||||||||| Catherwood steals into the room, and intones "Announcing 'DJTween', also known as 'Nancy' -- the time is 8:20 PM" -- then he slowly retires back into the Aviary...
DJTween: I'll be playing some FST starting at 8pm CST this evening at - http://listen.ehhh.us:8000/tweeny.m3u
DJTween: (permission from Rocky :)
||||||||| H Stones enters at 8:24 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and scurries off to the Haberdashery Barn.
DJTween: Hey Stones
DJTween: Got a new streaming program for OS X called Nicecast and will be trying it out this evening
H Stones: hi tweenster
H Stones: my desktop ist kaput and i am reduced untill my new dell arrives to using a poxy desktop whjiocvh makes loads of noise and has a video card which makes my eyes water
H Stones: i forgot how bad a restricting dekstops are, canno wait to get rid of this heap
DJTween: :/
DJTween: Well, at least you had the good taste to buy an Austin, TX machine ;)
DJTween: I have made hardware redundancy a must for a long time
H Stones: my electtric kettle fused and crashed the hard drive whilst it was very busy
DJTween: You never know when something's going to fail, and you'll have to throw a data backup on an old machine
H Stones: are Dell resident in Austin?
DJTween: Yeah, Michael is from, and lives here
DJTween: Up until a few years ago they were still manufacturing here
H Stones: i hae always found Dell to be reliable and easy to use
DJTween: Yeah, a very good hardware choice
H Stones: the new one i have ordered is called a ~Vostro with an i5 processor
DJTween: I run Ubuntu on an old Dell, but am a Mac person since '86
DJTween: i5 sounds nice
DJTween: I don't keep up with PC tech
H Stones: only the i7 is actually faster
H Stones: but when on a pension you have to watch the outgoings
DJTween: of course
DJTween: Have you tried some flavor of Linux?
H Stones: on top of all this some bastard hacked into the server i use at friends of the earth for letter wring and newsletters
DJTween: Linux runs really fast on old procs
H Stones: from there they found my address book and removed all my email addys]
DJTween: Damn all black hat hackers
DJTween: yipes!!
DJTween: Again, you _have_ to have good backups
DJTween: Hardware fails, people hack, etc
H Stones: i have been talking with the IP all day and they tell me they should have restored my addys all 250 of them in the next 48i hours
DJTween: when I was running a recording studio in Indiana, I even kept weekly backups in a safe deposit box
DJTween: Good that they can help
H Stones: i had huge back up drive and the fuse took that out as well
H Stones: its been a bad year for electronics in the Hemlock House
DJTween: I use re-writable DVDs and a flash stick in addition to hard drive backups
DJTween: Yeah, some bad voodoo
H Stones: i have bought a couple of paper address books as a further back up so i wont get caught with my pants down again]
H Stones: i only keep my porn on pen drives lol
DJTween: Paper is good too, but hard to encrypt
DJTween: An encrypted flash stick in your pocket can be useful
DJTween: hehe
H Stones: yes i have a hole in my pocket so i can play with the stick
DJTween: ooooooooook
H Stones: just for private emails or for my friends of the earth campaign stuff??
DJTween: I have a hole in my pocket so I don't have too much money ;)
DJTween: FOTE, sure as well
H Stones: ouor government takes care of that for us as it does in your country i hear
DJTween: We may have some good (an animated) conversations, since I am a Libertarian
H Stones: ok will do
DJTween: Yes, much to talk about :)
H Stones: my fluoride and drinking water address is interactive as i know from the hard campaign from austin which has often come my way
DJTween: Austin is very conscious about such matters
DJTween: FST stream at 8pmCST will be - http://listen.ehhh.us:8000/tweeny.m3u
DJTween: The stream is up. Silence until the top of the hour
||||||||| Catherwood accompanies cs into the room, accepts an I.O.U. as a gratuity, grumbles something about 8:58 PM, then departs.
H Stones: if you have any pollution items or news thereof, all you need to do is write to fluoride@foe.co.uk and all of us on the list will get it, it keeps us all in the loop
DJTween: Will do 24k mono for dial-up users
DJTween: Hi cease
cs: hi stones, tween
DJTween: FST stream coming up at the top of the hour at - http://listen.ehhh.us:8000/tweeny.m3u

||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, September 13, 2012 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!"

DJTween: sure you have the correct URL? - http://listen.ehhh.us:8000/tweeny.m3u
DJTween: Real sure it's working
Art Holelaugher: Nada
DJTween: You don't have it either??
Dexter Fong: It's working fine here...clicked on the URL and it loaded and winamp grabbed it and made it talk
cs: i went to something that should have been firesonian last night
DJTween: Yeah, might have to paste into your audio program
Art Holelaugher: Do tell

||||||||| H Stones - dead from jaundice
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
DJTween: Would otherwise open in your browser's default if you just clicked
cs: http://www.billreidgallery.ca/Exhibition/CurrentExhibition.php
DJTween: All depends on what your system wants to do with that particular form of URL
cs: i think Austin would enjoy it
DJTween: That is, how your system treats a file type .m3u
Art Holelaugher: Very cool cs. You in BC?
cs: unfortunately my camcorder decided not to work
DJTween: Well, it's there if you want it :)
cs: there were Firesonian cereal boxes called Treaty Flakes and Salmon Flakes with a lot of funny ingredients
cs: yes, in Vancouver
||||||||| Catherwood enters with H Stones close behind, grumbles something about disrupting his 9:13 PM tree-stunting plans, and runs off to the sitting room.
Art Holelaugher: Nice -

Dexter Fong: wb sTONES
cs: i felt like a trickster had taken over my camera
Art Holelaugher: Gotta love the BC bud

DJTween: lol
Art Holelaugher: These puns are killing me - lol
H Stones: that defeats the object, the aim is to torture not to kill
Art Holelaugher: Very witty, Wilde
DJTween: They tried to bend you to their devilish will?
DJTween: "Your majesty is a pissant..."
H Stones: sounds a bit like the FED to me
DJTween: "What I meant to say your majesty was, you shine out like a shaft of gold when all around is dark."
Art Holelaugher: Python... no wait wrong chat room
H Stones: you may continue
Art Holelaugher: lol Tween
DJTween: We could probably have a good discussion about central banks, stones
H Stones: but what is there left to say that has not already been flushed
DJTween: true
H Stones: most of this financial excrement we are currently suffering can be laid at the the door of Reagan and Thatcher
Art Holelaugher: Indeed the trickle up theory
H Stones: its all just large kerbside quiche
||||||||| Catherwood sneaks into the room, and intones "Announcing 'Elayne', also known as 'Nancy' -- the time is 9:27 PM" -- then he slowly retires back into the sitting room...
Elayne: Evenin' all!

Art Holelaugher: Hi Elayne
H Stones: hi elayne i hope i find you in fine fettle

Dexter Fong: hI Elayne, Tweeny is broadcasting Firesign
DJTween: Stones, I'd go back to the difference between a Silver Certificate in 1962 and the Reserve Note in 1963
DJTween: and then Nixon taking the US off the Gold Standard in 1971
Elayne: That's great, Dex. Tween, how do I listen in?
Dexter Fong mutters to himself, "Oh Jeeze, there goes tweeny again

DJTween: http://listen.ehhh.us:8000/tweeny.m3u
DJTween: Hey E

Dexter Fong: Cat: What cd was that?
cs: the roots of Silvery characters are quite pronounced
Dexter Fong: Goon SHOW?
cs: 100 goon shows
DJTween: The Aaron Russo movie America: Freedom To Fascism is highly recommended
cs: you gave it to me in 05
Elayne: Oy, way too much rebuffering. This poor old laptop can't take buffering of chat, Radio Tween and my Facebook game. :)
DJTween: I'm playing the NPR compilation "All Things Firesign"
Art Holelaugher: Thanks Tween - I'll check it out
Dexter Fong: The more you listen to them, the easier it gets to follow them except for references to now obscure british pop stars
cs: any more dining with chatters, el?
Elayne: Dex, that's what I have Robin here for. No British pop star too obscure for Mr. Riggs!
Elayne: Not lately, Cat.
cs: it is a small country
Art Holelaugher: Where's Honey?
Dexter Fong: Honey is a semi-mythic figure who appears irregularly
Art Holelaugher: How about Betty Jo Bealouski
DJTween: lol Dex
cs: very big in bee mythology
Dexter Fong: Indeed, how *about* her
Art Holelaugher: Audry Farber?
Dexter Fong: Him too
DJTween: Susan, Underhill?
Art Holelaugher: Melonie Haberer
Dexter Fong: It's Melonie Farber
Dexter Fong: and she too is irregular
Art Holelaugher: The brain is the first thing to go...
Elayne: So, any Silly Site Suggestions this evening?

H Stones: sorry i disappeared, i was talking to Honey in NM and she may shortly be in the area
Elayne2: Bah, not my day.
Dexter Fong: Elayne, your doppleganger is here
Elayne2: Cool, Art, I adored the Onion News Network when it was on. Is it coming back?
Art Holelaugher: Good, good
cs: yes onion always excellent
Elayne2: My connection timed out, Dex. Turned out I was piggybacking the downstairs neighbor's wifi instead of connected to Robin's.
Art Holelaugher: It is on - the net
H Stones: if anyone has received any spam emails from me, i regret to say its the work of hackers and i have just altered all my passwords etc
Elayne2: I should subscribe to that channel, Art. I can actually see those things now with my phone or my TV if I want to.
Elayne2: Bummer, Stones. And hi.
DJTween: Have cued up Hotel
Dexter Fong: Fine fine fine my good man
H Stones: virtually the only thing i watch regularly on TV nowadays is The Big Bang Theory
Elayne2: Going back to watch baseball game. Later all!
||||||||| Elayne2 leaves at 9:53 PM, singing "Oh, I'm just a little fishy, floating in the sea, and there ain't no hook that's smart enough to catch the likes of me..."
DJTween: later E
cs: by el
Art Holelaugher: c ya E
||||||||| Catherwood says "9:54 PM, time for SOMEONE to leave!", grabs H Stones by the collar and gives 'em the old bum's rush out the door

DJTween: may have to paste it into your music program
DJTween: I'm playing Pink Hotel Burns Down
DJTween: Cool compilation from '76
cs: for some reason, nothing works for me
Dexter Fong: Perhaps youu're in a dead zone
Woody 1: I'm swamped with music space. Not much of a byte consumption?
DJTween: 24k mono
DJTween: for the bandwidth-challenged
Art Holelaugher: Wish I could get it Tween - crashes my VLC player
DJTween: at 24k? :/
||||||||| 10:09 PM: Merlyn jumps out of the hall closet saying "I've been listening to all of you talking about me for the past year and a half!"
DJTween: Hey Merl
Merlyn: hi hey

||||||||| It's 10:10 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| H Stones - dead from the common cold
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Art Holelaugher: HI

Woody 1: Tood bad posts disappear. Can you post again, Tween?

cs: didnt you read his post on facebook?
Merlyn: posts don't disappear, just check the log
cs: said the show would be for sale on the firesign site in time for the holidays

DJTween: It may be out of print, but there are copies out there on places like eBay and Amazon
DJTween: yes
Woody 1: Need to get it.
cs: you didnt know about the kirkland show, merl?
DJTween: fun compilation :)
cs: on an earlier planet proctor, phil mentioned that the la show would be podcast/sold as well, nothing this time bout that
Merlyn: I knew it would come out at some point
DJTween: I'm sure they wanted to make it a collectable product
DJTween: Like Danger and Duke
cs: when i asked taylor about it in previous monthes, he seemed a bit dubious
Merlyn: remember it was recorded by a pro camera crew
cs: yes pp mentioned it was gonna be a fundraising effort for lily
cs: yeah serious camera guys, not like us
Art Holelaugher: Is Lily the daughter of Peter Bergman?
cs: i remember judith tellling the camera-weilding crowd not to record, but to buy the podcast
Woody 1: "the things she must find out for herself, the things her husband does not know." Funny shit.
cs: yes art
DJTween: They're trying to put together a college fund for Bergman's kid, yes
cs: i met her for the first time at the kirkland memorial event. she looks more like her dad than you would believe
Art Holelaugher: Good
DJTween: and while we're at it, Damn Leukemia
cs: along with his quick wit and vast curiousity
Merlyn: I met her when Peter was checking out the studio for the first XM show
DJTween: Would still like to know if that was Lily at the beginning of Radio Now
cs: merl would know, not me
Merlyn: She's in this picture: https://firesigntheatrelegacy.com/xmradio/xm2.html
DJTween: Very funny opening to the show

DJTween: In the green shirt :)
DJTween: The opening of Radio Now, Merl
DJTween: The little girl announcer
Merlyn: oh, I don't know if that was her or not
DJTween: was funny
Merlyn: I think she'd be too old, Lily would be about 13 in 1997-1998
Merlyn: the girl if I remember sounded more like 9
cs: i think lily and the ossman kids are gonna want to make their own careers, not just be identified as the firesign kids
DJTween: Yeah, quite young
cs: proc's daughter may be more famous than him. she was on The Wire
DJTween: kewl, cease
Woody 1: My brain is drained for the day. Thanks for the links, friends. Early morning tomorrow. Did anyone ever see the Rugrats episode where Proctor did the voice for the birthday clown? And also, Proctor did the countdown in Rocky and Bullwinkle, the movie.
DJTween: Had no clue about that
cs: he was a character in the rocky/bullwinkle film, yes
DJTween: Love him in Amazon Women On The Moon
Dexter Fong
DJTween: 'Silly Pateé' skit
Dexter Fong: ;;
cs: the highlight of that film was phil getting a pay check for being in it
DJTween: lol
Woody 1: Actually present in R & B, yes.
cs: not just his head
Woody 1: Pretty bad film, I agree.
DJTween: As much as I love Steve Martin, he should have stayed away from Inspecteur Cleauseau
Woody 1: No doubt.
DJTween: The remake of PP was horrible
DJTween: There was only one Peter Sellers
Art Holelaugher: I am seriously impressed by all of your deep knowledge of current Firesign events!!
Woody 1: The second Out of Towners stank on ice.
DJTween: Speaking of P, where is he this evening?
DJTween: Glad I missed it, Woody
DJTween: Art, some of these people are Fireheads since there was a FST ;)
Woody 1: CVontinue to miss it, Tween.
DJTween: lol
cs: i go back almost to the beginning. i started listeningto bergman on krla in la in maybe april, 67
Woody 1: Totally different story and ending. Jack Lemmon and Sandy Denice were unmatchable.
Art Holelaugher: Hey I remember the Avant Guarde Radio Religious Hour on KRLA
DJTween: Are yo a fan of walter Mattheu?
Art Holelaugher: Jack poet spots
Merlyn: Tween, there were three Peter Sellers in Dr. Strangelove
DJTween: *you
cs: were you there in 67?
Art Holelaugher: No
DJTween: Strangelove was Sellers genius
Woody 1: Loved the Strangelove.
cs: i think one peter sellers was enough
DJTween: It was such a fun counter to the very serious Fail-Safe
Dexter Fong: I think the best thing Sellers ever did was Being here
||||||||| Outside, the 10:38 PM bus from Elmertown pulls away, leaving Principalpoop coughing in a cloud of diesel fumes.

cs: keep them out of the sun, poop
Dexter Fong: Bend over Poop, I'll piss on them
DJTween: Yeah, I was trying to think of the third part
DJTween: Slim Pickens worked really well
Principalpoop: ok, i will bend over and roll up my arm, i want premium please
Merlyn: George C Scott got mad at Kubrick; Kubrick told him to overact to warm up, and used those takes
Merlyn: dr strangelove, the english captain, and the prez
Principalpoop: is that right? poor george lol he did look silly
Art Holelaugher: Gentlemen, there will be no fighting in the War Room...
DJTween: Well, another Mattheu recommendation is Hopscotch with Glenda Jackson
DJTween: Ah, forgot about the English captain, of course
DJTween: Talk about versatile
Woody 1: The Apartment, The Fortune Cookie, The Front Page, and of course, The Odd Couple.
Principalpoop: plastic is versatile too

Principalpoop: order order, i call regular order
DJTween takes out his racket and sends P back to cease
Principalpoop: be gentle cs, no lobs please
cs: lits the regular and ethyll show
Principalpoop: argh
DJTween: I know you don;t think much of Hotel, cease, but I really like it

Principalpoop: i was googling and everyone left, alright for you, have a super week...
||||||||| Principalpoop runs out the back door as Mayor P'nisnose blasts through the front door holding a shotgun and shouting "Where's Principalpoop?! It's 11:16 PM and my ballot boxes haven't been stuffed yet!"
||||||||| Catherwood enters, and announces to all and sundry "It's 4:32 AM, time to change the log file and clean out unused rooms; please exit the chat room for a minute or two. Thank you for your patience."
