Rufus_T_Firetween: od suggestion though
Rufus_T_Firetween: Howdy Deputy
Rufus_T_Firetween: *good
||||||||| Catherwood says "8:57 PM, time for SOMEONE to leave!", grabs Deputy Dang by the collar and gives 'em the old bum's rush out the door

Rufus_T_Firetween: It's the theme of the Spike Lee movie Do The Right Thing
||||||||| Soaring Eddie steals in around 8:58 PM, trying to avoid Catherwood because of last year's "unpleasant incident."

Soaring Eddie: Power to the people right on!
Rufus_T_Firetween: You might try The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphopcracy 'Televeision Drug Of The Nation'
Cease: All Hail Groucho and John

Soaring Eddie: Hello, Dear Friends!
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, November 12, 2020 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!"
Soaring Eddie: who am us anyway?
Rufus_T_Firetween: good question
Soaring Eddie: I need a guaranteed annual year!

||||||||| Catherwood leads Beet into the room, accepts a wooden nickel as a gratuity, mumbles something about 9:00 PM, then departs.
Beet: Evening chatters.
Cease: I person one channel came true.
Rufus_T_Firetween: Hi Beet
Beet: Howdy Dr Tween
||||||||| Catherwood leads Rotonoto in through the front door at 9:01 PM, picks up his cues (only slightly scorched), and heads for the billiard room.
Cease: Hi Beet

Beet: Hi, Dr Cease
Rufus_T_Firetween: Hey Roto
||||||||| Mayor P'nisnose strides up to the podium and speaks: "My fellow Armenians, if you have questions about exorcism, buy the new book "EXORCISM IN YOUR DAILY LIFE", now on sale. Incidentally, so is my vote."
Soaring Eddie: Hiya Beet! No need to be lonesome here!
||||||||| Catherwood enters and asks "Is there anythynge you want? By that I mean Anythynge You Want To, Shakespeare's Lost paperback Comedie in pre-electronic book form!"
Cease: Hi Roto
Beet: Hi Rotonoto
||||||||| Bebop Lobo reminds all you hep cats to listen to Firesign’s NEW 24/7 RADIO STATION Click to listen anytime!"
||||||||| Gusts of wind blow in from outside and the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa of helicopter blades is heard as Happy Panditt's chopper lands on the lawn and Elayne plummets into the garden at 9:02 PM.
Elayne: Evenin' all. Just came by to ight one up and assure you I'm still alive. :)
Beet: Thank you, Souring.
Beet: Hi, Eleyne.
Soaring Eddie: Aw, call me Eddie!
Elayne: Damn, I'm running low. Anyone from NJ on here?
Cease: No Don, the country's not for sale. Chow.
Cease: Hi El
Cease: Great to see you again, as it were
Elayne: Will pay all interstate toll fees. :)
Rufus_T_Firetween: Hi Elayne
Soaring Eddie: This is great, I just found the chat online recently and finally set a calendar event so I could actually try showing up!
Elayne: Hey Cat, Kurt, anyone else who's name sounds like that!
Cease: Good for you Eddie
Rufus_T_Firetween: Glad you're still with us :)
Elayne: Great idea, Eddie!
Rufus_T_Firetween: great Eddie :)
Elayne: Oh Kurt, I'll be here for awhile, even when my knees and feet have other plans and keep me from walking without a cane. This too shall pass! Last week I was in bad shape...
Elayne: Tonight it's just twinges.
Rufus_T_Firetween: ehhh :(
Cease: Glad to hear you're recovering
||||||||| Catherwood tosses another cheese log on the fire and intones, "If you want to keep the cornstarch off your mukluks this season, buy a hoodie or a sweatshirt at the Firesign corner Cafepress store."
Soaring Eddie: the radio show doesn't play on the main page in my browser, is Mac Mojave safari known to fail? I can hear the 128k stream fine from the link on here.
Elayne: My doc wants me to do 30 minutes of cardio 5x a week. Trying to figure out how to do that not using my feet or legs.
Rufus_T_Firetween: I hope the new President will put a stop to this 'getting old' thing. It's annoying
Soaring Eddie: Whale for lunch?
Elayne: Waist-up meditation is easy. Waist-up cardio not so much
Soaring Eddie: the way I see it, "getting old" beats the alternative
Rufus_T_Firetween: push ups?
Elayne: Exactly what I always say, Eddie!!
Rufus_T_Firetween: push-ups is good cardio
Elayne: Without using my legs, Kurt??
Elayne: How the heck can I push myself up from my lying position on the bed?
Elayne: I thought I needed to at least bend my knees for that, and that still hurts a bit.
Soaring Eddie: I like those Push Up Pop popsicles. #MoreSugar!
Rufus_T_Firetween: that might be a trick
Elayne: Even so.
Elayne: Once I'm moremobile U'm doing go to for walks again.
Soaring Eddie: I might be lying... but that could be a lie!
Elayne: The thing that always kills me is the 28 steps between our apt and the ground. Have to navigate those both ways, and that seems to take a tolld on the knees/feet.
Rufus_T_Firetween: but I think on the floor you could leave your legs straight
Cease: How is Covid in your various areas? It's surging here in BC
Elayne: Floor? Not sure I could get up from the floor.
Rufus_T_Firetween: TX and Cal have both broken over 1M cases
Elayne: Even the carpet. That involves at least getting on one knee, and I Do Not Kneel. Haven't been able to for decades.
Rufus_T_Firetween: OK El, might ask the doctor then
Cease: We used to get 5 or 6 new cases a day. Now it's 500-600
Rotonoto: ...
Elayne: Which brings us back to do, Kurt. The doc who recommended the cardio is leaving, so I'm now in search of a local primary care person affilitated iwth Columbia Presbyterian.
Elayne: One I'm mobile I'll make an appointment
Rotonoto: Elayne- seated exercises? pushing weights?
Elayne: Then ask her about her recommendations. It's like a friggin' merry-go-round.
Elayne: Ooh Rotonoto, I like that notion! As long as I don't throw out my shoulder or elbow tendons again.
Rufus_T_Firetween: Sucks, E :/
Elayne: See, it's like this. :) :)
Elayne: I'm a bit of a mess, yes?
Rufus_T_Firetween: Hope you can get some decent help
Elayne: Maybe I'll ask for a referral to a rheumatogist...
Cease: You'll recover, El
Elayne: I'll be ok, Kurt. I just need to get used to having limited mobility days.
Rotonoto: in gym I learned very slow reps will produce surprising amount of 'burn'
Elayne: And post-COVID look for a place to live that doesn't involve steps.
Rotonoto: with not too much weight at all
Rufus_T_Firetween: Sounds like a good idea
Rotonoto: low weigth minimizes chance of injury
Cease: get's my plan as well, El.
Beet: May you get better quickly, Elayne.
Soaring Eddie: Rum & Rosehips
Elayne: Ooh, slow reps. Nice! Welll, I hae 1 lb weights and 2 lb ones so maybe I'll start with the 1 lb
Elayne: Thanks Beet! Love you all to bits!
Rotonoto: the 1lb is perfect, work up to the 2
||||||||| Bebop Lobo reminds all you hep cats to listen to Firesign’s NEW 24/7 RADIO STATION Click to listen anytime!"
Elayne: Think I'll go lie down again before my body decides to betray me again...
Cease: rest well, El
Elayne: Then tomorrow, slow reps the Rotnoto way!!
Rotonoto: nite Elayne
Rufus_T_Firetween: Have a good rest E
Beet: Take it easy.
Soaring Eddie: Bye Elayne!
Beet: G'Nite, Elayne.
Rotonoto: amazing- the 16K stream ios working for me 2nite
Rotonoto: have never heard "Power" before
Cease: it was on the radio in 1990
Cease: Serialized on John Hockenberry's NPR show Heat
Cease: I think that's where Proctor and Bergman met Ted Bonnitt.
Cease: Ted's now got a podcast with Proc called The Sexy Boomer Show
Rotonoto: for me, so much undiscovered material
Soaring Eddie: I see that War Of The Worlds 50th Anniv edition is on band camp as of a couple weeks ago, just noticed it!
Cease: https://player.fm/series/phil-and-teds-sexy-boomer-show
Cease: Great news, Eddie
Beet: Didn't know about the podcast. Cool
Rotonoto: bow wowists- lol! sounds like sendup of PETA?
Cease: It's been going on for a few months. Great interview with Ossman and Harry Shearer, among others
Cease: They are looking for sponsors.
Cease: I don't think PETA is into kidnapping.
||||||||| It's 9:25 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Elayne - dead from pneumonia
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Soaring Eddie: Ivan Boske!!?
Soaring Eddie: poor Elayne, she's no fun, she fell right over
Rotonoto: knee surgery no picnic
Soaring Eddie: no wonder she fell over!
DJTweeny: Does anyone think we'd get better attendance if this chat was on another night?
DJTweeny: Saturday or Sunday maybe?
Rotonoto: egg-zackly! film at eleven...
DJTweeny: I was thinking Sunday would have the least conflicts
Soaring Eddie: Thursday through Saturday is not favorable
Soaring Eddie: Sunday is a good idea
Rufus_T_Firetween: yeah
Cease: they're all good for me
Rotonoto: changing venues tricky... might end up losing attendence
Rotonoto: personally, I would move, no problem
Beet: I would be OK with a change.
Rufus_T_Firetween looks at the attendance lol
Soaring Eddie: Monday night is actually my favorite concert night, followed closely by Sunday. And there are no concerts now.
Rufus_T_Firetween: there aren't :/
Rufus_T_Firetween: Live Music Capital Of The World (Austin) is shut shown for large gatherings
Cease: It would be hard to have less attendance.
Soaring Eddie: lots of music streams on thu-sat though... highly concentrated
Rufus_T_Firetween: yeah Cease lol
Soaring Eddie: on the other hand, don't ask me, I never even found this chat until now!?
Beet: Is every venue on 6th Street closed, Tween?
Rotonoto: on average, Tue/Wed/Thu probably best (guessing)
Rufus_T_Firetween: Yeah Beet, it's a restaurant or nothing
Rufus_T_Firetween: bars also closed across Texas
Beet: wow
Rufus_T_Firetween: Saw a bar the other day that had a sign saying they are now a restaurant
Rotonoto: MD so far just bumped it up a notch, not total closures
Cease: I was lucky enough to go to a restaurant 2 weeks ago, first time in a year. They may all close again soon.
Rufus_T_Firetween: musicians are giving living room concerts online on Facebook or whatever and asking for PayPal donations
Cease: https://www.cioppinosyaletown.com/
Rufus_T_Firetween: Actually, I'm wrong about the total ban on bars in TX. They said that it could be decided County by County. Travis County (Austin) decided to keep them closed
Rufus_T_Firetween: That's fairly recent
Beet: I know of two comedians doing a Zoom concert.
Soaring Eddie: I've been watching a few streams weekly, one of my favorites is not weekly but happens in this time slot., Friday and Saturday have multiple options for me already...
Rufus_T_Firetween: I wish Zoom wasn't a PRC app
Soaring Eddie: I've paid for three Zoom comedy shows, and the quality depends a lot on limiting crowd microphone interaction
Rufus_T_Firetween: but it seems like it's becoming part of the culture now
Rotonoto: PRC? China?
Rufus_T_Firetween: may have to use it just to interview Phil and David
Rufus_T_Firetween: Yeah, communist China
Rufus_T_Firetween: not a fan
Soaring Eddie: Zoom uses servers in USA for sessions here, but I guess they don't exactly say that they don't route traffic through HQ
Rotonoto: I tried to install zoom into one of my Linux boxes, didn't take for some reason
Rufus_T_Firetween: THere was time when they were sending back personal data to PRC servers
Rotonoto: all I have here is Linux now. on over a dozen machines
Soaring Eddie: Try zoom from inside a regular web browser, it should not require the app
Rufus_T_Firetween: maybe they cleaned that up, I don't know
Rotonoto: Eddie- link to do that please?
Rufus_T_Firetween: Didn't know you could do that Eddie, will have to give that a shot
Soaring Eddie: shall I open a zoom up? just a sec!
Rufus_T_Firetween: thanks for the tip
Beet: Zoom works on my browsers OK.
Soaring Eddie: normally when I get a zoom invite, it requests to use the app but offers an option to just click and go in browser
Rotonoto: I would need a link to do that probably, not likely to receive any invites
||||||||| Catherwood tosses another cheese log on the fire and intones, "If you want to keep the cornstarch off your mukluks this season, buy a hoodie or a sweatshirt at the Firesign corner Cafepress store."
Rotonoto: ...since I have studiously avoided social media over the years
Rotonoto: I do not tweet, facebook, etc.
Beet: I am barely involved in social media.
Rufus_T_Firetween: I use Facebook occasionally
Rufus_T_Firetween: again, like Zoom, it's ubiquitous
Soaring Eddie: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/8431768411?pwd=Z2hXbVkxbWdQM1IrZmJHRjc2UVFidz09
Beet: I like hearing from old friends on Facebook.
Soaring Eddie: can I post a link? Try chatting with me as a test?
Rotonoto: will do later- I saved the url
Soaring Eddie: uh I'm gonna log off this momentarily, I don't wanna keep this thing on tap... it's an invitation to spam to post a link like this to the web!
Soaring Eddie: On line: Beet Cease Rotonoto Rufus_T_Firetween Soaring Eddie DJTweeny <- limited cast of potential abusers
Rotonoto: I don't even understand this sort of stuff
Beet: Good luck, Eddie.
Rotonoto: The few cameras on my lappies have tape over them
Rufus_T_Firetween: haha Eddie
Rufus_T_Firetween: Yeah, I do have an account
Soaring Eddie: I've heard of people posting zoom links openly and then suddenly there are trolls in your classroom!
Rufus_T_Firetween: but haven't used it
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood announces: "9:44 PM and late as usual, it's llanwydd, just back from Daytona Beach."
Soaring Eddie: you are lucky if the trolls don't post offensive content. Jeez.
llanwydd: good evening dear friends
Rufus_T_Firetween: Hi llan
Cease: Hi llan
Rotonoto: hey llan
Soaring Eddie: DEAR Friends!
Beet: Hey, Llan.
Soaring Eddie: Howdy!
llanwydd: call him eddie. hes an american now
Soaring Eddie: YEs please! I'm getting really good at French Horn, or as we like to call it, corno francese
llanwydd: lol
Rufus_T_Firetween: How are the water polo lessons coming?
Soaring Eddie: The horses keep drowning
llanwydd: or cornelle or cornitte
llanwydd: or cornelius
Soaring Eddie: It's my first time in this chat so I'm trying to go deep on the quotes just to feel appropriate, but sometimes I gotta just reach for the pure gag!
Soaring Eddie: Cornelius "Chevy" Chase never played at the FST
Cease: reach for it, soaring
llanwydd: best way to go, SE
Cease: a quote from Weirdly Cool. right on, ed
llanwydd: I am sure chevy knew about fst
Cease: he did play with Steely Dan before they were a thing
Soaring Eddie: Reach For The Sky! I got my White Brains On Toast tour tank top!
llanwydd: I knew about that
Cease: they were at Bard with Ossman's wife Judith
Soaring Eddie: (OK that meeting link on zoom officially goes nowhere now.)

llanwydd: very sad news
Cease: Eat Hawkmoth or get Eaten
Soaring Eddie: LAURA!
llanwydd: wow, is this eobe part 2?
Soaring Eddie: have another Johnny Cup
Rotonoto: minty fresh
llanwydd: baoaoists
Soaring Eddie: This Power is some great stuff, I've never heard it!
Cease: A Billycup for me
Rotonoto: does sound like Laura Hawkmoth
Cease: If you come here often, you'll hear A LOT of Firesign you haven't heard before
Cease: Not the same person, I don't think.
llanwydd: how many fst recordings have you heard,SE?
Cease: The REAL Laura was my Facebook friend at one time.
Soaring Eddie: I've been using my time wisely stocking up my brain on FST. https://youtu.be/W5s55lLol44

Soaring Eddie: I got the DECLASSIFIED. it's fantastic. Got Fighting Clowns of Hollywood! It's even better than the original which won't stop me from collecting the MFSL fighting clowns and the little picturedisc with artwork by Phil Hartman!

Beet: Shocking: I have never had a couch!
Cease: We have two
Cease: You have the extra Power episode, Tween? I must have sent it to you.
Beet: CanI sleep on one?
Rufus_T_Firetween: I played what I have, at least under that name Cease
Cease: It's about time for some Dope....
Cease: Humour of the 70s
Cease: You'll have it before you play Power again.
Rufus_T_Firetween: Taylor has give us the new album :)
Cease: Actually I was expecting the Power show I did for Firesign Radio. Austin wanted me to call that show Free Time with the Catman
Rufus_T_Firetween: Dope Humor of the 70s
Rufus_T_Firetween: haven't listened to it yet
Cease: But this fits even better. Two trump jokes.
Cease: we can listen to my show another time.
Cease: Next week, parts 5.5 and 6 plus part one of my new collage series, Kaput-alism.
||||||||| Ralph Spoilsport drives in through the door and says "Buy a new or used T-shirt from the Firesign Theatre Cafepress store! Hurry before this sentence ends!"
Soaring Eddie: I'm excited about Dope humor but I already have Duke Of Madness...
Beet: Editing will be the key.
Soaring Eddie: Agree, Beet. One reason I have not checked the DVD yet is that it's a little daunting! Perhaps DopeHumor will be the skeleton key, as it were?
Cease: Not so much daunting as rewarding.
Beet: I'm looking forward to it.

Rufus_T_Firetween: Not much info on this series. Cat just happaned to have the cassettes (which were not widely available)
||||||||| Catherwood stops by and announces "While you bozos sit here in the Waiting Room, why not shop at the Firesale store?"
Rufus_T_Firetween: Hope they release it to the new Download Store at some point
Cease: Apparently they did it for NPR in 1980
Rufus_T_Firetween: right
Soaring Eddie: the cassettes.. Ooh. Do the Cassettes have some stuff that's not on the DoM DVD?
Beet: I hope so too.
Rufus_T_Firetween: Oh yeah, this isn't on DOMM
