||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Gusts of wind blow in from outside and the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa of helicopter blades is heard as Happy Panditt's chopper lands on the lawn and Deputy Dang gets out at 8:00 PM.
Deputy Dang: It's me again. I was just checking if there is a show tonight, and if so, what it is. Cheers! I'll check back at 8:00 PM, as always!
||||||||| Deputy Dang rushes off, saying "8:00 PM? Mark Time is almost on! Where's a radio?"

||||||||| Tweeny leaves to catch the 8:00 PM train to Elmertown.
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, July 03, 2025 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!" -- then he looks around at the empty room, looks at his watch, and mumbles "...am I early?"
||||||||| Catherwood accompanies Deputy Dang inside, makes a note of the time (8:00 PM), then fades off into the distance going on about the waiting room or the sitting room or something.
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 11 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| Catherwood accompanies Cease into the room, accepts a grimy quarter as a gratuity, grumbles something about 8:00 PM, then departs.
Cease: Hi everybody
Cease: You read this really well, Tween.
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Cease!
||||||||| Beet waltzes in at 8:00 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
Beet: Hi, Y'all
Cease: Or has he been blown away with the dust?
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Beet!
Cease: The Beet Man. Jack Kerouak with Kale?
Deputy Dang: Tween was in earlier, posted the heading, and was out.
Beet: Hi, Deputy, Cease,
Cease: The problem with this chat is when us old chatters die, there's no one left.
Cease: Chat, and concern with Firesign, will dissappear
Beet: A sad commentary indeed.
Cease: True, Beet.
Beet: At least the Library of Congress will have them.
Cease: They provide so much, so many entrances into wisdom, the less they're known is bad for our species
Cease: unless trump shuts it down. don't underestimate trumpzilla's destruction.
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "It was hotter than Hooker in Heater today, and hotter than Heater in Hellmouth."
Cease: i'm thininkg of the burning of the library of alexandria by christian fanatics
Beet: If Trump disbands Congress, will the library still exist?
Cease: your country is dissolving before my eyes
Cease: 76 per cent of Canadians have cancelled their trips to the US.
Beet: If I had money I would consider living somewhere else.
Cease: canada and much of europe is expensive. but consider options.
Deputy Dang: Canada and much of Europe include healthcare.
Beet: Maybe New Zealand
Cease: yes. my wife and i have spent zero dollars for it for decades and i broke my arm last year. would have cost a fosture in your coutnry. free health care is just common sense
Cease: bergman loved new zealand. as he died, he told his daughter to take his ashes to either new zealand or syria. she said, "no fucking way"
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Train's comin' through - right now!"
Beet: Not a lot of that going around. Common sense, that is.
Cease: true, alas
Cease: my new play is about, how keeping hitler in jail permanently would have prevented ww2, so i'm doing a of research on weimar germany.
Beet: It sounds like Billville wants to move also.
Cease: evil never dies. true
Cease: LOR stressed thst. Even after Sauron was extintinguieshed, evil was not, and perhap, cannot be
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "It goes in - it must come out."
||||||||| Catherwood sneaks into the room, and snorts derisively "Announcing 'Tweeny', also known as 'Nancy' -- the time is 8:00 PM" -- then he slowly retires back into the vestibule...
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Tweeny!
Cease: the tween!
Tweeny: Evenin' Dear Friends :)
Beet: Hey, Tweeny.
Tweeny: and Happy 4th Of Julie!
Beet: Maybe Independance needs to be declared again.
Cease: indeed, beet
Tweeny: I'll be getting a new scooter this coming week, and this time it will have MUCH better security devices including GPS tracking that I can watch on my phone.
Cease: great, tween
Cease: theft is ubiquitous
Tweeny: The police told me that bike/scooter/motorcycle theft is rampant in Austin
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood announces: "8:00 PM and late as usual, it's DJTweeny, just back from Elmertown."
Deputy Dang: I keep thinking of getting something like that, but I'm confident it would be stolen.
Cease: Have we noticed a general increase in theft and violence whre you live? Very true in Vancouver
DJTweeny: A neighbor had his Corvette stolen from the parking lot also
Cease: in van, it's because criminals are not locked up, thart's the theme of my new play. my daughtr's killer got away with it. it continues
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Let me hear it for me!"
DJTweeny: Hard to protect your possessions if someone is really determined to steal what you have, but we can keep trying to use better security
Cease: indeed, tween
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Decode your answer now."
Cease: we cannot prevent random violence to destroy those we love
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Get on it and do it every day!"
DJTweeny: That was a car crash, right Cat?
DJTweeny: I love this infomercial parody
Cease: https://www.moniqueishikawa.com/
Cease: the killer was high on ephedrine, a drug supposed not capablle of generating hallucinatrions
Cease: but she esscaped 20- years in jail by claiming momentsry madness from ephedreine,a commmon drug
Cease: been used by humans for thousands of years
Deputy Dang: Wikipedia has a list of positive things, but it does say hallucinations can happen. Still, it seems like a stretch. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ephedrine
DJTweeny: Nice little dig at Whoopi Goldberg there ;)
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "And you can believe me - because I never lie, and I'm always right."
Cease: firesign friend doctor, officiali medicail dude for arizona where the killer lives, told me psychosis from ephedirine is not a defence in arizona
Cease: he firesigns must have had a bad expereinece with Whoopy, but that was like cutting off your nose to spite your face. just stupid.
DJTweeny: and they apparently rubbed Lily Tomlin the wrong way also, correct?
Cease: true
Cease: they REALLY blew that.
DJTweeny: Do you know what happened?
DJTweeny: some comment about feminism?
Cease: proc/berg were on tv already so the llili tomlin show could have been a breakthrougoh
Cease: they talked about it somewhere, tween. they fucked up and austin knows it.
Cease: i think a riff on mentruation. sank theirTV career forever
DJTweeny: ehhh
Cease: i almost had a radio show in japan that would have been listned to millinos of peope, i owuld have played firesign.
DJTweeny: would have been pretty amazing
||||||||| Catherwood steals into the room, and intones "Announcing 'llanwydd', also known as 'Nancy' -- the time is 8:00 PM" -- then he slowly retires back into the vestibule...
llanwydd: howdy
Cease: well, i did not introduce as such, but promoted the awareness of firesign in japan in the early/ mid 70s. i havce promoted firesign almost as long as there has been a firesign
Cease: hey lllnabn
llanwydd: according to ossman, they hated television
Cease: hey lland. i'm going to meet a 14 year old boy this sunday and i'm thinkning of having him play hitker
||||||||| Catherwood walks in wearing his pyjamas, yawns, and mumbles "It's midnight here in New York city"...then he falls over and starts snoring loudly..
Deputy Dang: Howdy, llanwydd! I didn't see you come in.
Cease: llan always slips in through th4 back door
llanwydd: an adolescent hitler. very interesting
DJTweeny: Hey llan
Cease: did you see the recent flick about hitler? really good
llanwydd: up against an elderly einstein?
Beet: Hi, llan.
llanwydd: hey everybody. happy third.
Cease: your einstein was him from 1938 when he could have met my mother who was livig with said uncle then. einstiein and my uncle were freiends
Cease: llabn, beet, dang. there are fewer chstters here than fingers on s hand
DJTweeny: a small but appreciative audience
llanwydd: I would have liked to meet him. but I cant imagine what we could have talked about
Cease: as it were
DJTweeny: but I'm pretty sure lots of people listen to the archives, even if they can't make the chat
llanwydd: I do
Cease: i have met firsign guys s few times, and it was always oddly transactional. they would be in my plays and i would do good things for them.
llanwydd: I met the two phils. I would have liked to meet the others
Cease: i shared a joint with them and the girl i was with on new year's eve, 1969, played them on my radio show in ottawa then.
llanwydd: while I was waiting to meet peter, his parents were being escorted backstage
Cease: where was this, llan?
llanwydd: town hall, nyc
Cease: aha
Cease: just watched Anors. I enjoyed both NYC and Las Vegas.
llanwydd: I asked austin. wheres catherwood? which may have been a gaff
||||||||| Catherwood walks up to llanwydd and says "My ears are burning..."
Cease: Good flick, but I wouldn't reccomend it.
llanwydd: but both phils gave me their autograph
Cease: Also watched Chinatown for a new collsge. Both flicks quite depressing., Fuck that.
Beet: It's that time gain. Must go. Enjoyed the evening. Nice hanging with you fine folks. Have a great evening and weekend. See you next week. G'Nite.
llanwydd: good to see you again beet
Cease: Bye Beet
llanwydd: nite
llanwydd: yeah, I enjoyed chinatown but I dont need to se it again
llanwydd: see
Tweeny: Yeah, Chinatown has a pretty depressing ending
llanwydd: let it be the icon that it is and the feather in polankis cap
Cease: no shit. Anora too
llanwydd: never heard of anora
llanwydd: I imagine that roman polanski has probably been depressed for most of his life
Cease: flcik of the year accoridng to the Oscars.not bad as i love both NYC and Vegas, but wold have preferred to not have seen the flick
Cease: if you do good stuff, and then do worse stuff off line, the bad cancels out the good'
llanwydd: I dont know about that
Tweeny: He got convicted of statutory rape, right?
Cease: michale jackson for example.
llanwydd: aha
llanwydd: I missed the words off line
Cease: he liked to fuck 7 year old boys. that cancels out whatever music.
Tweeny: :-(
llanwydd: but should the accusations against woody allen cancel out the enjoyment he has given to the world?
Tweeny: Hadn't heard he'd actually been convicted of that
llanwydd: not that I believe the accusations
llanwydd: I think some of the accusations against mj are false as well
Cease: yes, llan. on one level .it provides another way of what we value and why we vlaue it. if the best picture we ever saw was made my hitler, would that cancell his attrocities? no.
llanwydd: especially the one that cat just mentioned
llanwydd: woody allen is a different matter than hitler
llanwydd: woody gave the world a lot more happiness than hitler ever did
llanwydd: I believe in fair measure on these things
Cease: in a sense. the germans sure got off on his fantasy reich. disneyland for nazis. your country is going thatr direction now. as a canadiani and part of the Ukrainian diaspora, i am hsrmeed, but Ukraine is brave
llanwydd: fair measure, cat. our president. not our country.
llanwydd: hate to call him my president though
Deputy Dang: It's in everybody's decaf, honey.
llanwydd: yes ukraine is brave.
llanwydd: rolling dead.. lol
Tweeny: Ukraine's Nazi problem is real, even if Putin's 'denazification' claim isn't - https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/ukraine-has-nazi-problem-vladimir-putin-s-denazification-claim-war-ncna1290946
Tweeny: and that is all I have to say about that...
llanwydd: immortaility was the first cd I ever bought. I was late to the party
Cease: you ae indeed new to firesign llan.
llanwydd: ten years earlier a friend of mine told me that albums were going to go the way of eight-tracks
Cease: i've been a fan since the mushroom plays of 67
Tweeny: Eat Or Be Eaten was one of the very first CDs I bought :)
Cease: some of the firesign stuff is from my recordings
llanwydd: first I ever heard was two places
Deputy Dang: I bought EOBE looking forward to the video/images on the CD. I was never able to view it though. I actually saw it on YouTube in the last few yearss.
Cease: i'm glad but confused thart i had taped shows and now they can be heard, but from my recordings, not others better sources
llanwydd: first album I mean
llanwydd: I miss album covers
Cease: yeah
llanwydd: fst had very few gatefold covers
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "These insignificant lumps came together..."
llanwydd: insignificant lumps. that was random
Tweeny: I had a LP copy of How Time Flys with the unfolding diorama (sp?) :)
llanwydd: never saw that, tween. I only have a cassette copy
llanwydd: I bet it explains a lot about the story
llanwydd: or made it easier to follow
Tweeny: A bonus with this record, along the lines of the postcards from the Fingerprintz record that I would never be able to punch out: a 3-D diorama of Mark Time descending from the zeppelin over Panoramaland 2000. - https://vinyldistractions.com/david-ossmans-how-time-flys/
llanwydd: thanks for the link
Tweeny: yw
Cease: we will play ossman's diary of this next week. he asked me to produce it
llanwydd: fantastic artwork!
llanwydd: cat, you lucky dog.
Cease: ok, tween?
llanwydd: I would love to even speak to ossman. never had a chance
Cease: not a dog, but am indeed lucky. meetig my wife was an act of awesome luck
Cease: met him many times
Cease: Dave and his young son Orson starred in my play Red Shift
llanwydd: In my opinion, ossman was the best writer in the group, although proctor was the best actor
llanwydd: and in my opinion the writing is possibly more important
Cease: they could always really write
llanwydd: probably, in fact
llanwydd: and I liked his characters the best
llanwydd: wasnt orson in neal amid as well?
Cease: all good characters
Cease: no
llanwydd: who was the kid?
Cease: my daughter bit was in it
Cease: my friend cliff kahn's sons, in LA
llanwydd: my kid brother?
Deputy Dang: that was fun
llanwydd: great scene
llanwydd: sure did
Tweeny: Everybody have a great week :)
llanwydd: yeah, thanks cat. and tween
Deputy Dang: Thanks Cease! Thanks Tweeny! Thanks llanwydd! Thanks Beet!
llanwydd: thanks dang
Cease: off we drift
Tweeny: Until last time, again...
||||||||| At 8:00 PM, Tweeny scurries out the door saying "Hey, mister ice-cream man, I've got a nickel, wait for meeeee..."
||||||||| Around 8:00 PM, Deputy Dang walks off into the sunset...
llanwydd: deadful greats
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 1 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
llanwydd: nytol
||||||||| llanwydd is kicked out just as the clock strikes 8:00 PM.
||||||||| It's 1:15 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| DJTweeny - dead from the yaws
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| It's 1:30 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Cease - dead from the common cold
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 2 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| It's 2:00 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Beet - dead from Globner's disease
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood enters, and announces to all and sundry "It's 4:31 AM, time to change the log file and clean out unused rooms; please exit the chat room for a minute or two. Thank you for your patience."
