Deputy Dang: Howdy, cease!
Deputy Dang: Oops--no Tweeny yet.
cease: Hi Dang
cease: sometimes he's here, sometimes he's not.
||||||||| "8:00 PM? 8:00 PM!!" says Catherwood, "llandmark should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as llandmark enters and sits in the comfy chair.
Deputy Dang: Howdy, llandmark!
cease: hi lland
llandmark: goodevening
cease: it could be
llandmark: the name les crane sounds vagely fmiliar
cease: yeah he was a thing long ago.
llandmark: very vaguely
cease: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Crane
||||||||| Mutt sashays in at 8:00 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
cease: hi mutt
Mutt: Hey Cease, Deputy and Llanogoshen
Mutt: Half a-stoned and very sleep. My apologies to all
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Mutt!
||||||||| Catherwood leads Beet in through the front door at 8:00 PM, picks up his cues (only slightly scorched), and heads for the billiard room.
Beet: Hey, gang!
Mutt: Namaskar Beet
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Beet!
Beet: Hi, cease, Deputy, llan, Mutt.
llandmark: what has happened to our friend, Tweeny?
cease: Beet
Deputy Dang: Maybe he's back to that work schedule that doesn't leave him available during the show?
cease: what has happened to your nose? probably working tonight
Deputy Dang: That's a long way of saying, "I don't know."
llandmark: didnt know about that, Dang
Mutt: Hey everybody, I saw a record labeled -Bob One for A-1” recently. It has commercials by the lads from the 1960s. Anyone familiar with this? It is listed in their discography.
llandmark: I have only a few hours left to be sixty-three years old and I have this Beatles song going through my head
Mutt: Yeah, hope Mr. DJ is ok.
cease: it must be in Jack Poet Loves YOu, mutt.
cease: it's a compilation of all their real ads
Mutt: Happy birthday to you, you old fart XD Welcome to the Club!
llandmark: thank you mutt. I have been in the club a long time
Mutt: Thanks Cease! Seeing the record reminded me but I couldn’t figure out where it would be in the releases
Beet: Yes, a Very Happy Birthday, llan!
llandmark: what, mutt? are you saying you are sixty three as well?
Mutt: Yup
cease: i had no idea how many commercials they did
llandmark: Thanks, Beet
Mutt: A proud but doubting member of generation jones
cease: laast night, i met my grand daughters who play Filomena and Petra in my recent work. i want them to do the Dave's Not Here routinve from Cheech and Chong, only Dave is replaced by Hitler.
||||||||| "8:00 PM? 8:00 PM!!" says Catherwood, "DJTweeny should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as DJTweeny enters and sits in front of the fireplace.
DJTweeny: evenin' folks
Mutt: Yay!
Beet: Tweeny!
DJTweeny: So how's everybody doing?
cease: Old Character enter
DJTweeny: Got to over 100 here today
cease: my back is in so much pain I can barely stand up, but aside from that, not bad
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Tweeny!
Mutt: Worrying about you, you naughty boy! Now, upstairs and remember to wash behind your kneees befir supper!
DJTweeny: but super-low humidity, thankfully
DJTweeny: more like Arizona heat
DJTweeny: lol Mutt
Mutt: Sorry cease. That’s not good at all.
DJTweeny: Damn, Cease, sure hope you get some relief soon :(
cease: well, i've had back pain for 40 years and been doing exercises for it, but they no lnoger work.
DJTweeny: ehhh
Mutt: Stenosis?
cease: i had planned to travel in october, but travel now means getting in and out of a chair
cease: doc gave me some ointment but its efficacy has diminished
llandmark: and I thought I was having a miserable heat wave
Beet: Very sorry to hear this, cease.
Mutt: Tell me to F-ck off if this is too personal - what is your back issue?
llandmark: in the nineties here in florida and humidity with it
cease: i've done a lot of writing on my new play, starring Llan. so I need to be i good enough health to continue writing
llandmark: back issue who?
cease: lower back pain
cease: lol
llandmark: oh has it been that long. it has all but faded away
cease: endless back exercises does not strengthen my back.
llandmark: bu thanks very much for asking
Mutt: Yeah - what js it? Spinal stenosis? Disc? I have some real knowledge medico-wise
cease: don't know.
cease: it moves around. it has mostly been on my right side but today mostly on my right side. spine also seems off.
Mutt: You need an x-ray if you don’t know. I went from immobile to pain free (mostly) simply because I got an x-ray after years of pain.
cease: mostly on my left side before, right side today
||||||||| Catherwood ushers Tweeny in through the front door at 8:00 PM, picks up his cues (only slightly scorched), and heads for the billiard room.
cease: will look into that soonest.
Mutt: Just knowing what it looks like inside can absolutely determine what therapy to pursue.
cease: it feels like the same pain i had after i wrenched my knee in vegas last year. so i suspect some muscle annoyance
Mutt: Me-excruciating to not without surgery or anything invasive. The proper stretching exercises are miraculous, but the wrong ones kills you
cease: i've been doing back exercides for 40 years but now can't because pain is too intense
Mutt: Knowledge is power
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "I see you are a sailor."
llandmark: interesting. I had some tests done the last few days. I was afraid it was a kidney stone but apparenty it is nott
Mutt: Please get an x-ray. Nothing more than that. Then proceed as indicated. It coukd be that simple and I hope it is.
cease: will do
Mutt: It can be counterintuitive. One of the tip two exercises for your back? Push ups. NEVER do ANY sit ups.
Mutt: And sorry for getting into it like I did. I just know what itbis like.
cease: 40 years of back pain and now it's worsening, so, something must be done
Tweeny: Hard to enjoy your travels if the back isn't working properly :/
cease: yep
cease: spain bus trips were painful but the rest of the trip was pain free, including lnog plane flights
llandmark: I was taking opiates for my back pain.
Mutt: Good vibes only coming your way
cease: i may ask my doctor for such
llandmark: I would recommend it, cat
Mutt: Llan - i did too. They helped but gotta be careful and get to the root causes
llandmark: percocet taken as directed has a good effect
Beet: Bodies are not user friendly.
cease: getting in and of a chair can be done, with not so much pain. getting out of bed is immensely difficult
cease: true, beet
llandmark: I had that problem too, getting out of bed
llandmark: somehow the paid is all but gone now
DJTweeny: good to hear, llan
cease: i will call my doc tomoorrow.
llandmark: I meant pain
Mutt: Yay!
cease: we know
cease: old age is not our friewnd
Mutt: Beats the alternative
cease: true
llandmark: I am going to feel a whole year older tomorrow
Mutt: Most days ;)
Tweeny: Mutt: Beats the alternative << yep ;)
cease: inspite of all the pain, i am generally in happiness, because of what i'm writing in the new play
Mutt: Good on you!
cease: Hitler's not here
Mutt: Llan: I am going to feel a whole year older tomorrow << As the great Ian Dury said, “All I want for my birthday is another birthday.”
cease: I thikn Beet is the oldest person on this chat, right?
||||||||| Catherwood walks in wearing his pyjamas, yawns, and mumbles "It's midnight here in New York city"...then he falls over and starts snoring loudly..
cease: I have looked and felt old for a long time
Mutt: You lookmpretty long here, to me …
cease: i was here on this chat from day one, 30 years ago
Mutt: Wow
Mutt: Is this your recording, cease?
Beet: 78 years around the Sun.
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Heavy on the 30 weight."
Mutt: All hail Lord Beet! The Sun King!
DJTweeny: and the remaining Firesigns are in their 80s
DJTweeny: Almost 90 for Ossman, right Cat?
Mutt: 1936
DJTweeny: Yeah, so 90 next year
DJTweeny: pretty amazing
Mutt: Wow, Tween. Hadn’t really considered that before
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "What about my pickle?"
cease: He was born in 1936. Wrote a wondrous poem about it
cease: best poem i've ever encountered.
Mutt: Akk of them were silent generation babies
Mutt: All
cease: never had much experience with psychedelics. they just didnt work for me. you?
Mutt: Yes but no.
cease: cannabis is an old friend, but that's it.
Mutt: Me too
Beet: That time again. Gotta go. This was fun as per usual. Nice to see everyone. Have a great weekend. See you next week. G'Nite.
Mutt: Be well Beet!
cease: my body hated coke and acid did notihng for me. mushrooms allowed me to see patterns, but not important ones
cease: by beet
Mutt: Man, hope I’m here when I’m beets age
cease: well, he's only 4 years older than me, but I wonder if I can live that long.
Mutt: Coke was antithesis of what I was looking for. Psychs were too much of a time investment. Mushrooms were fun a couple of times but not a regular kind of thing
cease: we have parallel experiences
Mutt: I hope you’re here when you are Beet’s age!
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Inferior people should not be employed."
cease: my daughter and her friends got some benefit from mushrooms and my wife saw interesting patterns too
cease: that's only 4 years from now.
cease: i've been here since day one.
Mutt: Oh I had one particularly memorable couple of days on some excellent shrooms. Still vivid 40 years later. But that was enuf
cease: yeah the good experiences are remembered
Mutt: Sweat lodge kind of visions and images. More than I can process in one lifetime. Never saw the need to revisit after a point.
cease: on mushrooms, my carpet revealed many wondreous patterns
Mutt: A thumbprint on a wall pulsed to 3-D life and began moving, amoeba-like across the wall
cease: i've had equal vaguely hallucinatory experiences on cannabis
cease: that's what it's supposed to do, mutt
Mutt: Lol!
cease: it's as if dreams invade wakefulness
Mutt: But which is which?
cease: have you seen the flick Paprika? it's about that.
Mutt: No. I’ll have to lookmout for it
cease: my fave flick
cease: when it came to theatres here, the paper said, "get out the good drugs"
Mutt: Have you ever seen La Jetee? Short but memorable
cease: One of my faves
cease: REALLY love that flick
Mutt: It’s utterly amazing
cease: it changes how you think of cinema
Mutt: Absolutely. Everything you know is wrong
cease: kind of goddard-like in its still images combined with speach, but much better
llandmark: I have seen la jettee but not paprika
Mutt: Whenever I try to describe it I fail miserably. It has to be experienced.
cease: true
cease: llan, paprika is probably in your local library, if not streaming
Mutt: Wiil look out for Paprika.
llandmark: why is it called a film when it is a bunch of stills?
cease: the bigger the screeen you see it on, the better
llandmark: I will look for pparika too
Mutt: Well, a cave is just a whole lot of side …
cease: everything you know of film is wrong
llandmark: lol mutt
Mutt: I think that is onne of their best lines xd
llandmark: is paprika an american film or hungarian?
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "I see you are a sailor."
Mutt: Lsva lamps and roach holders for everyone!
cease: Japanese. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paprika_(2006_film)
llandmark: catherwood give everybody a microdot
||||||||| Catherwood gets everybody a microdot.
cease: one of their first plays
llandmark: thanks for the link, cat
Mutt: Thaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnkkkkkkkssssssss ..
cease: ablout as good as cinema gets
DJTweeny: I love Tom Lehrer :)
cease: when i saw that flick in a theatre, after seing a Monet show at the local artr gsallery and ingewsting all the good drfugs, i thought, ok, that;s btter than i can do, but i shoud aspire toi thst
DJTweeny: Such wonderful comedy music
Mutt: Ever see Dark City?
cease: no
Mutt: Twisted and dark but some great performances and a mind bending concept
cease: will look into it
cease: anime?
Mutt: Not anime. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_City_(1998_film)
cease: looks interesting
Mutt: It will not waste your time
cease: my time will be happy
Mutt: One of the very few movies I ever went to see based only on a chance review I read.
cease: are you listening to this lindset buckdingham tune?
cease: amazing
Mutt: I’m not a FM/LBfan but the boy can play. If anything I am more a peter green fan
Mutt: In terms of FM
cease: don't want to hurt no kangaroos
llandmark: peter green was before my time
cease: yeah, oh well is one of my faves
Mutt: Mine, too, but I spent a lot of time going back in time.
Mutt: Don’t apologize for nuthin in terms of what you like musically. I appreciate LB tremendously, just not my normal thing. Who cares what I think but me?
llandmark: interesting to know you and I are the same age, mutt. I thought I was the kid around here
llandmark: I got into firesign about ten years after its inception
cease: 77?
Mutt: FST baptism in 1974 courtesy my local public library - Dwarf.
llandmark: yep
cease: wow
Mutt: The cover hot me. I was a huge comedy fan (Marxes, Fields, Tomlin, Carlin, Pryor)
Mutt: Got me.
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Scalp 'em, Tantric!"
cease: i am a little closer to the begininng. 67 ob KRLA
Mutt: Drove my patents nuts. Other kids were listening to music. I’m listening to Redd Foxx.
llandmark: imagine redd foxx would drive most parents nuts
llandmark: I
cease: i was in 11th grade and my friends told me to listen to krla on sunday nght in ap[ril, 67, changed my life
DJTweeny: kewl
Mutt: This is how bad I was. Got my dad to take me to an adult club to see Foxx in D.C. when I was 15 and looked 10.
cease: wow
Mutt: My dad was the best
cease: good for you
cease: my dad was pretty good too
Mutt: I was lucky and knew it. He was a good man who cared about nothing but his family.
Mutt: I’m glad to hear it. As you know, it makes a difference.
cease: a good description of a good man
Mutt: My wife married me because she adored my father. He never had much but he made you feel special.
cease: That's a skill
Mutt: One that I did not inherit XD
cease: My father spent his life selling. He was good at it.
Mutt: Need some good empathy do do that well for so long.
cease: Yep
Mutt: To do
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 8:00 PM and llanwydd sashays out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
cease: by llan
DJTweeny: or hi even

DJTweeny: Thanks for listening everybody!

DJTweeny: kewl
Deputy Dang: Great show! I liked the collage, Cat!
llandmark: Thanks again, Tween and Cat
Mutt: Thanks Cease for the good listening!
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Open up, your door knocker fell off!"
cease: i do my best, dang
cease: off we flee
||||||||| "Hey cease!" ... cease turns, and sees Bradshaw approching with the handcuffs, and is dragged away, screaming "it's only 8:00 PM, I don't have to go yet!"...
Deputy Dang: Goodnight all!
||||||||| Deputy Dang leaves at 8:00 PM, singing "Oh, I'm just a little fishy, floating in the sea, and there ain't no hook that's smart enough to catch the likes of me..."
Mutt: Adios amigos!
llandmark: nite everybody
||||||||| Mutt departs at 8:00 PM, singing "Toad away, toad away; toad away, toad away! Where do you go when you're toad away?"
DJTweeny: Until last time, again...
||||||||| DJTweeny leaves to catch the 8:00 PM train to Funfun Town.
||||||||| llandmark leaves to catch the 8:00 PM train to Billville.
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 1 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| It's 1:15 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| llanwydd - dead from the fiddlers
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| It's 1:45 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Beet - dead from intense demonic possession
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 2 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 3 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 4 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| It's 4:00 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Tweeny - dead from Globner's disease
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood pipes up: "8:00 PM and late as usual, it's Tweeny, just back from Funfun Town."
||||||||| Tweeny hurries out the back door as Mayor P'nisnose blasts through the front door holding a shotgun and shouting "Where's Tweeny?! It's 8:00 PM and my ballot boxes haven't been stuffed yet!"
||||||||| Catherwood enters, and announces to all and sundry "It's 4:31 AM, time to change the log file and clean out unused rooms; please exit the chat room for a minute or two. Thank you for your patience."
