||||||||| It's 6:30 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Tweeny - dead from the yaws
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, August 21, 2025 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!" -- then he looks around at the empty room, looks at his watch, and mumbles "...am I early?"
||||||||| Catherwood strides up and intones "Presenting 'DJTweeny', just granted probation at 8:00 PM", then leaves hurriedly.
||||||||| Catherwood stumbles in and snorts derisively "Presenting 'Deputy Dang', just granted probation at 8:00 PM", then leaves hurriedly.
Deputy Dang: Howdy, DJTweeny!
DJTweeny: Howdy Deputy :)
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 11 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| Catherwood accompanies Cease into the room, accepts a wooden nickel as a gratuity, mutters something about 8:00 PM, then departs.
DJTweeny: Oops, the PD has put up a rebraodcast :(
DJTweeny: allo Cease
Cease: HI all
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Cease!
DJTweeny: OK, it's NOT a replay :)
DJTweeny: He just had the announcement wrong ;)
Cease: What is it?
DJTweeny: This is FST/NPR Earth Day
Cease: sounds like barnstormer
DJTweeny: used it as an opener
Cease: why don't i know this?
DJTweeny: Sure, it's the Rev. Barnstormer character
||||||||| Catherwood walks up and intones "Presenting 'Tweeny', just granted probation at 8:00 PM", then leaves hurriedly.
Cease: this sounds like Southpark
Tweeny: Do you have this in your collection? "Firesign - Earth Day 2003"
Cease: no
Cease: this is new to me
DJTweeny: hmmm, wonder where I got it from
Cease: i'll record it from this.
||||||||| Beet steps in at 8:00 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
Cease: HI Beet
DJTweeny: yo Beet
Beet: Howdy, Folks!
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Beet!
Beet: Hi, Cease, Deputy, Tweeny.
Cease: stop reading, you're going to hurt yourself. my dad used to say that.
||||||||| 8:00 PM: Mutt jumps out of the hall closet saying "I've been listening to all of you talking about me for the past hour!"
Mutt: Boo!
Cease: Mutt, meet Mutt
Beet: Hey, Mutt.
Mutt: Hiya, Mutt!
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Mutt!
Mutt: Grid evening all
DJTweeny: I just emailed it to you, Cat
DJTweeny: is telus working now?
Cease: thanks
DJTweeny: if not I'll send it to gmail
Cease: no. i'll call them tomorrow.
DJTweeny: OK, I'll send it to your gmail account
Cease: The last time I had this problem, i was told to switch to Chrome and it worked. This time it did not.
Cease: i know the Hopi speech. it's quite famous
Cease: Oh this is the RFO rebroadcast of the KBOO show.
Cease: Tom Gedwillo played this recently on Facebook.
Cease: He's the curator of the RFO collection
||||||||| Catherwood sneaks into the room, and announces "Announcing 'llanwydd', also known as 'Nancy' -- the time is 8:00 PM" -- then he slowly retires back into the anteroom...
Cease: Hi llan
llanwydd: jazz for industry
DJTweeny: Hey llan
Beet: Hi, llan.
Mutt: Hey llan!
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "You guys are nothing but a pack of cards."
Cease: This sounds a lot like the way they talked to each other in the Fools in Space shows
Mutt: Yep. It do
DJTweeny: Hey Mutt
Cease: oh this isn't KBOO
Cease: KBOO is something else
Cease: The door that is never open or closed
DJTweeny: This is what I have under the file names Talking Over Each Other
Cease: jump you fuckers. i must have edited that.
DJTweeny: So it's RFO?

DJTweeny: Yeah, this file is marked as edited
Cease: but they are connected.
Cease: i may have this.
Cease: sounds Very familiar.

Mutt: Which book?
Cease: Anythyne You Want to
Cease: thier shakespeare play
Cease: with more footnotes than script.
Mutt: Oh. Thanks. Therer are other hardbound books by them.
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Ersatz Brothers Coffee, the REAL one!"
Cease: such as?
Cease: i must by the 2 books bruce snyder put out, of thier movie scripts
Cease: get
Mutt: The first edition of Marching to Shibboleth was hardbound but recalled. There are also hardbound editions of Barbecue Sauce and Exorcism.
Mutt: The last two came out years after the original softcover editions.
Cease: i did not know that.
Cease: i had no idea there was a market for that
Mutt: It is strange. Bear Manor started offering HB editions a year or so ago. I picked them up to go with the softcover editions.
Cease: occupy wall street was started by my magazine, Adbusters
Mutt: Marching has two first edition states, one HB and one softcover.
Cease: much as i'd love to see the script for EYK, i did not buy Marching.
Mutt: You’d have to buy the softcoverversion - it was not in the original HB version
Beet: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-big-suitcase-of-1969-an-overstuffed-screenplay-by-the-firesign-theatre-firesign-theatre/1146490693
Cease: i will buy the Snyder books. eventually. they're quite expensive
Mutt: I haven’t decided on those myself.
||||||||| "8:00 PM? 8:00 PM!!" says Catherwood, "Denbo should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as Denbo enters and sits on the couch.

DJTweeny: See ya next time Denbo
Mutt: Herman Cain
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Wake up - and consider your only logical choice."
Cease: You have to be into American politics to know who he was.
Tweeny: Rick Perry was of course Governor of Texas
Mutt: He had his fifteen minutes and then some
Cease: i vaguely remember that, tween.
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Not to be torturing me!"
Cease: i met jim hightower on a cruise. the one Texan politician have met.
Mutt: This would have been the lead up to the 2012 race. Perryhad some juice but it evaporated quickly
Tweeny: Hightower was a very interesting guy
||||||||| 8:00 PM: MarkTime jumps out of the hall closet saying "I've been listening to all of you talking about me for the past hour!"

||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "I had to think for a minute ... what cruel game was he playing?"
Mutt: I like hearing the uneditedtuff
Cease: yeah, this will require some editing.
DJTweeny: RFD's program director likes to make the FCC happy ;)
DJTweeny: an we try to be a 'family firndly' radio station
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Close the door, and the light stays on!"

Mutt: Nashville is an all time gret flick.
Cease: Next week, folks
Tweeny: that's part of the fun of it, one would suspect :)
||||||||| Deputy Dang leaves to catch the 8:00 PM train to Funfun Town.
Mutt: Be well everyone
Cease: yeah, i never know where inspiration will come from
Cease: off we fly
||||||||| "8:00 PM? I'm late!" exclaims Mutt, who then runs out through the french doors and down through the bushes.
||||||||| "8:00 PM? I'm late!" exclaims Cease, who then runs out through the french doors and down through the brambles.
