||||||||| Around 8:00 PM, Tweeny walks off into the sunset...
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, May 01, 2025 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!" -- then he looks around at the empty room, looks at his watch, and mumbles "...am I early?"
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood snorts derisively: "8:00 PM and late as usual, it's Deputy Dang, just back from Billville."
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 11 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 8:00 PM and JZip sashays out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
Deputy Dang: Howdy, JZip!
JZip waves
JZip: What's up with you tonight?
||||||||| Catherwood accompanies Cease into the room, accepts three dimes as a gratuity, grumbles something about 8:00 PM, then departs.
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Cease!
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Why does the porridge bird lay his egg in the air?"
Cease: HI all
Deputy Dang: It sounds like Tweeny updated the audio but not the banner.
Cease: aha
Deputy Dang: Or maybe that was just an intro, and we get part 2 of the parade.
Deputy Dang: If we're in part 2, we left off at about 58 minutes, not 2 minutes.
Cease: we do
Deputy Dang: More like 1:03 into it
Deputy Dang: Ooh! Jack Hanna! I remember him.
Cease: the aninmal guy from Carson
Deputy Dang: ya
Cease: still here, zip?
Cease: guess not
Deputy Dang: Maybe his hand fell asleep.
Cease: that happens
||||||||| Catherwood accompanies Beet in through the front door at 8:00 PM, picks up his cues (only slightly scorched), and heads for the billiard room.
Beet: Hey, Folks.
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Beet!
Beet: Hi, Cease, Deputy, Zip.
Deputy Dang: We're at about 1:24 mark at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJrTdfuzQPs
Cease: Beety, How's it goin, Warren?
||||||||| "8:00 PM? 8:00 PM!!" says Catherwood, "Mutt should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as Mutt enters and sits in the comfy chair.
Mutt: Always wanted to sit in The Comfy Chair
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Mutt!
Mutt: Alright … I confess.
Deputy Dang: We're about at the 1:29 mark on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJrTdfuzQPs
Mutt: Hey DD! Or as Daffy would say, De Puty!
Cease: Hi Mutt!
Deputy Dang: That's me!
Cease: How's Smut? Still illegal?
Beet: Hi, Mutt
Mutt: Hiya Cease! Smut’s around here someplace
Cease: so is dust
Mutt: He’s never far …
Mutt: Lonseome B!
Cease: I just invited some people over, then noticed my room has been invaded by dust.
Cease: Just re-read KKD book on which Blade Runner is loosely based.
Mutt: My wife says not to look at our kitchen in the early am because that’s when the sunlight really shows up the dust
Cease: Most peolpe have left earth, so it's being filled up with dust.
Cease: i have to rely on light at certain hour to see it too
Mutt: We lives in our own sloughed debris
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Scene 3 - Take 600"
Cease: cobwebs too
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Train's comin' through - right now!"
Mutt: Yup
Mutt: Ever see Prometheus? When the alien seeds early Earth with his own DNA - we do that constantly
Cease: sounds familiar
Mutt: Sort of a pre-quel to Alien
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "I see you are a sailor."
Mutt: The balls are ckearing again!
Cease: sounds scary
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Scene 3 - Take 600"
Mutt: Clearing balls is not for the faint of heart
Cease: thee are marbles that appear cloudy
Cease: ive seen an increasing improvement in immersive art in the past couple of years
Mutt: My son went to an immersive Van Gogh exhibit and said it was mind blowing
Cease: i saw that. good stuff.
Cease: you aware of yoyoi kusama's infinity rooms?
Mutt: He surprised me with his interest, but I was very happy he was exploring art at all
Cease: i started taking my daughter to art museums as a toddler. by high school she was really artistic.
Mutt: Yes! Infinity in 2-D!
Mutt: Like an infinite hall of mirrors.
Cease: Saw an inferior varient of it in march, but saw kusama's in vegas 5 years ago, and more recently in Bilbao
Cease: the flickering lights in the omnipresnet mirrors.
Mutt: https://hirshhorn.si.edu/kusama/infinity-rooms/
Mutt: This is near wher
Cease: saw an even better version of that in Madrid at the Velasquez Tech museum, my fave in a city of museums
Mutt: This is near me and is amazing
Cease: tis indeed, mutt
Cease: did you see her biopic? quite an amazing life
Mutt: Wow. Hard to believe it could be improved upon
Mutt: No. I am only vaguely familiar with her art. I have artists in my family N
Cease: my point is there is a lot of this happening now. i've been to 3 Meow Wolfs and they're very much into thatr
Mutt: And all the DC art museums are free
Cease: i was in several when i was in DC in 05. fine museums all
Mutt: Being recently retired I hope to be able to get to see more art exhibits than I have been able to see in ages
Beet: Love D.C.
Cease: yeah a lot of the big musuems in madrid are free for seniors.
Cease: seniors are treated well there.
Deputy Dang: I don't think I will ever be able to retire.
Mutt: Some of the pre-Columbian exhibits in DC have been incredible
Mutt: I didn’t want to, DD. It was forced upon me.
Deputy Dang: When I get to that point, it will be homelessness forced upon me.
Cease: I stopped having to go to a job in 02. But I'm been busier since, then, only doing only what i waned to do, which is this show and other audio projects
Mutt: I sure hope not. That’s un-possible!
||||||||| Catherwood walks in wearing his pyjamas, yawns, and mumbles "It's midnight here in New York city"...then he falls over and starts snoring loudly..
Mutt: I haven’t listened to this in a long time
Cease: canada and your country are full of homeless, but i didn't see any in spain
Mutt: Sadly true. I live between DC and Baltimore. Baltimore’s homeless situation is frightening
Cease: i owrked in tokyo for many years and they had homeless people sleeping in the stations even in the 80s. maybe always
Cease: a very good movie about tokyo homelless: Tokyo Godfathers.
Cease: basede on 2 old hollywood flicks. one of my faves.
Cease: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_Godfathers
Beet: Well, this was weird and funny. Gotta go. See everyone next week. G'Nite.
Deputy Dang: G'nite, Beet!
Cease: by beet
JZip: Good night.
Mutt: Have a good one, Beet!
Mutt: Well, time to serve my canine over. Be well everybody. This was fun
||||||||| Mutt leaves to catch the 8:00 PM train to Billville.
Cease: by mutt
Deputy Dang: I think I'm having a flashback!
Cease: i brought forth the rose parade in the first hour, inspried by my use of that rose parade clip in this after i made this.
Deputy Dang: 2021?! This is recent!
Cease: what,dang?
Cease: this programme was broadcast on cbc a few weeks ago.
Deputy Dang: When she mentioned 2021, I realized that's COVID-19 timeframe.
Cease: ah
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "What's it all about, Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Smith from Anytown, USA?"
Cease: https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/audio/9.6409068
Cease: says it was first broadcast last year
Deputy Dang: This is interesting... I'll have to pay attention if I should love my sense of smell again, if it's not clearly COVID-related.
Deputy Dang: lose my sense of smell, not love
Cease: right
Deputy Dang: Porgie!!!
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "There's hamburger all over the highway in Mystic, Connecticut."
Cease: as mid 70s adults, my wife and i are constantly monitoring each other for signs of dementia
Deputy Dang: My girlfriend's mom has some sort of dementia, but denies it and hasn't been diagnosed. At least I don't think she has. Her brother is also having some dementia issues, but I don't know his status. (I live in Florida; they live in Ohio. So I'm not involved in day-to-day stuff.)
Cease: both my parents had it and my mother in law too
Deputy Dang: My grandmother had it. Most of the women in my family have died of cancer, and most of the men have died of alcohol, diabetes or heart disease.
Cease: smelling freshly cut lawns on my walk today was enchanting
Cease: one of the best
Deputy Dang: I'm going to resume my morning walks, just to pay attention to the smells.
Cease: you can always learn things
Deputy Dang: It should be good, since it's dark when I walk, other than streetlights.
Deputy Dang: It's also quiet, so my eyes and ears will have diminished input. I do know that I will smell the automated lawn sprinkler systems some homeowners have.
Cease: you're in DC?
Deputy Dang: Me? I'm in Florida, in West Palm Beach--almost smelling distance to Mar-a-Lago.
Cease: it was the last chatter who was in dc, right
Cease: must not be a very good smell
Deputy Dang: We talked about pets a few weeks ago. I'm thinking of finding a pet shelter to see if they need volunteers.
Cease: what a great idea
Deputy Dang: Having said that, I'm still unemployed, and need to find full-time work. I'll explain that to the shelter, so I don't leave them in a lurch.
Cease: good idea
Deputy Dang: That was good. I liked the collage--more scientific than usual.
Cease: will have new collage next week
Cease: aboujt bloopers
Cease: non stop laughter, no science at all
Deputy Dang: That sounds great! I look forward to it. Have a good night. Oh, heck--have a good week!
Cease: we all seek such weeks.
Deputy Dang: Is this Kathy Mattea?
Cease: don't know
Deputy Dang: Okay--ttyl!
Cease: nice, whoever it is
||||||||| Around 8:00 PM, Deputy Dang walks off into the sunset...
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 1 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Cease: bye
||||||||| Cease leaves to catch the 8:00 PM train to Hellmouth.
||||||||| It's 1:30 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Beet - dead from the fiddlers
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
