||||||||| It's 2:30 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Tweeny - dead from Covid 19
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 8:00 PM and Tweeny sashays out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, September 12, 2024 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!"
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 10 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 8:00 PM and Deputy Dang steps out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
||||||||| Gusts of wind blow in from outside and the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa of helicopter blades is heard as Happy Panditt's chopper lands on the lawn and Cease falls out at 8:00 PM.
Deputy Dang: Hola, Cease!
Cease : I’ll be on the road this afternoon. Will connect with chat when I can
Deputy Dang: Don't text and drive!
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 11 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| Catherwood stumbles in and snorts derisively "Presenting 'llanwydd', just granted probation at 8:00 PM", then leaves hurriedly.
llanwydd: hows everybody?
Deputy Dang: Cat is on the road. I'm doing okay-ish. I caught a cold/flu last week when I went on vacation. I'm mostly over it, but still not feeling great.
llanwydd: oh, yes. I remember
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood announces: "8:00 PM and late as usual, it's Beet, just back from Elmertown."
Beet: Good Evening, Friends!
llanwydd: good to hear you are on the mend
llanwydd: hey beet
Tweeny: Howdy all...
Deputy Dang: howdy, beet!
Beet: Hi, llan, Cease, Deputy, Tweeny.
llanwydd: hey tween
Tweeny: Just checking in to make sure the show was going OK. I need to get up really early in the morning to help sell groceries, so I'll be saying 'adios amigos'...
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "My nostrils flared at the smell of his perfume."
Tweeny: Until last time, again...
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Offer not good after curfew in sectors R or N."
llanwydd: nite tween
||||||||| Tweeny says "Catherwood, call me a cab." After the obvious joke, Tweeny exits at 8:00 PM.
||||||||| Gusts of wind blow in from outside and the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa of helicopter blades is heard as Happy Panditt's chopper lands on the lawn and Mutt disembarks at 8:00 PM.
Mutt: Gotta watch out for those blades
Deputy Dang: howdy, mutt!
llanwydd: howdy mutt
Mutt: Evening, Deputy!
Mutt: Howdy, Llan!
Mutt: And hey to Lonesome and cease
llanwydd: been having an awful lot of rain here in FL
Beet: Hey, Mutt
Mutt: Been listening to campaign chronicles this past week. Not much has changed :(
Mutt: Are you getting some of that hurricane, Llan?
llanwydd: which hurricane?
llanwydd: there are several tropical storms approaching
Mutt: The one that just went through Louisiana
llanwydd: that one is likely to dissipate bdfore long but I am probably getting the rain from it
llanwydd: I cant keep track of them all
llanwydd: thats what the NWS is for
Mutt: I just lookec at the map and it looks like you are surrounded!
llanwydd: lol
||||||||| It's 11:15 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Cease - dead from the fiddlers

Beet: sound dropping out.
Mutt: Another paraquaat related death …
Deputy Dang: Is the audio having troubles or is it maybe something on my end?
Beet: It's OK now.
Deputy Dang: Yes, for me also. But for a brief while, it was spotty/choppy.
llanwydd: I didnt notice
llanwydd: imagine sitting on a stalactite
llanwydd: or worse a stalagmite
Mutt: Imagine trying to get off a stalagmite
llanwydd: is cat coming back anybody know
llanwydd: if one can climb everest they could get off a stalagmite
llanwydd: I remember FST on NPR but not P and B
Mutt: Early 90s
Mutt: They were doing Power as oart of someone else’s show, IIRC
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Deputy Dan has no friends."
Mutt: I didn’t even know about Power until the late 90s
llanwydd: I thought National Public Radio changed to American Public Radio during the nineties. thats the way I remember it e
llanwydd: but it went back to npr at some point
llanwydd: I loved both of them back in the nineties
Deputy Dang: My audio is dropping out again.
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Join the expectant crowd gathering now as we stop here on..."

Mutt: I shut it off. Too much
Mutt: The dogs say we need to go out and chase stuff. G’nite everyone. Be well.
||||||||| Catherwood says "8:00 PM, time for SOMEONE to leave!", grabs Mutt by the collar and gives 'em the old bum's rush out the door
Beet: Pretty bad
Deputy Dang: Gnite, Mutt!
Beet: G'nite Mutt. I won't be far behind.
Deputy Dang: Well, I'm sad to learn it wasn't just my audio.
Deputy Dang: It seems to have recovered again.
llanwydd: I recognize those voices
Deputy Dang: I think Dr Demento was where I first heard Nick Danger.
llanwydd: interesting, dang
||||||||| Catherwood walks in wearing his pyjamas, yawns, and mumbles "It's midnight here in New York city"...then he falls over and starts snoring loudly..
llanwydd: I dont remember demento playing fst
llanwydd: and I got very into dd in seventh or eights grade
llanwydd: I first heard nick danger as a freshman in high school when my english teacher played side two of Two Places on the last day of school
Deputy Dang: I'm not sure if it was Dr Demento. Now that I think about it, the local radio station (Tampa 98Rock, I don't remember the call letters) had a comedy hour (or show) and maybe that's where I heard it.
llanwydd: well I have to leave early tonight. thanks for the show again tween. nite folks.
||||||||| Catherwood says "8:00 PM, time for SOMEONE to leave!", grabs llanwydd by the collar and gives 'em the old bum's rush out the door

Deputy Dang: Gnite, Beet!
: Hi all
||||||||| Catherwood tiptoes into the room, and pipes up "Announcing 'Cease', also known as 'Nancy' -- the time is 8:00 PM" -- then he slowly retires back into the sitting room...
Deputy Dang: Welcome back, Cease!
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Why does the porridge bird lay his egg in the air?"
Cease: I was able to listen to the show in the car, just not type
Cease: Now I can’t listen
Deputy Dang: We had a few audio problems. A few times, it would get choppy/spotty/droppy. But eventually it recovered.
Cease: Good
Cease: Good
Deputy Dang: Twice as good
Cease: Just listened to the certain commercial along with shimmer
Cease: I’ve used those in several collages
Deputy Dang: The audio is breaking up again. :-/
Cease: Interesting also hearing Phil talk of his combines
Cease: Certainly!
Cease: Fuck
Cease: The word is Certs
Deputy Dang: two mince in one
Cease: Wow. Now I can listen and type!
Deputy Dang: Somewhat listen, anyway.
Cease: Was that the feed problem?
Deputy Dang: We all experienced it, so assume so.
Deputy Dang: This is how it was at its worst. Play for a second or two then drop out for couple of seconds.
Cease: I’ll have to read the transcript
Deputy Dang: I'm going to take off. I wonder if I have Lawyer's Hospital on CD. I know I have it on LP, but I don't have an LP player any more.
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Gee Mom, isn't that bridge built yet?"
Cease: Bye dang
Deputy Dang: Goodnight for this week, Cease! Thanks for the collage--I liked it, though it had its spotty times also.
||||||||| Deputy Dang is thrown out the window just as the clock strikes 8:00 PM.
Cease: I do my best
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "What about my pickle?"
Cease: This is also in the new Firesign release, not insane 198
