||||||||| Catherwood steals into the room, and pipes up "Announcing 'Johan Amadeus Myjetski', also known as 'Nancy' -- the time is 8:50 PM" -- then he slowly retires back into the sitting room...
DJTweeny: Yo Johan
Johan Amadeus Myjetski: Guess you heard Van Morrison got his knighthood - he's Sir Van now.
DJTweeny: Yeah, good for him
DJTweeny: Joining musicians such as The Beatles
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 8:53 PM and Cat bounds out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
Johan Amadeus Myjetski: Yeah
DJTweeny: John Cleese had a funny bit about how Monty Poython never got knighted
DJTweeny: Hey Cat
Johan Amadeus Myjetski: Hi Cat!
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood snorts derisively: "8:54 PM and late as usual, it's Beet, just back from Leesburg."
Cat: Hi chatters
Beet: Hello Fellas. How's it going'?
Cat: Hey Beet
DJTweeny: He said it was probably because of their 'Upperclass Twit' skit
DJTweeny: Hi Beet
Beet: Hi Dr Cat
Beet: Evenin' Dr Tween
Cat: Thanks for the sistine chapel riff, beet
Johan Amadeus Myjetski: Beet!
Beet: I enjoyed making that, Cat.
Cat: i'm in search of contributors for my Ossman script thing
Beet: Howdy JAM
Cat: You wanna do a paragraph of the Ossman script, Beet?
Beet: Absolutely!
Cat: I had a friend named Frank over this morning reading the Ossman paragraph that begins, " to be frank"
DJTweeny: heh
Cat: I promised Ossman I'd have it done by April. This is only Feb.

DJTweeny: Sorry Lyle
Cat: Did you enjoy that article about Texas I sent you, Tween?
DJTweeny: I've got a pretty good knowledge of early Texas, but yeah that was pretty accurate
Beet: Big Lyle Lovett fan.
Johan Amadeus Myjetski: have i gone deaf?
Cat: One of my friends, who plays Mr Bronfman in my play Neal Amid, lived in Houston for a while. Said nothing but good things about his Texas experieince.
DJTweeny: The fact that the Anglos brought in slaves was a real point of contention since Mexico disallowed slavery
Beet: My favorite is, "Oh that's Right Your Not From Taxes".
Beet: Texas
||||||||| "Happy" Harry Cox pops in and say "I was right! Everything I knew WAS wrong! You CAN get "Profiles in Barbecue Sauce", chock full of meaty Firesign scripts!"
Johan Amadeus Myjetski: have i gone deaf?
DJTweeny: but it ended up being allowed in the Province of Tejas
Cat: I'm from Saskatchewan. But I've lived lots ofplaces
Cat: Vancouver is best, for me.
DJTweeny: Great Lyle Lovett tune, Beet
||||||||| Nick Danger sneaks in and whispers "Get the scuttlebutt on Box of Danger here, whatever that means..."
Beet: I have always wanted to visit Vancouver
Cat: Ossman has the best radio voice
Cat: I love it here, Beet
Beet: This is a good one.
DJTweeny: The article got that one thing wrong. The Spanish/Mexicans didn't called it Texas, they called it Tejas, a native American word for friendship
Cat: This is the real Neal
DJTweeny: the real McCoy
Beet: Mexican-tinged coutry music is called Texano.
Rufus_T_Firetween: ** Read about Cat's Play “NEAL AMID” at >> http://www.seemreal.com/nealamid/index.htm
Cat: The fact thatr Neal hooked up with Bergman's girlfriend is why Bergman went to LA,mand created the Firesgin Theatre
Beet: I think I spelled that wrong - Tejano
DJTweeny: Tejano
DJTweeny: yeah
||||||||| frank tiptoes in around 9:04 PM, trying to avoid Catherwood because of last year's "unpleasant incident."
Beet: Nice neighbors
||||||||| The TV flickers on, and Ralph Spoilsport appears: "How can you drive in two places at once when you don't have a genuine Ralph Spoilsport license plate frame? Get one for your car and one for the plate in your head!"
Cat: HI Frank
Beet: Hey, Frank
Cat: If it's the same
Beet: Larry Fine
Cat: Frank, we were UBC students when I found this Kerouac album at the UBC record library
Cat: Changed my life
Cat: I heard this and I thought, I have to write like that.
Cat: Beauty is something you seek, and when you catch it, another beauty awaits in the near distance.
Beet: To know that there is something to catch is the important thing.
Cat: there has to be something to catch
Beet: I have often said that live would be worthless without art and artists.
Cat: this is such wonderful use of language
||||||||| Catherwood enters and asks "Is there anythynge you want? By that I mean Anythynge You Want To, Shakespeare's Lost paperback Comedie in pre-electronic book form!"
Beet: life
Johan Amadeus Myjetski: back in a bit
Cat: i love being alive
Beet: Me too
Cat: its so much better than its alternative
Cat: bergman and austin are dead now. and how many new albums have they released?
Beet: Probably playing endless Nick Danger and Sgt. Bradshaw.
DJTweeny -)
Cat: are you listening to the audio, frank?
DJTweeny: allo frank, missed you coming in
Cat: this is the album I got from the UBC library in 73
Rufus_T_Firetween: ** Read about Cat's Play “NEAL AMID” at >> http://www.seemreal.com/nealamid/index.htm
Cat: i first heard this in 73, and thought, ok, like hearing Firesign, this was a direction to go
Cat: i want to use words this well
Beet: Is this online somewhere? The recording is really clean.
Cat: this is from a CD
Beet: nice
||||||||| The TV flickers on, and Ralph Spoilsport appears: "How can you drive in two places at once when you don't have a genuine Ralph Spoilsport license plate frame? Get one for your car and one for the plate in your head!"
Cat: much cleaner than the UNC library copy
Cat: but that was turned me on .
Cat: this is kerouac reading a tale from
Cat: Visons of Cody, a book so unreadable you can give it to a corpse
Cat: But hearing Jack give voice to this, I am enthralleed
Cat: UBC
Cat: Thiis is Gary Snyder. You are into him, eh, Frank?
Cat: this is the first firesign show, freak for a week
Cat: smoy barbarian
Cat: smoky
DJTweeny: Ossman's poetry
DJTweeny: No wonder they were so good with a Shakespeare parody
Cat: ossman brings a poetic mode to firesing
Cat: but all the lads are poetic
Cat: you can listen to firesign all your lilve and always find new wonders
DJTweeny: absolutely
DJTweeny: Incredibly complex and multi-layered
Cat: endless
Cat: we are forever blessed because of them
Beet: amen
Cat: are you folks enjoying this?
DJTweeny is
Cat: i put this together for phil ausrtin some years ago
Cat: for Oona

Cat: there are literally tens of people who've heard my plays
DJTweeny: haha
Cat: i wirte and create cuz i enjoy it. others< who knows?
Cat: ok, i had to seriously re-write this. this began as a lettre to current chatter Frank, who'd sent me the Illuminatus Trilogy when I lived in Sapporo in 76
DJTweeny: Gaiijin is Japanese for 'foreigner', isn't it?
Cat: yes
Cat: You speak Japanese, Beet?
DJTweeny: 'barbarian', even
Cat: bar bar barf
Cat: this is the first time this has appeared in the public ear
DJTweeny: eh?
Beet: No Japanes. I wish I did.

Cat: Dour Glass
DJTweeny: Living in Japan must have been quite an experience
DJTweeny: How long did you live there?
Cat: 71-88, on and off
DJTweeny: Wow, quite a while
DJTweeny: What got you there?
Beet: Tokyo?
Cat: it was very good for me because it introduced me to a diffent reality.
DJTweeny: I'm sure their culture would be 'culture-shock' to an American
Cat: in the late 60s, a man who brought japanese people to america stayed with my parents and offereed me a job teachinhg english. eventgually i took the job
Cat: i thihk it was good for my brain to live somewhere so challenging
DJTweeny: So you grew up knowing the Japanese language

DJTweeny: in L.A.?
Cat: No
Cat: Yards of yen, I love that
DJTweeny: So how did he know that you would be able to teach English to Japanese?
Cat: he needed teachers. i needed a job after universtiy.
DJTweeny: and you didn't speak Japanese?
Cat: my parents did have japanese borders so yes, it was around
Cat: i cna understand but my speech isn't so good.
Cat: japan, more than the states or perhapys england, has regioinal dialescts
Cat: so i can be understood in tokoy better than i can be in hammatsu, nagoryo or sapporo.
Cat: Wow I sound young
Cat: This is from a Vancouver radio show, 1996
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 10 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
