||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 1 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| It's 1:30 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Tweeny - dead from pneumonia
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, July 04, 2024 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!" -- then he looks around at the empty room, looks at his watch, and mumbles "...am I early?"
||||||||| Catherwood stumbles in at 8:00 PM, dragging Tweeny by the hair and asks "Can anyone vouch for this bozo?"
||||||||| Catherwood stomps in at 8:00 PM, dragging Cease by the hair and asks "Can anyone vouch for this yo-yo?"
Cease: Ouch, my hair!
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 11 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Tweeny: Allo Cease
Cease: BDB is perfect for today
Tweeny: absolutely
Cease: I wonder if anyone else will show up today?
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Join the expectant crowd gathering now as we stop here on..."
Tweeny: time will tell...
||||||||| Gusts of wind blow in from outside and the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa of helicopter blades is heard as Happy Panditt's chopper lands on the lawn and JZip falls out at 8:00 PM.
Tweeny: Hi JZip
Cease: I'm having more difficulty finding relevent Firesign material to mix with Ram than I thought.
JZip waves hello
Cease: Hi JZ
JZip: I have fond memories of this one.
||||||||| Catherwood stomps in at 8:00 PM, dragging Deputy Dang by one leg and asks "Can anyone vouch for this yo-yo?"
Cease: Monkberry is Very Firesign friendly, which is why I embarked on its Firesignification.
Cease: Hi Dang
Tweeny: It's my favorite next only to EYKIW
Cease: A Very Surreal song, lyrically
Tweeny: Howdy Deputy
Cease: There are so many good ones, how can you choose, Tween?
Cease: There;s some fine music on this
Deputy Dang: I'm not really here. I'm picking up afriend at the airport and probably won't be home before the show ends.
Tweeny: true, Cease
JZip: EYKIW is an easy choice, though, for me.
Cease: I don't think I have a fave, though there are some I like less than others.
Tweeny: safe travels, Deputy
Cease: Not Insane, Next World and Lawyer's Hospital come to mind
Cease: Thanks for droppping by, Dang
Cease: Does this remind you of the MidWest, Tween? i know it not.
Cease: I've been to Chicago for a few days (mostly restaurants) in 2008 and I'm originally from the Canadian MidWest (Saskatchewan) but I consider myself basically a West Coast person
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "A fair for all and no fair to anybody!"
Tweeny: Oh yeah Cease. Proc said it was about Bloomington, IN, and I lived near there for many years.
Cease: Richard Fish territory. He's done a LOT of stuffwith Firesign, and did an encore of his newsman character from Vegas/Egypt in my new play
Tweeny: I also spent some time in Arizona circa 1975, which is probably why EYKIW strikes such a chord.
Cease: Don't know where Fish is from originally, but he's been on the radio on Bloomington for 40 years or so
Tweeny: Bloomington's a pretty cool town. Like Austin in Texas, an island in an otherwise very 'conservative' state.
Cease: Of course where we're from keys us in to a lot of Firesign refs. My LA highschool was on Sep ULVeda blvd, which in pronounced Sepul VEEda in NIck Danger. If you're from there, that's funny
Cease: Where are you from JZ?
Tweeny: Proctor and Ossman did their rehearsal for the Bloomington show they did a few years back in the town where I used to have a house and recording studio, Nashville, IN.
Tweeny: They met my 102 year old mother at the show. I have pictures :)
Cease: I remember that, Tween.
Tweeny: So in answer to your question, yeah BDB is a great parody of mid-west America
||||||||| Catherwood sneaks into the room, and pipes up "Announcing 'Not Ed', also known as 'Nancy' -- the time is 8:00 PM" -- then he slowly retires back into the vestibule...
Cease: Hi Not
Tweeny: Evenin' Not Ed
Not Ed: Hey Tweeny Hey C
Not Ed: Waz real DDang & JZ
Cease: You're in Seattle, right, Not?
Cease: I love the music on this CD
Not Ed: Yes indeed
Not Ed: 4th of July Heritage Loaf https://youtu.be/N6vJYyYrRps
Not Ed: Slightly better quality https://youtu.be/-SFepWZ6NNw
Not Ed: (Groove Tube clip)
||||||||| It's 11:30 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Deputy Dang - dead from Covid 19
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Tweeny: back
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "Ha ha ha - that's very logical."
Cease: I wonder if Bergman wrote that last tune?
Tweeny: RAM is a very cool album
Cease: Very Firesign-like lyricss on this tune
Tweeny: good choice for collages, Cease
Cease: Sometimes hard to come up with new ideas for collages, but something usually comes up
Cease: Still here, Zip-man?
Cease: Imagine with coming out with a new comic strip every day, as cartoonists to
||||||||| Catherwood walks in wearing his pyjamas, yawns, and mumbles "It's midnight here in New York city"...then he falls over and starts snoring loudly..
Cease: It was hearing Monkberry on Tween's Tuesday show that inspired me to create this collage.
Tweeny: Yeah, I still have the vinyl of RAM from back in the day. Was a favorite
Cease: I wondered if the show was cancelled because of this bit.
Cease: This is very revolutionary, for its time.
Cease: It was the last Hour Hour
Cease: I recorded that off the radio in 1970
Tweeny: Cease: This is very revolutionary, for its time. << Much of what The Beatles did was
Tweeny: Nothing like it before
Cease: Telling listeners Not to join the army at the height of the Vietnam invasion? The people who own radio stations would not have approved of that.
Tweeny: No doubt
Cease: Anyone else still here?
Cease: it appears not
Tweeny: haha
Tweeny: Hey, we're doing the best we can providing the fans with good entertainment :)
Cease: that we are, tween. next year firesign chat will have been going on for 30 years.
Cease: that will also be the 10th anniversary of my Firesign collages on this show
Tweeny: We could take the show back to 6pm Pacific, but then 8-10pm is too late for some people on the East Coast :/
Cease: they were originally on a station in Santa Cruz but it shut down
Tweeny: Not sure what to do about better promoting the show...
Cease: yeah, i go to bed usually pretty early too. old people tend to do that, which is the Firesign demographic
Tweeny: right
Tweeny: We'll just keep at it and hope more people tune in :)
Cease: Ossman wanted some of my stuff in the Library of Congress and I talked to the guy in charge of their archives but it doesn't seem to be happening.
Cease: all we can do, Tween.
||||||||| Catherwood stumbles in and intones "Presenting 'johan amadeus myjetski', just granted probation at 8:00 PM", then leaves hurriedly.
Cease: Hi Jammy
johan amadeus myjetski: passing non-euclid avenue...
johan amadeus myjetski: if i had all the angles, i'd be home by now
Cease: have some marks
johan amadeus myjetski: catherwood, give us all some high marks
||||||||| Catherwood gives us all some high marks.
Tweeny: Hey johan
||||||||| Catherwood interjects: "These insignificant lumps came together..."
Cease: you were on chat on Tween's Tuesday show when he played Monkberry Moon Delight, Jammy, right?
Cease: a few weeks ago
johan amadeus myjetski: yep, sure was - i was the one who requested it
johan amadeus myjetski: hey kurt,
johan amadeus myjetski: !
Cease: thanks to that, im doing a series of collages based on the Ram songs. it's already up on the archive
JZip: I've been away from the chat, but listening in.
Cease: hope you enjoyed the Ram tune collages, JZ
Cease: Ram part 2 next week and the final Ram the week after
JZip: I did.
johan amadeus myjetski: i'll have to check those out, cease
Tweeny: Cat’s collage archive is at www.kurtericson.net/cat
Cease: i turned Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road into collages so this will be my 3rd Beattle-based collage series
Tweeny: been fun, folks
johan amadeus myjetski: thanks, kurt!
Tweeny: see you next wwek same fire time, same fire channel
Cease: part 2 next week, and who knows what else?
Cease: next week, all
Tweeny: *week
johan amadeus myjetski: saddle up!
Tweeny: Until last time, again...
||||||||| Tweeny leaves at 8:00 PM, singing "Oh, I'm just a little fishy, floating in the sea, and there ain't no hook that's smart enough to catch the likes of me..."
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 1 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| It's 1:15 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| johan amadeus myjetski - dead from the yaws
||||||||| Cease - dead from the common cold
||||||||| JZip - dead from the fiddlers
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 2 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 3 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 4 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
||||||||| Catherwood enters, and announces to all and sundry "It's 4:31 AM, time to change the log file and clean out unused rooms; please exit the chat room for a minute or two. Thank you for your patience."
