||||||||| Tweeny says "Catherwood, call me a cab." After the obvious joke, Tweeny exits at 8:00 PM.
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, May 29, 2025 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!" -- then he looks around at the empty room, looks at his watch, and mumbles "...am I early?"
||||||||| Catherwood accompanies Tweeny into the room, accepts a $3 bill as a gratuity, grumbles something about 8:00 PM, then departs.
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood pipes up: "8:00 PM and late as usual, it's Deputy Dang, just back from Funfun Town."
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Tweeny!
||||||||| Outside, the 8:00 PM downtown bus from Elmertown pulls away, leaving Cease coughing in a cloud of diesel fumes.
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Cease!
Cease: Hi all
Tweeny: Howdy Cease, Dang
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 11 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Tweeny: and here we go...
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Decode your answer now."
||||||||| Outside, the 8:00 PM bus from Hellmouth pulls away, leaving Beet coughing in a cloud of diesel fumes.
Beet: Evening, Friends!
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Beet!
Cease: this is one of my favourite firesig bits. this is actually my recording off the air.
Beet: Hi, Deputy, Cease, Tweeny
Cease: this was the last show of Hour Hour series.
Tweeny: yo Beet
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 8:00 PM and JZip bounds out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
Deputy Dang: Howdy, JZip!
Cease: HI J
Beet: Yo, Zip.
JZip: Good evening, all!
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Decode your answer now."
Beet: Didn't work in the Navy. First thing they do is shave your head bald.
Cease: is there such a thing as naval reserve?
Beet: Surely.
Cease: the guys here are talking about the army reserve, not regular forces,eh
Cease: bergman was in the army when their first album came out.
Cease: he was at ft ord and then hitch hiked to berkeley and found Electrician in a record store
Tweeny: Hey JZip
JZip: Hi, Tweeny
Cease: Krassner was a friend. We did several books together
Cease: Amazing guy.
Beet: Peter really was a natural radio performer.
Cease: that we was. of course, his parents had a radio show, breakfast with the bergmans.
Cease: he was
Beet: Didn't know that. Interesting.
Cease: mchael packer sent we the air checks of this show and the nextg one.
Cease: prfoduced by tted bobbnit, who does the weekly kpfk now with proc
Cease: fingers not working so well
Tweeny: What's the problem, Cat?
Cease: who knows?
Tweeny: Cease: that we was. of course, his parents had a radio show, breakfast with the bergmans << Maybe that's where the skit 'Breakfast With The Brunts' (Pink Hotel) came from?
Cease: Just back from scary experience at car dealership. maybe still freaked out by that.
Cease: true about the brunts, yes
Tweeny: What hapened at the dealership?
Cease: long story.
Tweeny: ok
Beet: Buying a new car?
Cease: the car had its first insprection in its 10 year history on may 1. we were impressed. it feels like we're driivng a new car. then suddewnly this aft, afrter a short shoppng trip, 4 lights appearf on the dash, one of them blinking.
Cease: turns out theres a Serious transmission probelm and will costr a fortune to fix!.
Beet: bummer
Tweeny: ehhhh
Tweeny: what year and model is it?
Cease: when they charged us and arm and leg for inspection and repair four weeks ago, we were told car could be good another 7 years. didn't even last a month.
Beet: hot band.
Cease: 2015 subaruy imbrezza with low mileage. only one long trip, when we bought it in nov 2015.
Cease: what puzzles me is why they didnt catch that on their expensive inspection in on may 1?
Beet: Car ownership can be painful.
Tweeny: Cease: when they charged us and arm and leg for inspection and repair four weeks ago, we were told car could be good another 7 years. << Don't they have some responsibility for not having the problem then?
Tweeny: *not having found
Cease: anyway, the service manager ordereret the new parts, and said, dont' drive it very much in the next 2 weeks while we await parts.
Tweeny: dayum... sux
Cease: yeah, after initially quoting us $2400 for new repair, not they say it's free. that's a relief
Cease: now
Cease: but still, we're driving a car that could suddenly stop working at any moment now. that's fucked up
||||||||| Outside, the 8:00 PM downtown bus from Elmertown pulls away, leaving Llanwydd coughing in a cloud of diesel fumes.
Cease: Hey Llan!
JZip: trying to get custody of the child inside him!
Cease: How's it going, Einstein?
Beet: Hi, Llan.
Llanwydd : Having a power outage here very hard to chat. Just wanted to check in
Cease: chat while you can.
Cease: i have the same problems when i travel
Beet: Is the outage due to weather?
Tweeny: Sorry about the outage, llan, hope power is restored soon
Llanwydd : Can't use the computer not used to chatting on the phone
Llanwydd : Yes it's the weather
Tweeny: Cease: yeah, after initially quoting us $2400 for new repair, not they say it's free. that's a relief << Excellent. That's the right thing for them to do.
Cease: they said subaru suddenly doubled its warranty from 5 to 10 years. that was nice of them
Tweeny: hadn't heard that about Subaru, nice...
Cease: we stil have 5 monthes to go on the suddenly inflated warranty.
Beet: Do we know the name of this band?
Cease: eddiie vatos and the nervous brothers. bergman
Tweeny does not
Cease: pals. they did various things on his projects
Beet: Thanks, Cease.
||||||||| Catherwood enters with DJTweeny close behind, grumbles something about disrupting his 8:00 PM tree-stunting plans, and rushes off to the Aviary.
Tweeny: So you bought the car new, Cease?
Cease: speaking of the french revolution, is anyone else watching Careme?
Tweeny: I have not
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Let's stand him on his head!"
Cease: yeah. we got a fantastic deal.
Tweeny: kewl
Cease: very happy with this car. until this afternoon.
Beet: Haven't heard anything about Careme. What is it?
Llanwydd : What is careme?
Cease: he was the guy who basically invented french cuisine. during the napolonic era.
Beet: Oh, cool.
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "You guys are nothing but a pack of cards."
Tweeny: The Real Chef Who Inspired the Spicy Drama CarĂªme - https://time.com/7281753/careme-true-story-apple-tv/
Cease: the apple tv series is mostly him fucking and spying, where I'd rather see how he invented this amazinfg cuisine.
Llanwydd : The creme de la careme
Llanwydd : What you all listening to?
Beet: The trailer for Careme looks really good!
Cease: well, the trailer is far more beautiful than the series.
Cease: cardeme was the chef who basicllly invented haute cuisine.
Tweeny: Llanwydd : What you all listening to? << The show on RFD? It's Peter Bergman's Digital Diner
Llanwydd : So one man alone created all that food? I think we can credit Julia Child for some of it
||||||||| Beet1 steps in at 8:00 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
Beet1: Had to use a different name to log back in.
Tweeny: doppelganger Beet!

Cease: it was.
Cease: the public radio folks liked it, but didnt' offer the money to produce it, as i read Ted
Cease: i met ted bonnit at pete;s memorial and asked him about this. he was amazed that i'd heard it.
Cease: anyone still here?
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Shoes for Industry! Shoes for the Dead!"
Cease: there's some amazing stuff coming at the end of this.
Cease: this is it
Tweeny: Great suggestions for a show, Cat :)
||||||||| DJTweeny rushes off, saying "8:00 PM? Mark Time is almost on! Where's a radio?"
Cease: OK, you said we'd play part 2 of this next week, but i'm almost finished with my new collage which iis over an hour, so we should play that. some maybe morfe of this
Tweeny: Whatever you like
Cease: will try and have it finished soon. it's hearther cox richardson's recent speach at my alma mater, ubc last month
