||||||||| Tweeny - dead from Globner's disease
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, December 05, 2024 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!" -- then he looks around at the empty room, looks at his watch, and mumbles "...am I early?"

Cease: HI Dang. The ghost of Tween
||||||||| Catherwood escorts llanwydd into the room, accepts a wooden nickel as a gratuity, mutters something about 8:00 PM, then departs.
llanwydd: howdy
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Cease! Howdy, llanwydd!
||||||||| Catherwood walks in wearing his pyjamas, yawns, and mumbles "It's midnight here in New York city"...then he falls over and starts snoring loudly..
Cease: HI Llan
||||||||| Catherwood accompanies Tweeny into the room, accepts a jar of pennies as a gratuity, grumbles something about 8:00 PM, then departs.
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Tweeny!
Tweeny: Hello all...
Cease: The Tweenster.
llanwydd: hey tween
Tweeny: Got a new video card installed in the music computer so we should be good for a new show next week :)
Deputy Dang: Excellent!
Cease: wonderful. My collage about Grace Slick is done. I'll send it to you in 2 parts.
||||||||| Catherwood enters with Beet close behind, mumbles something about disrupting his 8:00 PM tree-stunting plans, and scurries off to the anteroom.
Tweeny: Yo Beet
Beet: Evening, folks.
Cease: HI Beet
llanwydd: welcome, beet
Cease: This is the greatest poem I've ever heard.
llanwydd: great so far
Beet: Hi, Cease, Tween, llan, Deputy.
llanwydd: chasens is an interesting reference
llanwydd: I wonder if the place is still open
Beet: And a very Happy Birthday to Mr. Ossman.
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Beet!
Cease: 88 years old. Would make a good name for a car.
Deputy Dang: What? Ossman 88?
llanwydd: I drive an 88 maverick
llanwydd: 88 cylinder engine
llanwydd: he didnt look 88 when I saw him play ben bland
Cease: Born in Santa Monica on Dec 6, 1936, so eloquently captured in his poem
Cease: It was once feared that Dave would die and they would have to re-constitute the group His health was imperilled around the time of thier 1999 tour.
Cease: Yet he may be the last of them to die.
llanwydd: I dont think he should. that would be a bad career move.
llanwydd: he ought to keep recording the same great stuff forever.
Cease: did you hear my collage about Penn? he was a friend of Pete and remains a friend of Proc.
Cease: when pete died, penn had an obit. then austin died, he recylced it. i complaioned to him about that, asking him what he'd do when Proc died. Penn replied, Proc can't die.
Tweeny: haha
Deputy Dang: I have heard Penn talk of the Firesigns. I don't think I heard your collage about Penn though.
Tweeny: It's call Magic (correct, Cease?), and is available at www.kurtericson.net/cat
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "I had to think for a minute ... what cruel game was he playing?"
Cease: Ah Thanks, Tween I was looking for it but had forgotten its title.
Cease: https://s3.amazonaws.com/rfd-firesign/cat/magic.mp3
Deputy Dang: Cool--I'll listen to it in the morning!
Beet: I will tune in also. Sounds interesting.
Cease: Tween posted the collage archive above. hundreds of collages. i just make em, i don;t remember em
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "A stiff idiot is the worst kind."
Tweeny: ;)
llanwydd: firesign has quoted the book of the dead several times
Tweeny: and they were grateful
llanwydd: lol
Cease: lol
llanwydd: ossman has always been my favorite writer in the group
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "She's no fun, she fell right over."
Cease: they're all great writers
llanwydd: yeah they are but I think ossman was the best
||||||||| Elayne sashays in at 8:00 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
llanwydd: proctor was my favorite actor in the group
Cease: the most poetic, for sure
Elayne: Evenin' all, and happy early birthday to David!
Elayne: Also to my husband, who shares that birthday.
Cease: Welcome, El
llanwydd: Hi Elayne
Cease: Happy Birthday, Robin
Beet: Wow! Hi, Elayne!
Elayne: Hope all are well. Hey Cat, llan, Kurt, Beet, Dang!
llanwydd: ny god. a day that will live in infamy
Elayne: Not staying long, watching a PBS show in the other room about Indians and horses. Nothin' but Indians...
llanwydd: my
Cease: And hope wellness extends to you and Robin
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "What's it all about, Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Smith from Anytown, USA?"
Elayne: So strange, knowing horses are not native to the Americas but of course the Indians are.
Cease: did you watch ken burns' latest, about leonardo?
llanwydd: interesting elayne I did not know that
Cease: very inspirational
llanwydd: who brought the horses here?
Cease: the spanish?
Deputy Dang: Howdy, Elayne!
Deputy Dang: Yes, the Spanish brought the horses.
Elayne: Spanish conquistadors brought horses from Europe to the deserts and grasslands of western North America.
llanwydd: I cannot visualize the spanish riding horses
Elayne: Wasn't Cervantes Spanish? Look at just about any cover of Don Quixote.
llanwydd: oh yes, of course
Tweeny: Many of them escaped from shipwrecks and roamed wild
llanwydd: but he rode a different equine
Cease: he was indeed. i was reading Quixote when I was in Spain.
Elayne: Well, that's a horse of a different color.
llanwydd: lol
Cease: nobody can talk to a horse, of course
Deputy Dang: But you sure can lead them to water!
Tweeny: Except Dick whatever his name was
Elayne: You can lead a horticulture but you can't make 'er think.
Tweeny: "I amm Misterrr Edddd......."
Elayne: Going back to the horses. Be well, all!
||||||||| Catherwood says "8:00 PM, time for SOMEONE to leave!", grabs Elayne by the collar and gives 'em the old bum's rush out the door
Cease: you too, el
llanwydd: nite Elayne
Tweeny: sorry, Allan Lane
Tweeny: Hey Elayne
Beet: Nice to see you, Elayne. G'Nite to you.
Tweeny: Mister Ed - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054557/
Deputy Dang: The water in Santa Barbara is frighteningly cold.
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 1 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
llanwydd: well it is getting close to winter
llanwydd: I havent been to the beach in several days
llanwydd: could have gone today if I wasnt too busy
Cease: you're in Florida, llan?
llanwydd: still
Tweeny: They allow stills in Florida?
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "It goes in - it must come out."
llanwydd: I will be taking a trip back sometime this winter
llanwydd: lol, tween
llanwydd: I need to see a mountain again and I wouldnt mind seeing snow
Cease: only steven stills
llanwydd: crosby has to stay out
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Ersatz Brothers Coffee, the REAL one!"
Tweeny: go visit johan, who lives on a mountainside in NC
llanwydd: well yeah he is a little closer than ticonderoga but ...
llanwydd: there is one mountain in florida but it is less than five hundred feet high
Cease: how many of us are there, here regularly. 6?
Beet: That sounds about right.
llanwydd: hmm
Cease: including Not and a few others, 6 is my guess
Deputy Dang: I look forward to these evenings.
Cease: i try and do good stuff with these collages as the base material is so good and needs promotion
Beet: I do too.
Beet: Well, gotta go. Nice to see everyone especially Elayne. Again, Happy Birthday, David. G'Nite all.
Cease: by, beet
Tweeny: later gator
Deputy Dang: G'nite, Beet!
Cease: they weren't allowed on the radio cuz they said "urinate"
Cease: thre's me, 1996
llanwydd: they probably said your on in eight... but it was misheard
llanwydd: youre in eight scenes tonight
Cease: lol
Cease: df was their attempt to get on commercial radio
llanwydd: I lived DF when I first bought it and I had no idea it was a radio show
llanwydd: I thought it was just a bunch of sketches
llanwydd: loved not lived
llanwydd: forty great unclimed meodies was the highlight and that had nothing to do with the radio show
llanwydd: but it was the funniest sketch
Tweeny: One of my all-time favorites as well
Tweeny: It was Ossman who picked the sketches from the radio show series
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Offer not good after curfew in sectors R or N."
Cease: Doc Tech did a great job of creating DF too
Tweeny: Doc Tech made his own collection from the DF radio shows called Dear Friends Too, but they never released it
Cease: just do grass.
Cease: what would that mean, in a space capsule? surely not firing up a joint or bong
Tweeny: 'get mowed, man...'
Cease: it would have to be edibles, which were not much a thing in 73 when this was made
Deputy Dang: brownies
Cease: this is about as good as writring gets, eh?
Cease: the people i was lilving with in 72 found of abandoned stash of the weakest weed imaginable. we tried it in spaggheti sauce and it worked magicallyh. that was 52 years ago.
llanwydd: similar to my first experience, cat I first tried edibles when I was about sixteen. a friend of mine had made chocolate chip cookies
llanwydd: I went to his house to borrow an album and he was dancing a dervish to cat scratch fever by ted nugent and he gave me a couple of cookines
llanwydd: very weak weed but he used a lot
Cease: i have loved edibles to this day. stoned on em now
llanwydd: I went home with his live emerson lake and palmer album and kind of tripped out to it
Cease: my friends and i were watching the peter fonda western, for its name, and the fire they were watching assumed very interesting places. first edible and never looked back
Cease: i hadn't heard this collage in years. it's quite good.
Deputy Dang: i developed an immunity to weed within the last 2 years. It kinda sucks. :-/
llanwydd: I havent seen the peter fonda western
Cease: The Hired Hand. its' magically altering fire made me a life long fond of edibles
Cease: fan, which is close to fond, eh?
llanwydd: I have seen plenty of his fathers westerns
Cease: thre were a lot of them. the whole famly was a fountain of acting skill
llanwydd: I am not too familiar with jane except for on golden pond
Deputy Dang: ... and Barbarella, I would hope!
Cease: her role in They Shoot Horses is about as good as acting gets
llanwydd: I do remember seeing her in north vietnam on the ten oclock news back in the early seventies
llanwydd: singing Nothing could be finer than to be in indochina in the morning
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Won't spurt like the hosers!"
Cease: lol llan
Cease: ilove the smell of napalm in fhe morning
llanwydd: yeah how could I forget barbarella
Cease: did you see jane's biopic? pretty good, because her life has been extraordinary
llanwydd: but somehow I did
llanwydd: biopic? I didnt even know about it
Cease: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7689958/
llanwydd: thanks cat
Cease: the idea of knowing something is to share it with someone who doesnt have it yet
Tweeny: David's birthday is tomorrow, so an early Happy Birthday David! Hope you and Judith are doing well :-)
Cease: i'msure it will be happy
Cease: dave and phil have vast support
Deputy Dang: Thank you Tweeny and Cat! That was excellent!
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Wake up - and consider your only logical choice."
llanwydd: Cool
Cease: we doi our best, dang
Deputy Dang: G'nite all!
llanwydd: yeah, thanks cat and tween for another great chat night
||||||||| At 8:00 PM, the lights go out! Rocky Rococo's voice pierces the inky darkness: "I've got you now, Deputy Dang!" Shattering glass is heard, and then the lights come back on...
Cease: my new collage, about my recent affair with a grace slick bot, next week
||||||||| Cease rushes off, saying "8:00 PM? Mark Time is almost on! Where's a radio?"
llanwydd: got to stick around for the outro though
Tweeny: Until last time, again...
||||||||| Tweeny dashes out the back door as Mayor P'nisnose blasts through the front door holding a shotgun and shouting "Where's Tweeny?! It's 8:00 PM and my ballot boxes haven't been stuffed yet!"
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 2 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
llanwydd: nite folks
||||||||| Catherwood says "8:00 PM, time for SOMEONE to leave!", grabs llanwydd by the collar and gives 'em the old bum's rush out the door
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 3 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| It's 3:00 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Beet - dead from intense demonic possession
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood enters, and announces to all and sundry "It's 4:31 AM, time to change the log file and clean out unused rooms; please exit the chat room for a minute or two. Thank you for your patience."
