||||||||| RedPillTweeny - dead from the common cold
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood stumbles in and announces "Presenting 'RedPillTweeny', just granted probation at 7:39 PM", then leaves hurriedly.
||||||||| It's 7:50 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| RedPillTweeny - dead from measles
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| BloodyL waltzes in at 10:20 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
BloodyL: catherwood what time is it
||||||||| Catherwood says "It's 10:30 PM"
BloodyL: catherwood what time is it
||||||||| Catherwood says "It's 10:40 PM, precisely!"
||||||||| Catherwood leads Philbert inside, makes a note of the time (10:48 PM), then fades off into the distance going on about the waiting room or the sitting room or something.
Philbert: Catherwood what time is it?
||||||||| Catherwood says "It's 10:48 PM"
BloodyL: Hi phil :)
Philbert: Hello BloodyL!!!
BloodyL: getting all settled in for the show?
Philbert: Yes, I've got my mukluks by the fire!
||||||||| Gusts of wind blow in from outside and the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa of helicopter blades is heard as Happy Panditt's chopper lands on the lawn and fordprefect plummets into the garden at 10:50 PM.
Philbert: Here we go!
BloodyL: good stuff
fordprefect: Ouch. That....hurt!
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood intones: "10:56 PM and late as usual, it's cease, just back from British Columbia."
cease: am i the only thursday regular here? i seem to be on some other chat too
BloodyL waves
cease: i was just watching andy rooney reading letters, one of which read, "i am an electrician"
fordprefect: Ha hah........aaa
||||||||| Dexter Fong enters at 11:00 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and dashes off to the Hat Pack Annex.
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 11 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
BloodyL: hello
Dexter Fong: Hey BL
Dexter Fong: Cat
cease: hey dex
Dexter Fong: Ford and phil?
Dexter Fong: Hmm Phil Ford
Dexter Fong: Where's our link?
cease: are you listening to this, fong?
Dexter Fong: No cat, looking for waiting for a link
cease: http://www.radiofreeoz.com/Public/ChatPage
||||||||| Catherwood stumbles in at 11:03 PM, dragging Merlyn by one leg and asks "Can anyone vouch for this Yahoo ™?"
Dexter Fong: Thanks Cat
||||||||| New notice: 'http://www.radiofreeoz.com'
||||||||| New notice: 'http://www.radiofreeoz.com'
cease: hey merl
Dexter Fong: Thanks Merlyn]
||||||||| New topic: 'http://www.radiofreeoz.com'
Merlyn: hi cat
Merlyn: radio freez?
Merlyn: was there much of a preshow show?
Dexter Fong: Sub Zero Radio
BloodyL: 15 mins of banter
Merlyn: I nearly forgot
cease: about 10 minutes
cease: they were talknig about ww2, i guess some tv show
cease: did anyone hear hour hour from 6 pst?
Dexter Fong: You seem to be the prime user there cat
BloodyL: Band of Brothers
Dexter Fong: Luckily you're rexroding it (nudge nudge)
Dexter Fong: recording
cease: yes this is the 11th show. excellent as always
cease: i am making sure my sundays are available to tape hour hours and listen to this
BloodyL: IS jive playing stuff that isn't covered by the compilation album and LP's?
BloodyL: ahh, that's Dear Friends isn't it.
Dexter Fong: BL: Cat can provide more/better info but Jive is playing the Hour Hour shows most of which are not readily available
Dexter Fong: A show prior to Dear Friends
cease: unless yout got them from me, the tapes i made in june-july in 1970, not availblbe at all since then
BloodyL: Curses, been missing it, I hope someone has been archiving them
cease: this is new for me.jan-july 70
BloodyL: intellesting
cease: there is actually a guy in north vancouver, where i live, who has them all
Dexter Fong: I ssmell home invasion
cease: he was the station manager at kppc in 1970. i asked him if i could listen to his tapes and he said no
Dexter Fong: A true "Dear Friend"
cease: no i dont need his "generosity"
Dexter Fong: I smell home armed invasion
BloodyL: lol
cease: according to my talk with lads (merl too) in whidbey in january, they want to release all the hour hours, dear friends and lets eat as a box set
Dexter Fong: Hey, station manager is way different from on air talent
BloodyL: That would really be fantastic
Dexter Fong: I'd buy that in a Ducktown minute
cease: but they'd have to sell enough copies to justify the expense. still not the case with Box of Danger
||||||||| Bunnyboy enters at 11:15 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and scurries off to the Haberdashery Barn.
||||||||| wcguy sneaks in around 11:15 PM, trying to avoid Catherwood because of last year's "unpleasant incident."
Bunnyboy: yo
Dexter Fong: Hey Bunny
BloodyL: hey
Bunnyboy: Ah, the Easter attrition...
cease: hey bunny, wc
Dexter Fong: Hey JR
cease: this is fools in space minus the other half
Merlyn: hey bb wc
Bunnyboy: So, Mon-Fri podcasts, starting April 12th?
||||||||| residualecho bounds in at 11:17 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
residualecho: You see? I already have one.
Dexter Fong: have one
Dexter Fong: have one
Dexter Fong: have one
residualecho: Thanks. Two would be greedy.
cease: this sounds new
residualecho: greedy
residualecho: greedy
Bunnyboy: They're gorillas!
Bunnyboy: Erhrm...guerillas.
fordprefect: knockers only travel in pairs, no?
Dexter Fong: Geurreros in our midst
residualecho: Nice knockers do, Doctor
cease: that's a long way from the Elves Song
Bunnyboy: Must be listeners. No chat?
Dexter Fong: Chat yes
cease: whats up, bunny?
fordprefect: not quite Tom Lehrer
Dexter Fong: listening too
Merlyn: they're magillas
cease: all the newses had to have rabbit stories today
Dexter Fong: Rhesus appointment, he's appointing monkies?
residualecho: Remember the days when it was news if the rabbit died?
Bunnyboy: Rebus appointment: it's symbolic.
Dexter Fong: Haven't heard about rebus since the comet fell
Bunnyboy: Film recommend: FANTASTIC MR. FOX. Finally saw it today. Brilliant!
fordprefect: Not a children's film?
Dexter Fong: Ladies and Gentlemen of all ages
Bunnyboy: ford: I would put it in the "Family" genre...albeit a pretty hip family.
fordprefect: Made the mistake of purchasing Wild Things --what a drudge. anyone want a bluray copy cheep?
Bunnyboy: Based on a Roald Dahl book. Wunnerful.
residualecho: F Mr. F left my 4 yr. old squirmy before very long; she sat more enthusiastically for "How to Train Your Dragon"
cease: i don think bergman will be as presicent with his poliltical pics as he has been with other things in firesign
Merlyn: the NOP = no op in computerese
residualecho: The puppets in the Dahl film started looking like talking taxidermy to me after a while--shades of Jan Svankmajer
Bunnyboy: I'd say it's a lock for kids over 8.
residualecho: I can't recommend Dragon highly enough. Craig Ferguson (from Drew Carey show) hilarious voice in it.
cease: my wife wants to see Dragon.
residualecho: F Mr. F is, after all, a Wes Anderson film. Some sophisticated takeaways for a slightly older kid.
Bunnyboy: res: I just read that they used real staff members' hair, on the human characters. Svankmajeresque, indeed!
Dexter Fong: I recommend Ferguson's late night talk show...often, genuinely funny
fordprefect: Was just floored that Wild Things was a flat psychodrama. Giant puppets mop[ing about and gossiping.
Bunnyboy: Considerably less danger and creepiness.
fordprefect: that's moping.
Dexter Fong: Mopping about
BloodyL googles Jan Svankmajer, sounds interesting
residualecho: I'll be watching WTWTA mostly for the FX, only half listening.
residualecho: Svankmajer is a genius, but don't watch him to be charmed and entertained
Bunnyboy: They also shot the animation at 12 frames per second, to bring the stop-motion effects to the fore.
fordprefect: Anyway, rating it a big fat AVOID especially to anyone that liked the li'l book
residualecho: Not unusual for Stop Motion, and much hand animation
BloodyL: echo: not a problem
residualecho: I can enjoy an awful or wildly divergent adaptation and retain my enjoyment of the original.
Dexter Fong: Too much hand animation and you'll go blind
BloodyL: especially at 12 frames per second
residualecho: Or carpal tunnel
Bunnyboy: BloodyL: While you're googling Svankmajer, google the Quay Brothers. Similiar dynamics.
Dexter Fong: Wrist blindness
residualecho: "The Cabinet of Jan Svankmajer" by Bros. Quay a favorite
Bunnyboy: res: Case in point - King's and Kubrick's THE SHINING.
cease: did the show just end for a second?
residualecho: I wanted my animated topiary! But hedge maze worked just fine
Dexter Fong: Nope not here
BloodyL: That's great stuff, I'll head back to that after the show, thanks
fordprefect: ok here. eye/ear on the game too though.
||||||||| Catherwood accompanies the steel box into the room, accepts three dimes as a gratuity, grumbles something about 11:37 PM, then departs.
cease: i had to reload
cease: you got Dan in that box?
Dexter Fong: So Steel Box, we meet again?
Bunnyboy: Ni! No?
residualecho: Perhaps the server is under a load from hordes of fans who want to admire RFO, and touch its clothes
Dexter Fong: Sue? Si!!
Dexter Fong: But Echo, it's not wearing any clothes
cease: bergman said he had a thousand or so fans on rfo facebook
residualecho: Don't we just have to cue the organist, and fade back to the present?
fordprefect: haha, including clones?
cease: anyone know what the maximum number of listeners this site can have?
residualecho: What about the elevator boy?
||||||||| It's 11:40 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| wcguy - dead from jaundice
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Dexter Fong: The elevator boy is nakes, he is in your group also?
BloodyL welcome the steel box
Dexter Fong: naked
the steel box: that's what I get for watching Ironside on hulu
residualecho: Perhaps he sought sanctuary in a nearby cinema; normally of course, he doesn't go in, but there he saw something that very moved him. He'd like to share it with you. It's, the Sound of Music
Dexter Fong Sings The hills are alive with Eyes
the steel box: sausages with eyes
residualecho: Eyeball hats
Dexter Fong: Painting houses in the Valley
Merlyn: on pizzas
cease: this is the most optimistic i've heard bergman since 67
residualecho: Can't it only get better?
Dexter Fong: This is Les MOreman on the big Boss kpw
BloodyL: cease: nice one
cease: this is the end. or is it the beginning? no, it's the end
Dexter Fong: I see we are all sailors
Dexter Fong: Who's turn in the barrell
residualecho: It's all downhill form here.
cease: i started listening to him 43 years ago, almost to the day. it was a sunday in ealry april, 67
fordprefect: A bit too worshipful for me, cease.
cease: he's often spectaculalry wrong.
cease: but always entertaining
fordprefect: but of course.
fordprefect: or should I say off course?
fordprefect: Carbon offsets = taxic waste, nice.
residualecho: I love the Stan Freberg bit from United States--a longshoreman accidentally knocked a crate of tea overboard, and his shop steward decided it would be best to make up a story about rebels in Feathered Hats assaulting them
Dexter Fong: Well said PB
Dexter Fong: echo: lol
BloodyL: That was fun
residualecho: Hell Nome you can't!
Bunnyboy: Rap or rant? ; )
Dexter Fong: FREEBURG Was great
cease: still is. ive been listening to that album a lot recently
Bunnyboy: Freberg IS great! Still living, still working.
cease: he must be as old as norman corwin
fordprefect: Presently tense here.
Dexter Fong: afkfr
Merlyn: people still say "Play some Freberg"
residualecho: I got to meet Freberg at a SPRVAC(?) meeting--the president/host was blind, so Freberg poured a glass of ice water from a pitcher, and then did it by the guy's other ear--"Stereo!"
Bunnyboy: Freberg is 83.
cease: wow, barley older than dex
the steel box: Probably not as old as Ray Bradbury.
fordprefect: less grouchy too.
cease: if you havnet heard from them recently, it's hard to believe they still live
Dexter Fong: What's that cat...did you mention my name...speak up sonny
cease: yes, its the new e-words, dex. hard to hear as your eyes fail
Dexter Fong: I hadn't heard from either John Forsythe or June Havoc and sure enough , they're both dead
Dexter Fong: Let loose the Hounds of hell and cry "JUne Havocc"!
Dexter Fong: the extra "c' is for consternation
cease: better guitar playing this week
Dexter Fong: They finally tuned them
Dexter Fong: Gotta feeling Austin wont be on tonight
Bunnyboy: I'm a traitor. Bailin' to watch ep 4 of THE PACIFIC. See yez Thursday!
cease: you may be right, dex, but who expected him last week?
Dexter Fong: Aloha Bunny, remember Pearl Bailey
cease: ok bun
Bunnyboy: Dex: Austin is the least "on". He's a natural! ; )
residualecho: A pic of Stan Freberg from 2009: http://cagle.msnbc.com/hogan/reubens/reubens2009/heintjes_freberg.jpg
Dexter Fong: Cat: I meant on the show
cease: i think him and proc are guaranteed guests, if only on tape
||||||||| Bunnyboy leaves at 11:58 PM, singing "Oh, I'm just a little fishy, floating in the sea, and there ain't no hook that's smart enough to catch the likes of me..."
Dexter Fong: Cat: Yeah...but...It takes all four to make the real magic
cease: actually on the orignal shows it was often only 2 of them, at least one was often gone
Dexter Fong: Cat: Again, yeah...but it was always better/best with all four..just sayin' =))
||||||||| Catherwood walks in wearing his pyjamas, yawns, and mumbles "It's midnight here in New York city"...then he falls over and starts snoring loudly..
||||||||| "12:01 AM? 12:01 AM!!" says Catherwood, "llanwydd should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as llanwydd enters and sits on the divan.
llanwydd: hi
cease: you, and i think everyone here knows them from their albums, when they were the 4. i rmember when it was just bergman
Dexter Fong: llanwydd, you shoulda been here by now
BloodyL: hello
cease: hi llan
Merlyn: hey llan
llanwydd: well, if I was here I'd be home by now
cease: i don t think we can complain roller maidens is only written by austin or how time flies is writen by ossman only
cease: you're home here, llan
Dexter Fong: Cat: Again, I know about the beginnings etc.. I'm just saying that there was a serenndipitous aspect with all four together
llanwydd: so I am
llanwydd: both are great albums
Dexter Fong: The sum was always greater than the whole of their parts
cease: yes, and you can hear that serendipity at its first real flowering on Hour Hour, which is actually on now, live from 1970
residualecho: Sometimes it takes all of them to give PB time to breathe
cease: it was thier first show as the firesign theatre. earlier shows weren't
Dexter Fong: echo: Tis true
cease: indeed, echo
cease: on radiojive.
Dexter Fong: Proctor could always rein in Bergman
residualecho: Because of the solos, and the P&B pairings, it's interesting to hear B&O teaming up.
cease: probalby from Yale days, dex
cease: the krla oz and the kmet oz were mostly bergman/ossman, that i can recall
Dexter Fong: Could be, but Procotr would just start doing schtick and crack Bergman up and get him off his rap/rant
residualecho: I know I heard em in the sixties on KPPC, KPFK, KRLA, KMET
Dexter Fong: I'm turning my fire escape into an Esplanade and paying a Mariachi Band to stroll up and down
cease: not in that order, echo
cease: you listened to bergman on the original rfo on kpfk from the summer of 66?
residualecho: Probably not. There just weren' many other stations I could tune in.
fordprefect: slightly too young for that but I do remember Mounds Turner , Jim Ladd, Shadoe Stevens
residualecho: I must have heard it; I was only 11, had been listening to radio for a year.
Dexter Fong: I remember victory gardens...gave me a chance to get acquainted with a whole bunch of vegetables it wouyld take me a long time to appreciate
fordprefect: Oh no, is Austin going to remember to turn that damn thing down?
cease: i think it was on at midnight. i was in 11th grade and would be visitng or talknig to high school friends and that kpfk show would be on, but i didnt pay any attention to it
llanwydd: victory gardens were before my time
llanwydd: my gardens have always been defeated
residualecho: I started listening to radio as a 10 yr old in 65, to KHJ and KRLA, then KPFK, KMET, KABC-FM
Dexter Fong: I was in 11th or 12th grade when I first heard Gene Sheperd on the radio from KFP in philly
llanwydd: I've never listened to a station with a K in the name
llanwydd: I used to hear gene shepherd on WOR in NYC
residualecho: I remember out of KPPC, Dr. Demento would do "Bathtime with Bach"--I don't know if wasn't still just calling himself Barry
Dexter Fong: Most "K" station are west moid/west coast but Philly was one of the first big stations
Dexter Fong: 50k Watts clear channel
cease: lol llan
llanwydd: it's true. I've never been west of san antonio. I wouldn't hear the K stations
Dexter Fong: llan: How about WKBW early big time R&R station outta buffalo, again 50k watts clear channel
Dexter Fong: You could hear that sucker in Florida
cease: i wonder if people that young are listeniing to this
residualecho: XERB, baby!
cease: aside from preston
residualecho: Lox Populi?
Dexter Fong: Ah you buncha sissyies, you don't know what radio was really like
fordprefect: offshore?
llanwydd: LOL echo
Dexter Fong: Staying up all night DXing on the Had Channels
Dexter Fong: Hard
llanwydd: I don't remember the age of radio drama, but I've heard radio drama
Dexter Fong: Austin!!
residualecho: Tell it to the Ishtar Bunny!
llanwydd: the first radion theatre I ever heard was Radio Mystery Theatre hosted by E.G. Marshall
llanwydd: I meant radio
residualecho: KPFK was great for all night radio, playing the old time X Minus One, or Norman Corwin
cease: my cousin opened my hometown's first radio station the year before i was born. so i grew up in the medium
Dexter Fong: llan: Ever hear a recording of Orson Welles broadcast "War of the Worlds"?
llanwydd: I used to listen to that regularly
cease: i heqrd x minus one when it was first broadcast in mid 50s. had a great impression on me
llanwydd: I heard that one dex
residualecho: Probably still is. I keep forgetting to tune in some the LA stations that I can get from the iphone, or streaming from Roku
llanwydd: I've asked old people if they heard it. they usually say no
llanwydd: in fact they always say no. my grandmother told me she was at a sunday evening church service when it aired
residualecho: I'm an old people!
Dexter Fong: llan: They gotta be really old people....1939 broadcast IIRC
cease: i parodied it with david and his son orson on Red Shift
llanwydd: 1938 actually
Dexter Fong: Thranks llan
Dexter Fong: )=
Dexter Fong: =)
Dexter Fong: =)
residualecho: I'm probably one of the younger old people here
Dexter Fong: Well cat is 84 years old
residualecho: Or one of the older young people
Dexter Fong: or is it 48
Dexter Fong: well he looks 84
llanwydd: no, dex. that's me
residualecho: How OrsonWellian
cease: and here's phil.
Merlyn: a quad-fectra
llanwydd: did you see my new picture in the "rogues gallery"?
Dexter Fong: Does anyone here know about Tony alamo?
llanwydd: newer anyway
Merlyn: it's like a trifecta + 1
Merlyn: I remember the tony alamo
residualecho: I enjoy it when people hum under me too!
llanwydd: trifecta is a pontiac model isn't it?
cease: or a duofecta brown shoed squared
cease: i thought tony alamo was a soprano character
Dexter Fong: Merlyn: TA is a fundemetalist christian based in (what else) Texas who (he says) has been hounded by the government
BloodyL: rofl cease!
Merlyn: I was hounded by the baskervilles
llanwydd: LOL Merl
Dexter Fong: Teach you to be such a social climber Merlyn
Merlyn: I only asked if they were too short to play baskerville
Merlyn: don't step on phil's lines
BloodyL: hehe
||||||||| Phil Austin strides in at 12:25 AM with Danny Vanilla badgering him for an interview; since he has no badgers, Catherwood forcibly escorts Danny Vanilla out the door.
Dexter Fong: I usually get my handouts stuck under my windshield
cease: hi phil
llanwydd: Hey Phil!
Dexter Fong: Hey Mr President
BloodyL: Welcome back Phil!
cease: happy mirthday
cease: uh, birthsign, or something
Phil Austin: Ha. Here again.
fordprefect: A little song?
Merlyn: hey other phil
Dexter Fong: a little dance?
residualecho: So, bunnies aren't in everybody's eggs, Prof. Austin?
Dexter Fong: A little setzer down the pants?
Merlyn: seltzer/pants?
BloodyL: Enjoyed the crucified rabid rabbits, funy stuff
Dexter Fong: My family is well cultured
Phil Austin: The show is over. I talked to Proc this eve by skype
Merlyn: how about yogurt cults?
cease: how is going, phil?
fordprefect: turn that thing down!
Phil Austin: there they go, they're leaving and now they're going to be on everyday
Dexter Fong: We hie to the greek culture
Phil Austin: hey cat, raining here of course
cease: we had snow briefly last night
BloodyL: Wow, not sure what to say
Dexter Fong: Almost in time for the olypnpics
residualecho: Sounds like a marathon
cease: some frineds with young kids were over and we took icy to a park, shot some vid of him finally sunny enough to shoot outdoors
Merlyn: do you know when it's doing daily?
Dexter Fong: Sun rise, sun down
Phil Austin: Did I tell you we've got two twin puppys, red cattle dogs?
Dexter Fong: How many herd yah running there Phil
cease: did you have them when i met you and oona in langley?
BloodyL googles
llanwydd: interesting, Phil. never heard of a cattle dog. do they moo?
Phil Austin: Too many dogs. We're up to seven now, if you count the two chihuahuas as full dogs
Phil Austin: cease: nope
cease: lol
BloodyL: nice!
cease: wow, that's really new then
Dexter Fong: Phil: Do you remember that joke Phil P told long ago on Hour Hour about the dogs in a balloon?
residualecho: I can picture where sheep dogs come from, but don't want to contemplate cattle dog...
Dexter Fong: Echo: YOu get used to the horns
residualecho: I never have...
Dexter Fong: Horn dogs
Phil Austin: dex; Not hardly
cease: a german shephard, a french poodle, a mexican chihuahua and an american dog wer in a balloon
Dexter Fong: Five dogs in a ballon loosing altitude and one by one each separate breed shouted out somethin patriotic and leaped ou
cease: i forgot the amercian breed but i remember the joke
cease: english bull dog said god save the queen, poodle siad vive la france
Dexter Fong: Finally, american german shepherd shouted remember the alamo and throws chihuahua overboard
cease: saying
cease: Remember the Alamo
Dexter Fong: It was a big hit when Proctor told it =))
Merlyn: Phil, do you know if the next show really is Monday April 12?
cease: we aint proctor
fordprefect: amercian german shepherd?
Phil Austin: somewherre in FST world proctor says "horn dog of babylon" but I can't remember where
Dexter Fong: Cat: But we can try
cease: from gimme immortality, chopper talks as i recall
Phil Austin: Merl: I know little, but I think I heard pete just say that they were quitting the sun night show and going to five days a week for an hour
Dexter Fong: I thought he said "Corn" dog
residualecho: Drinking from a Big Gulp...
Merlyn: right, that's what I thought
Phil Austin: Maybe it's in - yes, that's it - Unconscious Village: it's one of the mattress names
Dexter Fong: The corn dog of Babylon drinking from a big gulch or wadi
residualecho: That's what I thought I heard also, but didn't catch which hour.
Merlyn: I'll check and send out a mailing -- do we have chats every weeknight now?
llanwydd: I AM asleep!
Phil Austin: Good at summer fairs, Corn Dogs of Babylon. With mustard.
cease: there is intellectual and audio richness to your work as the olfactory world is to a dogs nose
Dexter Fong: God bless Merl, you can open the doors but I can't be here that often
Dexter Fong: afkfw
cease: i don tthink so, merl
llanwydd: fw, dex?
Phil Austin: Yes, of course. The Corn Dog booth would be manned by some Iraqi immigrant, thus Babylon.
llanwydd: LOL
residualecho: As much as I listen to talk (like "Mama & the Mooks"), I'd be happy to be able to catch a dose daily from RFO and cohorts
cease: changing format already? i hope there's enough of an audience for it
residualecho: I think it's great that it's just being put out there at all. There really wasn't much to FM before FST showed what could be done with it...
fordprefect: start time was earlier? maybe catch more audience that way?
Phil Austin: Bill the producer told me they only had 92 listeners the first week and a few less last week.
cease: yes echo, but am radio in those days was very good.
cease: wow. i would have though hundreds. it was certainly flogged on facebook
residualecho: and now, am radio is very bad
the steel box: I just don't understand radio>
cease: if you understand firesign, you understand radio, at least what it could be, once was, and perhaps shall be again
fordprefect: 92? rats, thought would have been more. going to try to make the show @ Cascade in June, 600mile drive though.
BloodyL: Was a pleasure to be a part of it though, the change will allow people to listen whenever their busy schedule allows them, but also removes the community edge of it all, shame#
residualecho: You guys can fill fill venues with ten times that many, easy.
residualecho: Well, you make it look easy, anyway
BloodyL: heh
residualecho: as easy as radio can look
Dexter Fong: Filling a venue is asy, it's comedy that's tough
residualecho: If radio is a heartbreaker, what's a webcast?
cease: i remember the digital diner. bergman's pilots for a radio show in the mid 90s that abruptly ended
Dexter Fong: A kiss of the SPIDER WOMEn?
llanwydd: I've been a broadcaster. I can tell you it's a heartbreak
cease: a e-heartbreaker, echo
BloodyL: Aye, remember that too, along with other doodles in the matrix such as Pyst, rofl
Phil Austin: Peter is forever hopeful
cease: yes around the pyst era, L
fordprefect: we too
cease: to be alive is to hopeful
BloodyL: it's worth a try, if it works, great, if not, just twek it till it does work
residualecho: These days, the e's are all i's. I guess we'll have to get PYST and turn on our iPads for more Radio Free Oz
Dexter Fong: Wll Phil...if you don't have hope what have you? I've been wondering for a while now
Merlyn: Peter needs to get a fatwa on his show or something
Dexter Fong: America'a greatest fatwas
residualecho: What's it take to be declared an enemy of the State on Faux news these days, anyway?
Dexter Fong: What state did you have in mind?
||||||||| It's 12:50 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Philbert - dead from the common cold
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
residualecho: Perhaps a Play in 5 acts...
BloodyL: what state is your mind in?
residualecho: "three of them immoral..."
Dexter Fong: I got a New Jork kinda mind
residualecho: CA, wine country adjacent
