||||||||| Catherwood re-enters the Waiting Room and explains "This is the main discussion room which is logged each night."
||||||||| Catherwood announces, "The time is 4:33 AM - I now declare Thursday's chat log for December 29, 2005 officially open!"... and then, he retires back to the vestibule...
||||||||| Catherwood walks up and pipes up "Presenting 'Firebroiled', just granted probation at 8:59 AM", then leaves hurriedly.
Firebroiled: Today is the anniversary of the massacre at Wounded Knee which took place on this day in 1891. Twenty‑two years before that, the tribes in what became South Dakota had signed a treaty with the United States of America which guaranteed them, "absolute and undisturbed use of the Great Sioux Reservation (that part of South Dakota west of the Missouri River)... No persons... shall ever be permitted to pass over, settle upon, or reside in territory described in this article, or without consent of the Indians pass through the same. This makes me ashame and they still pull the same scam, today.
Firebroiled: and the beat goes on.........
||||||||| Firebroiled departs at 9:00 AM, singing "Toad away, toad away; toad away, toad away! Where do you go when you're toad away?"
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood pipes up: "1:26 PM and late as usual, it's gonzo31u, just back from Pennsylvania."
gonzo31u: hello
gonzo31u: is there anyone here
||||||||| It's 1:40 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| gonzo31u - dead from measles
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| Catherwood steals into the room, and pipes up "Announcing 'Hemlock Stones', also known as 'Nancy' -- the time is 5:19 PM" -- then he slowly retires back into the anteroom...
Hemlock Stones: If anyone should ask, tell them I am in the engine room !
||||||||| It's 5:30 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Hemlock Stones - dead from Globner's disease
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
||||||||| ah,clem waltzes in at 8:54 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
||||||||| New CNI streaming notice: '"a few minutes with FireSign Theatre" at about 9 eastern, more dear friends (classics), Dear Friends'
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, December 29, 2005 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!"
||||||||| "9:02 PM? 9:02 PM!!" says Catherwood, "Bambi should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as Bambi enters and sits at the bar.
Bambi: hi Clem :-)
Bambi: Hemlock Stones said: If anyone should ask, tell them I am in the engine room !
Bambi: lol
||||||||| Catherwood enters with TOR Hershman close behind, mumbles something about disrupting his 9:09 PM tree-stunting plans, and runs off to the anteroom.
TOR Hershman: Howdy do
Bambi: hi TOR
||||||||| "9:10 PM? 9:10 PM!!" says Catherwood, "StephenFullerTweeny should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as StephenFullerTweeny enters and sits at the bar.
StephenFullerTweeny: Evening all...
TOR Hershman: Hey, who wants to hear 'bout moi's liver flush I did today?
TOR Hershman: Howdy do
StephenFullerTweeny: Are we not doing the radio tonight?
TOR Hershman: I D K
TOR Hershman: Smart respone on the liver flush question?
TOR Hershman: response
StephenFullerTweeny: Sounds like a really good time, TOR...
Bambi: hi Tweeny
Bambi: radio is up and running as far as I know on CNI Radio :-)
TOR Hershman: Well, is a big green pile on crap weight off.
StephenFullerTweeny: There you are, Clem!
Bambi: the link is at the top for clickable .pls ... but here's the link if you want to just input into your media player: http://216.234.115.10:8000/
Bambi: Lock your Wigs! (starting now...should catch up with the lag in about 2 min.)
StephenFullerTweeny: I was thrown off by the tech talk. Thought maybe that was what was going to be playing.
StephenFullerTweeny: Hve you been cleaning Windows, Bambi?
Bambi: yes, been cleaning windows bigtime!
||||||||| "9:17 PM? 9:17 PM!!" says Catherwood, "cease should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as cease enters and sits in the comfy chair.
StephenFullerTweeny: We're glad you made it!
||||||||| Gusts of wind blow in from outside and the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa of helicopter blades is heard as Happy Panditt's chopper lands on the lawn and Elayne disembarks at 9:18 PM.
Elayne: Evenin' all!
Bambi: hi Elayne!!!
cease: hi cni
Bambi: this first piece has some hum in it ... the piece came that way ... but a great piece ... not long
StephenFullerTweeny: Hey E, cease...
Bambi: hi Cat!
cease: i shuold have a cd in mail to you tomorrow
cease: hey el
Bambi: awesome Cat ... much thanks
Elayne: Hi Cat, I didn't get what you wanted me to look at via the email you sent yesterday.
ah,clem: hi all
cease: the tyee is a local webzine. there was an article about female cartoonists i thought you should read
cease: sounds like somoene i'd meet at thee friends of lulu meeting i attended
||||||||| Catherwood leads klokwkdog inside, makes a note of the time (9:21 PM), then fades off into the distance going on about the waiting room or the sitting room or something.
Elayne: Well, I didn't see the link to it...
Bambi: hi Klok :-)
StephenFullerTweeny: Hey Klok...
cease: ok, i'll resend.
klokwkdog: hello everybody
klokwkdog: bambi - 133K audio file ready for you. sent the link
Elayne: Just copy the URL here and I'll click on it.
cease: http://thetyee.ca/Photo/2005/12/28/GirlsDraw/
Elayne: Hey Klok!
klokwkdog: hello E
cease: it sounded a lot like the lulu comics you gave me and that meeting attended
klokwkdog: Tweeny, cat
klokwkdog: hey Tor
Elayne: Ah, they mention Pia. She and I have had a few back-and-forths on message boards.
Bambi: I downloaded it already Klok ... JL hasn't had time to get it yet
Elayne: Well, not everything "women and comics" is Lulu. :)
ah,clem: when on air, cannot d/l anything Klok
cease: this firesign show is new to me
Elayne: In fact, I'm not even involved in Friends of Lulu any more. No time.
cease: true, el
Bambi: I heard you say "This is Klok" and something about "listeners" but I couldn't make out the rest ... looked like you were having some fun with echo effects :-)
cease: youve left comics for blogs?
Elayne: With the heart episode, I really need to simplify, so some things have gone permanently by the wayside.
Elayne: Like I said, Cat, not enough time for everything. I still read the stuff, and want to write it, but there's a limit as to how much I can socialize, particularly no longer working in Manhattan.
cease: alas
klokwkdog: Bambi - it's an ogg file, special message to certain CNI radio listeners
cease: makes sense
Elayne: The last thing I need is for some comics person to pressure me to organize something.
Elayne: My organizing days need to be over if I'm to keep an even keel.
cease: simplify, simplify
cease: good mantra
Elayne: And that's pretty much what Lulu became, one of those "if Elayne doesn't do it, it doesn't get done" deals, and those are never any fun.
Bambi: I am able to listen to .ogg files with winamp and vlc ... but I have a bad time with echos ... discerning the root words as it were
Elayne: Case in point, the Women Doing Comics list has been updated maybe once since I stopped maintaining it, and that was years ago.
klokwkdog: Bambi -- there's nothing in it for Root...
Elayne: I don't even have enough time to read things any more, other than online.
Bambi: LOL
Elayne: That stuff you brought when you came over... still unread. Driving me nuts.
cease: and that was long ago
cease: but you have to get your health together more than yu have to read anything
Elayne: True.
klokwkdog: darn, the holiday is near and I haven't bought a new duck press. darn!
Bambi: yes, all will come in time Elayne ... don't worry about anything. If you don't get to it today, or tomorrow, it will still be there when you do. :-)
ah,clem: still a bit of time, Klok
||||||||| PrincipalPoop sashays in at 9:31 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
StephenFullerTweeny: Hey P...
klokwkdog: hey, poop
Elayne: Exactly, it's sitting in the bathr-- uh, reading room for whenever I get to it.
PrincipalPoop: hellodeedoo
Elayne: Hey PrinPoop!
cease: the pooper
PrincipalPoop: is this your door knocker?
Bambi: hi PrincipalP
cease: is my door pregnant?
Bambi thinks that PP likes to change his spelling of Principal each week to throw me off LOL
PrincipalPoop: every party needs a pooper thats why ...
PrincipalPoop: I think this spelling is the definitive spelling
PrincipalPoop: I heard your door swings cat
ah,clem: hi PP
PrincipalPoop: ahhh, clem, how are you?
StephenFullerTweeny: Listened to an interview with Gene Wilder on Fresh Air today where they mentioned the joke about the door knockers (what a set of knockers!)
StephenFullerTweeny: Anyone going to be here on NYE?
PrincipalPoop kisses bambi hello
ah,clem: how can I tell, I'm on the radio
TOR Hershman: Just got back, had'ta feed Pinky (Panicking President Pink Lemonde Cat) on the proch.
PrincipalPoop: louie nye? tuna and mayo on nye?
StephenFullerTweeny: The cat was proaching again?
TOR Hershman: K. Mars was fabulous in Young Franken.....
Elayne: Oh yeah, we're not going anywhere for awhile, we're here in da Bronx on Saturday night, far away from the madding crowd in Times Square.
Bambi: LOL Clem :-)
klokwkdog: Tweeny -- check the Fresh Air with Terri Gar, which gives another angle on Young F casting
TOR Hershman: Porch perchin'
Bambi: Radio Check ... how does it sound tonight?
klokwkdog: sounds like a radio, Bambi
PrincipalPoop: both ears, sounds good
StephenFullerTweeny: I've got a note to myself to check out the Garr interview. Bet it's good.
TOR Hershman: Terri Gar, as many of us - all later, used to be HOT!
TOR Hershman: Me, ages ago enter the WAS level.
StephenFullerTweeny: Hard to tell with the older source material, but so far so good.
PrincipalPoop: roll roll roll in the hay
ah,clem: the hum is in the recording, but it is a rare piece
klokwkdog: Madeline Kahn was 'spozed to be Wilder's lab assistant
PrincipalPoop: there is a hum? I thought it was my tinintus
cease: yes this is wonderful ah clem. new to me
Bambi: yes, time can be so unkind
TOR Hershman: Hey, look who has had the #1 song on the Rock (Unclassified) [& unclassy[ chart over the Hollow Days. http://www.soundlift.com/browse/chart.php?genre_id=72&ChartType=downloads
klokwkdog: Clem- yes, it's very vintage-sounding hum. I think it may be fundamental, not 120
StephenFullerTweeny: It worked out very well with Feldman as Igor.
Bambi: lol PrincipalP
TOR Hershman: that's EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe gor
TOR Hershman: yes, a work of genius
ah,clem: yes 60 hz base for sure
Elayne: That's you, TOR?
PrincipalPoop: I don't hear that ahh, clem
TOR Hershman: Yep
StephenFullerTweeny: Sorry, the browser crashed...
ah,clem: some harmonics, but mostly the root
Elayne: Congratulations. XXX, though?
StephenFullerTweeny: That's Eyegor...
Bambi: Yes, Young FrankenstEEEN was great :-)
TOR Hershman: Thank you very munch
Elayne: I don't know if my heart can deal with "mature themes" any more...
klokwkdog: Tweeny -- Mac programs aren't spozed to crash!
PrincipalPoop: congrats tor
PrincipalPoop: this chatroom is usually ok E
StephenFullerTweeny: I'm using OS 9 with a beta browser. Not the system's fault...
ah,clem: that is absolutly absurd, how could I know what you hear,
PrincipalPoop: now show us your tits
StephenFullerTweeny: OS X doesn't crash.
Elayne: Oh dear, I'm reading the lyrics to one of them. No thanks, but congrats anyway. :)
TOR Hershman: Yeah, I was surprised. Heck, it even made the Top Ten, on the regular Rock Chart, for a couple of days. Of course, I rule the Comedy Chart.
PrincipalPoop: you know what I hear because you feed my ears
TOR Hershman: Well, Elayne, (Say, you're not from Norther Ohio, are you) you can listen to "The Lion Farts Tonight."
klokwkdog: actually, a few years later, some Timorese hijacked a Dutch train...
PrincipalPoop: take this train to cuba
Elayne: Ah good, nothing says "uplifting for the holidays" like scatalogical humor. Or the yarmulkebra.
StephenFullerTweeny: Man, this is an OLD skit...
klokwkdog: no can do, Poop. dis' train done bound for glory...
ah,clem :)
TOR Hershman: But, Elayne, the filler sound effects our most jocular. We laugh to keep from, errrrrrrrrrrr, something.
PrincipalPoop: hehe she said uplifting hehe
cease: when do you go back to work, el, or are you already?
Elayne: Nothing says "filler sound effects" like the yarmulke bra as well, come to think of it.
Elayne: http://www.yarmulkebra.com/
Elayne: Cat, I've been at work since the 11th.
klokwkdog: ah, the F-104
Elayne: I only had the two days off in the hospital.
cease: bummer
StephenFullerTweeny: Now that's what I call worshipping...
Elayne: And I got docked half a day's pay.
PrincipalPoop: that is novel
TOR Hershman: I thought Jewish folk couldn't mix meat and milk.
klokwkdog: TOR - that was back when both of them were real, not synthetics
Elayne: As in, mother's milk and sweater meat? Hmm, I never thought about that. But then my mind usually doesn't tend that way...
cease: sounds like scrooge, el
StephenFullerTweeny: LoL TOR...
PrincipalPoop: For Yarmulkebra updates, join the elist, another sentence created by computer AI that no human would ever write
Bambi: This year was very hard for Christmas ... first year my Dad wasn't somewhere on the planet to talk to
Elayne: Cat, lots of places dock their workers pay if they're out sick. It's not that unusual in the US.
cease: thihngs are better here, el
StephenFullerTweeny: Man, do we need a health program like Canada or what?
TOR Hershman: Well, you never listened to moi's "Sing Like A Ruptured Munchkin," a favorite on Radio 666.
Elayne: Well, Cat, make your weather a bit more temperate and find me a job in North Van and I'm there. :)
TOR Hershman: Silly Cone, never had it, and precious little of the real.
StephenFullerTweeny: Yeah, Bambi, the holidays can actually be sort of depressing at times.
Elayne: Robin can work anywhere, his penciller lives in Brazil and he uses the computer to receive pages from there and send them to DC Comics in Manhattan...
cease: i'll just wave my magic wand....
StephenFullerTweeny: Please do, cease...
cease: we have friends visitng from berkely now and its warmer here than sf now
PrincipalPoop: wrong chat cease, wave your wand someplace else
cease: i said my Magic wand, poop
Elayne: Apparently you'd be able to wave your wand on one of TOR's songs.
cease: oddly as i typed sf, bergman began his sf story
Elayne: Magic wand, that's what all you guys call it, isn't it?
PrincipalPoop: sure sure, Heart sang about her Magic man
TOR Hershman: Depressing! Heck, the ole PBS ed-program (I never been able to verify this) said that Decmember 26 is the day most devout Christians, that try, commit suicide.
TOR Hershman: Magic Wand or Don Wand
PrincipalPoop: tiny bubbles
Bambi: you are right Tweeny ... almost didn't put up the tree and nativity or anything ... wasn't till I finally pushed myself to put up the tree that I realized what the major part of the depression was all about.
Elayne: Tiny bubbles, that's what all we gals actually call it...
StephenFullerTweeny: An ancient cockroach in a sombrero waves his wand...
TOR Hershman: Geoge Shrinks (PBS kids show or Seinfeld reference, you decide)
PrincipalPoop: that they know at once to be Don Brouhaha
TOR Hershman: brewwww haaaa haaaa ha hahahahaha
PrincipalPoop: rosanne said men created maps because only men could think that 1 inch equals 100 miles
StephenFullerTweeny: Any possibility FST will be going back into the studio in the near future?
StephenFullerTweeny: Arquette?
TOR Hershman: Tiny bubbles, beans and a bath tub - the orignial Jaccuzzzieee
cease: merl would know, but he's not here
PrincipalPoop: cough cough
cease: i'll call the phils when i'm in la
cease: just got out of jacuzzi before this chat
TOR Hershman: Rosanne was funkin' funny in early stand-up
PrincipalPoop: no, the other one tween
cease: damaged my back cleaning it yesterday, might as well get some use out of it
TOR Hershman: I just quit fartin' in the tub before this chat
StephenFullerTweeny: I'll bet a jacuzzi's nice in the CN winter. Topped 80 here this week.
Bambi: I hear you TOR ...
TOR Hershman: Bad timing, Bambi
Elayne: You know, Cat, I'm pretty sure that's not the way jacuzzis are supposed to work. Isn't it supposed to be the opposite?
PrincipalPoop: they say 51 for us tomorrow here in roanoke, that is warm
cease: more like spring these days
PrincipalPoop: the chat delay can be brutal hehehe
Bambi: yes, yes it was LOL
StephenFullerTweeny: Not at all bad for VA in late December.
PrincipalPoop: unusual, the snow will finally melt I think
Bambi: especially with a 30 sec refresh because we are streaming on dialup LOL
cease: internationlal linguistcs on parade. that's a great one
StephenFullerTweeny: Van definitely has nicer weather than the rest of CN.
Bambi: Virginia ... last week of December 55 degrees during the day for much of the week...no complaints there :-)
PrincipalPoop: I heard that bambi
PrincipalPoop: unpressed, cool
TOR Hershman: Gotta go, kids are calling soon. Stay on Groovin' Safari, TOR
StephenFullerTweeny: Bye TOR...
Bambi: night TOR
PrincipalPoop: chao tor
klokwkdog: nite TOR
cease: tor
StephenFullerTweeny: As WC would say, "Happiness is have a warm, loving family. In another city..."
StephenFullerTweeny: having
||||||||| Catherwood leads doctecxmas inside, makes a note of the time (9:56 PM), then fades off into the distance going on about the waiting room or the sitting room or something.
cease: hey it's the doctor
doctecxmas: ho ho har-de-har-har
StephenFullerTweeny: Yo Doc...
PrincipalPoop: merry christmas doc
Bambi: lol Tweeny
Bambi: hey doctec
cease: you missed first half of rare dear friedns album, doc
cease: ive never heard it
doctecxmas: evenin' all - lili made it to frisco, she's with her brother over the holidays
Elayne: Hi Tom! Hope your Christmas was nice! Sorry we didn't get up to see you before the holidays.
doctecxmas: a dear friends you've never heard? whoa...
Elayne: Oh, great to hear it, please send her my best!
PrincipalPoop: ahhh super, give my heart please
PrincipalPoop: oops look for it, I left it there
cease: we have some berkeleyans visiting us now. said its warmer here
Elayne: I wouldn't leave her my heart, not with what it's been through lately!
doctecxmas: i'm sorry i missed last week too - it's lili's fault
Bambi: you left your heart in frisco PP?
PrincipalPoop: yes bambi
Bambi: our best to you and Lili
doctecxmas: her lousy sense of time resulted in a near all nighter wednesday night, we almost didn't get her to her flight thursday morning
ah,clem: not to worry though, got 2 more rare movies cued
PrincipalPoop: glad she is doing better
doctecxmas: then i spent most of thursday getting a large box of gifts together for dad & family in illinois, got it to them just in time
||||||||| It's 10:00 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| TOR Hershman - dead from dengue fever
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
StephenFullerTweeny: Hope things are looking very much up for Lili, Doc...
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 10:00 PM and Dexter Fong waltzes out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
Dexter Fong: Evening all
PrincipalPoop: hello fongster
cease: yeah i know about that, doc
StephenFullerTweeny: The Inscrutible Fong
Elayne: Hey Unca Dex! Merry Christmas!
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 10 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Bambi: hi Dex
Dexter Fong: Dont Scru wid me
doctecxmas: lili is having a great time in frisco, and the debilitating effects of her treatments this year are wearing off - her stamina is returning along with all her hair
PrincipalPoop: you need to make your own new happy christmas memories bambi, keep flying
StephenFullerTweeny: Bah, humbug...
Elayne: You're not heading up to Times Square on Saturday, are you?
Elayne: Great to hear, Tom!
StephenFullerTweeny: Cool, Doc
PrincipalPoop: wats de madder dexxx?
Dexter Fong: Elayne: I'm not insane
doctecxmas: anyway by the time all was said and done thursday night, i crashed at 8:30pm and slept 12 hrs straight
cease: wonderful news, doc
Dexter Fong: Nothing PP, why?
cease: hi dex
PrincipalPoop: since when fong? sad to hear it
doctecxmas: otherwise i would have been here last thursday
Dexter Fong: Hey cat..package arrive yet?
cease: you needed the sleep
Elayne: The treatments aren't just hard on the person undergoing them, Tom. Doesn't surprise me that you crashed.
StephenFullerTweeny: You doing OK, E?
PrincipalPoop: Dont Scru wid me? I like to scud wid you
cease: not yet, dex. but i did get a nice package from doctec
doctecxmas: e: yeah, i have to say having 2 wks to myself is a welcome respite
cease: will be most apprecaited when i get to la, doc
PrincipalPoop: spiteful and respiteful
Bambi: very true Elayne ... it wore our entire family out when my Dad went through all that
doctecxmas: oh, cat: when are you giving this talk to the grade school kids?
cease: when i get back from la.
doctecxmas: i am hoping it is sometime next week, that'll give me the next 2-3 days to get the rest of the AQ stuff up
cease: 'm supposed to get back on jan 13th but we'll see what happens in la
Elayne: Much better, Tweeny, thanks. Yes Bambi, and my heart has gone out to you during this period...
doctecxmas: oh, even longer
doctecxmas: well, i'll still try and get it done before the end of the year - literaly -
Elayne: Although, as I said before, I have to watch where that heart goes, it's a bit tuckered out...
cease: yes, take it easy, el
Elayne: Had my treadmill stress test today. Was amazed at how little stamina I have.
Dexter Fong: afk to retrieve CNI
||||||||| Dexter Fong scurries out the back door as Mayor P'nisnose blasts through the front door holding a shotgun and shouting "Where's Dexter Fong?! It's 10:05 PM and my ballot boxes haven't been stuffed yet!"
Elayne: But the heart was steady, well within normal parameters for a short exercise period, so I'm going to start on the bike again.
PrincipalPoop: just hearing about it makes my heart race
||||||||| Dexter Fong sneaks in around 10:05 PM, trying to avoid Catherwood because of last year's "unpleasant incident."
doctecxmas: after partying over xmas and vegging out a couple of days, i have been catching up on things the past 2-3 days
PrincipalPoop: fong returns
Elayne: It's a good week for catch-up, Tom. I've been trying to do that at the office.
doctecxmas: and i guess i should say: taking care of four cats does call for a degree of time commitments
StephenFullerTweeny: Back from distant Dungdong province
doctecxmas: mind you i'm not complaining - they're really fun to hang with
cease: another riff on george putnam
Bambi: I know Elayne ... I have felt your support along the way with my Dad, and I hope you are feeling mine now.
cease: my father's car dealership used to advertise on the putnam show
doctecxmas: and even the sick one has been showing signs of improvement in her demeanor since we took her out of solitary
cease: rightwing "newscaster" in la in those days
cease: the cats, doc?
doctecxmas: (we had to keep her cooped up in a room so we coud give her antibiotics)
StephenFullerTweeny: The human body, and mind, are resilient.
doctecxmas: we took her to a specialist last week, there's a mass in her sinuses - we got some info this week, it's not cancer so that's a good thing
cease: true
StephenFullerTweeny: Wow, Doc. The lady in the bubble, eh?
cease: indeed
Dexter Fong: Where's Klok?
doctecxmas: and even though she's lost significant weight over the summer, she's eating & drinking more since we let her out of solitary
doctecxmas: we'll get the complete prognosis from the vet specialist next week
klokwkdog: Dex - ribbick
Elayne: Is this one of the kittens, Tom?
Dexter Fong: Hiya Kdawg
klokwkdog: hello Dex
klokwkdog: hi DT
cease: going upstairs for dinner. back later
Dexter Fong: Cat: Any idea what we're listening to?
doctecxmas: no, e, it's the oldest of our cats - the skittish one. we had to keep her penned up in a room arranged so she could not crawl into inaccessible corners so we coud administer antibiotics
Elayne: Ah.
PrincipalPoop: it does not get easier, just learn to live with it, or without them rather..
klokwkdog: chek u later Cat
klokwkdog: Dex - rare DF
doctecxmas: we were giving her two pills a day for like 5 weeks, it kept the symptoms at bay but didn't really fix things
Elayne: I've gotten quite expert at "pilling" Datsa twice daily. Rob handles the liquid stuff with the dropper, but I do the finger-down-throat bit...
doctecxmas: enjoy dinner cat
klokwkdog: the 3 DF's not in the usual set of 12 Dear Friends
Dexter Fong: Yhanks Klok
Elayne: Bye Cat!
PrincipalPoop: ciao cat
Dexter Fong: or Thanks
doctecxmas: you're lucky, e - after the first couple of days giving matisse her pills, she'd see up coming and run away from us - made it impossible for us to pill her without quarantining her
Elayne: I think I'll be moseying too. Hey, I actually stayed for an hour today. Maybe my stamina's returning after all. :)
Elayne: Next week, all!
doctecxmas: which of course made her feel helpless and isolated, which thus made her depressed
klokwkdog: good night E
klokwkdog: do get better
Dexter Fong: Elayne, stay well, get better
doctecxmas: she'd see US coming (i meant)
doctecxmas: nit e
StephenFullerTweeny: Bye E, and good health...
klokwkdog: happy new year, E!
||||||||| Elayne runs out the back door as Mayor P'nisnose blasts through the front door holding a shotgun and shouting "Where's Elayne?! It's 10:13 PM and my ballot boxes haven't been stuffed yet!"
||||||||| PrincipalPoop leaves to catch the 10:14 PM train to Pennsylvania.
||||||||| PrincipalPoop sashays in at 10:14 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
doctecxmas: i'm glad she made it here tonight - a good sign indeed!
Bambi: night Elayne!
PrincipalPoop: I got the knocker again, oops
doctecxmas: knocker bleu!
klokwkdog: Tweeny -- there probably _will_ be a chat on the CNI IRC channel if Jim & Bambi do their FST show on new year's eve
PrincipalPoop: she seemed in a good mood
klokwkdog: klokwk firesign???
doctecxmas: i'd consider firing up an irc client, but i'm so paranoid someone'll figure out a way to hack into my pc
doctecxmas: using irc these days is like sending out open invitations to hackers
klokwkdog: turn off DCC?
StephenFullerTweeny: What time, Klok?
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 10:16 PM and Bunnyboy bounds out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
klokwkdog: oh hte usual, Tweeny
Bunnyboy: lo dere
Bambi: PP goeth and cometh quickly around here lol
Dexter Fong: Hi Bunny
StephenFullerTweeny: Yo Bunny...
PrincipalPoop: september 1970, that is another planet
doctecxmas: not convinced simply turning off dcc would do it klok - call me paranoid, but ...
klokwkdog: 7PM for the JL & Bambi show, 10PM for FST (all times Eastern Zip Zone)
Bunnyboy: Oops, just missed El. Shucks.
klokwkdog: DT is paranoid!
Dexter Fong: Paranoid Butt!
PrincipalPoop: hiphop bunny
StephenFullerTweeny: So firewalls aren't enough, eh Klok?
doctecxmas: poop: only 35 years ago, a drop in the bucket in the ong view but a seeming eternity in terms of cultural changes
Bambi: Doctec ... we are on a small private IRC server ... not the big public IRC servers ... and if you turn off DCC ... no worries.
Bambi: Bunny
StephenFullerTweeny: Sorry, I meant Doc...
Bambi: Doctec is rightly paranoid with IRC (on the big IRC servers and DCC enabled)
doctecxmas: bambi: oh, well that's different. it's been a long time since i've fired up any kind of irc client, so i guess i should give it a try
PrincipalPoop: yes cultural changes
klokwkdog: DT - I like the Chatzilla plug-in for Firefox
Bunnyboy: IRC = I Risk Chaos
StephenFullerTweeny: Is Chatzilla vulnerable?
Bambi: we'd welcome seeing you and anyone else who cares to join us on Saturday nights
klokwkdog: probably
klokwkdog: it's not magic, just convenient
doctecxmas: bb: i like that one!
doctecxmas: any sufficiently developed technology is indistinguishable from convenience
PrincipalPoop: I heard the end of your christmas eve show, thanks :) my irc did not find you
Bunnyboy: IRC = Impending Rampant Clones
doctecxmas: (to paraphrase asimov - or was it clarke?)
klokwkdog: any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic
PrincipalPoop: clarke
ah,clem: not on the server we use, Bun
klokwkdog: any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology
Bunnyboy: There's a sucker born every minute.
Dexter Fong pats Clem on the back
Bunnyboy: This way to the Egress.
doctecxmas: i thought that was 'seeker' ... ?
klokwkdog has a fave, though: any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from a rigged demo
klokwkdog: it was Clarke
doctecxmas: klok: lol - yours is much better
StephenFullerTweeny: Stanley, P?
Bunnyboy: If you don't have anything good to say about somebody, sit next to me.
Dexter Fong: No one can see a double-blind test
PrincipalPoop: don't steam me tween
Dexter Fong: Martinize him
klokwkdog: yeah DT; I can spin some yarns on that, like setting a monochrome line scanner to show "color", which dropped some jaws
Bunnyboy: cat's all gray. Wha hoppen?
StephenFullerTweeny: Steamed Principal w/soya... Yum...
PrincipalPoop: use carbon T
Dexter Fong: Bunny: He's away eating dinner
klokwkdog: I ought to MPEG-2 that VHS tape so I have a safe copy
doctecxmas: man, i had the day from hell today - spent almost all my time on the phone - helping out an occasional client with pc woes, helping out my dad with major pc woes, and trying to line things up with hp to come and get my laptop tomorrow so they can fix it and get it back to me - what a freakin' pain in the ass that was
PrincipalPoop: soya montoya?
klokwkdog: reaper's gonna git him
PrincipalPoop: is that kosher?
doctecxmas: i'll send you a dvd so you can make me a copy klok
Bunnyboy: doc: You'd rather be a Ludditte?
PrincipalPoop: pc troubles? how rare and unusual
StephenFullerTweeny: Anybody had to deal with the Sony business?
Bambi: good idea Klok ... MPEG-2 any VHS tape you don't want to lose
klokwkdog: dt - it'll be awhile. a loooong while
StephenFullerTweeny: Or would you rather be a duck?
ah,clem: ...
Dexter Fong: Why a duck?
StephenFullerTweeny: Got to learn more about MPEG. It's up to 4 now, isn't it?
Bambi: that sounds like a real pain doctec! computer woes are always a pain
PrincipalPoop: viaduct?
doctecxmas: article on slashdot today about thehearing loss resulting from over-cranked ipods - too bad the warning fell on deaf ears
StephenFullerTweeny: Don't know the differences.
Bunnyboy: Tween: You mean the Sony BMG crappy rootkit CD business? Yes.
klokwkdog: Bambi - the HDTV card has a line input, for composite video, it just stores as MPEG-2. But then I need to convert to .vob stuff for DVDs. I'll have to look at how much Nero will do for me in Windows
PrincipalPoop: eh doc? what did you say? speak louder please
StephenFullerTweeny: Yeah, Bun. What a gaffe...
klokwkdog: Oh, Bambi -- I was playing the TWiT videos in the new Kaffine, looked good (trying out PCL v0.92)
Bambi: spent the day working on two highly infected computers just today ... and so many days LOL
Bunnyboy: I ran Microsoft's malignant software removal tool for December, last week, and it finally rooted out that rootkit.
klokwkdog: DT - the big hassle is dragging the VCR upstairs and cabling it in
doctecxmas: nothing worse than a hard drive so hosed you have to take it out of the system and connect it to another via usb so you can run a vairus scan/cleanup on it
StephenFullerTweeny: MS malignant software removal... isn't that redundant ;)?
doctecxmas: virus
PrincipalPoop: ouch doc
klokwkdog: Tweeny - LOL
Bambi: there are ways to do that Klok ... maybe even VCD since it wouldn't matter much about DVD quality from a VHS tape ... there are free programs for that, or at least there were
Bunnyboy: Tween: Haw!
doctecxmas: klok: i hear you there. vhs technology seems sooooo archaic these days
Bunnyboy: (sings) Please don't take my XP from meeeeeeee!
Bambi: quite a few folks are enjoying PCLos as well as Mephis etc.
klokwkdog: Bunny - isn't what you did a violation of the DCMA. As in a felony?
cease: im back
PrincipalPoop: I am putting some old old cd backups on an new external hard drive, lots have gone bad :(
cease: thanks to doctec's broadcasting mechanism, i could listen to this upstairs too
StephenFullerTweeny: And he's bootyful...
Bambi: No Fun Doctec! always so annoying
cease: hi bun
klokwkdog: DT -- it's a 2-piece portable VHS HiFi VCR that has dead battery, so I have to bring it up and the docking unit :-(
Dexter Fong: Cat beat the reaper
PrincipalPoop: wb cat
doctecxmas: wouldn't it be interesting if the forthcoming appe intel machines would accommodate multiple operating systems where switching between them is seamless
klokwkdog: DT- I don't mind it's archaic; I mind lugging whatever it is upstairs ;-))
Bunnyboy: klok: No, the rootkit fell-on-me. This was self-defense.
doctecxmas: apple not appe
Bambi: and there have been some malware that I have seen lately a few times that takes out the ability for windows to even see the hard drive...looks like a hard drive failure ... but linux sees the drive fine....weird huh?
doctecxmas: (i hate lili's keyboard - i think its time to replace it)
Bunnyboy: klok: Refresh me on the DCMA. What terms have I stomped on?
klokwkdog: Bunny - if everyone claimed they were afraid of going to jail and insisted that Sony SEND someone to remove it, we'd be rid of them forever...
doctecxmas: klok: that's part of the archaic-ness of it - the fact you have to LUG crap around. everything now is so - compact and light
Bunnyboy: hiya cat!
klokwkdog: Bambi - I think I know people who've had that problem
klokwkdog: DT - don't tell that to my DVD player :-(
doctecxmas: bambi: yeah, malware is getting more and more pernicious and harder to deal with
PrincipalPoop: sally pernicious? I knew her...
Bambi: there is much information all in one place about the Sony Debacle on my blog: http://www.bambismusings.com
PrincipalPoop: she was hard to deal with
Dexter Fong: PP:She hired lawyers
StephenFullerTweeny: Luckily, Macs don't have much of a spyware problem yet. Has it been successfully blocked on the PC/Linux systems?
PrincipalPoop: yes, she had a lot of suits
Bunnyboy: klok: As it is, Sony BMG is offering replacement discs without the kerfutzed copy protection grue, but I think, ultimately, it's wiser to hang on to the junk. Class action looms, and I wouldn't wanna miss the boat.
doctecxmas: ah, thanks for that link. sony really bit the big one when they unleashed those malware cds on the market and they're paying for it dearly now
Bambi: for sure ... I would recommend that anyone who has a Windows computer buy Spy Sweeper and use it as the realtime antispyware. Link to Spy Sweeper on my newsletter site: http://www.jim-fran.com/fcsnl/ ... very much worth every penny.
doctecxmas: bambi: how does spy sweeper stack up against the combined use of spybot s&d and lavasoft's ad-aware se?
Bambi: If you can't swing that .. the next best thing is free ... MS Antispyware (only for WinXP): http://www.microsoft.com/security and click on the MS Antispyware Beta
klokwkdog: Bunny - as I understand DCMA, any attempt to circumvent or even detect the presence of anti-piracy mechanisms is against the law now
PrincipalPoop: santa got me a router for christmas
klokwkdog: Poop - Craftsman?
StephenFullerTweeny: What are you routing, P?
Bambi: not nearly as good as Spy Sweeper but better than many
doctecxmas: excellent, poop. routers should be in everyone
doctecxmas: everyone's collection of utility hardware
PrincipalPoop: I don't see any difference, not faster or slower
||||||||| Merlyn enters at 10:35 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and rushes off to the Hat Pack Annex.
Bambi: much, much better doctec
Merlyn: howdy doody
Bunnyboy: klok: Yeah, and don't listen to those "other" voices on your phone. Your country is WORKING...for YOU! ; )
Dexter Fong: Hi Merlyn
Bunnyboy: hiya Merlyn!
PrincipalPoop kneels before the awesome M
doctecxmas: hey merl
Bambi: if you are using WinXP, you could use Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware along with realtime protection of MS AntiSpyware and be close.
klokwkdog: Bunny - if I had suspicions the Sony crap was on my PC, I'd have Sony come remove it, remove any viruses that it harbored, and PAY me for the CPU time the rootkit uses
Bambi: no one antispyware program can do it all
PrincipalPoop: I turned off active-x, they prompt me, that has stopped a majority of the junk
klokwkdog: according to reports, besides crashing the computer, the Sony rootkit scans the whole system twice a second or something
StephenFullerTweeny: Spying on Quakers, vegetarians & animal rights activists. We're pretty sure they're linked to Al-Queda...
Bunnyboy: klok: I shoulda been documenting alla dat, yah.
doctecxmas: bambi: so true (re spyware) - the conventional wisdom is to use more than one on a pc, to have a fighting chance against them all
Dexter Fong: Is there antispyware to remove the spyware other antispyware programs leave?
Bambi: I use Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, Spy Sweeper, SpywareBlaster, and a HOSTS file replacement ... all those links are on my newsletter site
PrincipalPoop: peace lovers, that is unamerica
klokwkdog: there was a case where some Univ. Sysadmin was running SETI@Home on their computers at nite when idle and the Univ. fired him and sued him for mucho bucks of computer time.
||||||||| Hemlock Stones waltzes in at 10:38 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
Merlyn: Al-Quaqa?
PrincipalPoop: look how much we spend on the military...
StephenFullerTweeny: Mr. Stones!
doctecxmas: dex: lol - that's assuming that antispyware apps put spyware on your pc in the first place. btw did i mention i was PARANOID!?
Dexter Fong: Hey Brian
PrincipalPoop: hello hemlock
Hemlock Stones: Good Evening
doctecxmas: we spend so much on the military, and they never put out for us
Hemlock Stones: i forgot to set the alarm clock
Bunnyboy: Who said doc was paranoid?!?
doctecxmas: bb: i did :)
PrincipalPoop: give us your IP number and password doc and we will scan your PC
klokwkdog: Bunny -- according to studies of DNS server logs, over 3 million PCs are infected by the Sony crap (it phones home whenever you play something)
Merlyn: everyone
Bunnyboy: Was it YOU? It was, wasn't it?
PrincipalPoop: me? now I am paranoid
klokwkdog: Hemlock - what, it's 3AM there?
Hemlock Stones: 03.31
Bambi: I also use Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird as default browser and email client (plain text email only) and use high security on IE on Internet Zone and put Microsoft and any sites that I need to use IE for in the trusted zone. Seems to work pretty well. Also turn off several services that are not needed and vulnerable.
klokwkdog: 3:30AM, I guess
doctecxmas: if i could, i'd shove my pc into a condom - problem with that is, it makes the screen hard to read and you can't type anything
cease: hey bambi and ah, can i get a copy of these from ya?
cease: i'll have a cd in the mail to you tomorrow, first installment from my collection
doctecxmas: wow, hemlock .. ! 3am over the pond, i guess...
cease: before i take the ocmputer into the shop
StephenFullerTweeny: Lol, Doc...
klokwkdog: oops -- everybody, there's a brand new worm out this week! Attacks Windows PCs via a .wmf file attachment
doctecxmas: nice to have you in our little net
Bambi: get a copy of what from me .. what JL is playing?
cease: yep\
Bambi: cool... I am sure we can send a copy of what we are playing on CD to you Cat
cease: just off phone with aunt in calgary, will be joining me in la for the big parental move
doctecxmas: klok: yeah, i heard about that worm - in the short term, only thing you can do us unregister the dll that associated .wmf files to apps
StephenFullerTweeny: U.K.? How's the winter treating you Stones?
ah,clem: np, Cat..
cease: great
Hemlock Stones: I got so used to trojans and worms in windows last year, i now regard it as duck shooting
Bunnyboy: Well, folks, have a glorious jump into 2006. Have a thought for good ol' Dick Clark, and catch ya next week!
PrincipalPoop: burn baby burn
doctecxmas: ms is supposedly working on a fix
klokwkdog: MS currently has NO fix for it. If you run IE, it may try and open it and then you get hosed. Usual defense until they patch -- don't open emails with attaches, run IE security at max
Bambi: yes, and NO fix ... although Firefox will prompt you before opening WMF files and I use a no scripts extension as well as the HOSTS file and some other tricks
doctecxmas: duck shooting indeed! quack.
klokwkdog: yeah, Hemlock, did you get that 4" of snow predicted?
PrincipalPoop: 10-4 bunny
Dexter Fong: Happy New Year Bunny
Hemlock Stones: its been cold here stephen but now the snow is turning to rain
StephenFullerTweeny: Bye Bun...
Merlyn: bye bb
ah,clem: will make a note of that, Cat..
PrincipalPoop: next year bb
doctecxmas: if you unregister the dll associated with .wmf files, it will keep ie or firefox from running the app that lets the worm do its thing
Hemlock Stones: should be back to plain old mud by the weekend
Bambi: can you tell I don't trust Windows? Oh, and don't forget the perimeter firewall and software firewall on the windows box too
klokwkdog: Firefox v1.5 is supposed to be safer, although they're not sure it's a feature or a bug that it doesn't do WMFs
cease: thanks, ahclem
doctecxmas: i have notes about it upstairs, hang on... logging off momentarily.
||||||||| "10:43 PM? I'm late!" exclaims doctecxmas, who then runs out through the french doors and down through the flowerbeds.
StephenFullerTweeny: Is Blair in as deep caca as Bush?
ah,clem: you have the series, Cat? yes/no
PrincipalPoop: doc went to get a cheese log
klokwkdog: DT, Hemlock -- Nic Harcourt will be doing MBE from BBC Radio 1 studios next week; ought to be interesting
cease: the 12 discs? of course
||||||||| "Hey Bunnyboy!" ... Bunnyboy turns, and sees Bradshaw approching with the handcuffs, and is dragged away, screaming "it's only 10:44 PM, I don't have to go yet!"...
ah,clem: the rest of..
cease: i should have taped the bbc show.
ah,clem: ok
Bambi: unfortunately the single dll is not the only problem with this vulnerability.
ah,clem: will see you get them
klokwkdog: it was pretty funny, cat, but mostly significant as a live performance
cease: bbc?
cease: i heard it but didnt tape
||||||||| doctecxmas waltzes in at 10:45 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
Bambi: night Bunny
cease: i loved the brit refs
PrincipalPoop: wb doc
Bambi: wb doctech
PrincipalPoop: you have got my knocker, drop it
doctecxmas: ok, here's links to exploit info
cease: there is an odd bit of brit history to the firesigns
klokwkdog: yeah, that was good, Cat. I got the link in the chat and got to hear it before the BBC archive went away
doctecxmas: the first one is from 11/7/05 ... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=E38372B2-3BF6-4393-B9A4-F34248C8073E&displaylang=en
cease: in that bergman first imagined maknig a 4-man group, a beatles of comedy when he was in england
StephenFullerTweeny: So the show isn't archived anywhere? Couldn't find it on BBC. Maybe they can put up on this site?
Hemlock Stones: i have a copy of the London gig if anyone didnt catch it
doctecxmas: the latest one is from yesterday - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/advisory/912840.mspx
klokwkdog: Tweeny -- per usual, they took it down after 7 days
doctecxmas: to disable the dll that the exploit uses to deliver the worm, bring up command prompt and run:
StephenFullerTweeny: Can you send it broadband, Stones? Would that be copesetic with FST?
doctecxmas: regsvr32 -u (your windows dir)\system32\shimgvw.dll
klokwkdog: There ya go, Tweeny -- hemlock to the rescue
doctecxmas: when ms gets a fix out, you can re-register the dll with:
doctecxmas: regsvr32 (your windows dir)\system32\shimgvw.dll
Merlyn: someone said they posted the MP3 to an audio comedy newsgroup, I saw bits but I haven't put it together yet
Bambi: yeah, read those doctec...but also read secunia.com, CERT.org, bugtrack, securityfocus BID, as well. MS not telling all.
klokwkdog is just not going to use IE, like always
klokwkdog: yeah, and F-Secure has a few things to say, too
Hemlock Stones: if you email me at xxxxxxxxxxxx@aol.com we can arrange things
Bambi: and not the same as the one from November 2005 that they claimed to have fixed
PrincipalPoop: aol.com, ahhh you are in europe, nevermind...
doctecxmas: bambi: i suspect ms doesn't *know* all yet - lots of folks out for the holidays, probably has slowed their responsiveness
StephenFullerTweeny: BTW, in case you don't have a copy of Paul Krassner's 2002 "Irony Lives" in your collection, get it. I got mine from Laugh.com.
Dexter Fong: Merlyn: I think Earl Truss said he posted it to Alt.Binary whatever
doctecxmas: but from everything i've read, the problem lies with an overflow condition evoked by a tampered-with .wmf that shimgvw.dll tries to disply in IE or the windows grahpics & fax viewer
PrincipalPoop: I found tv or not tv some time ago in the alt.binaries, ahhh funny loool
Bambi: we can give them the benefit of a doubt due to holiday but other reputable security companies have identified other issues not mentioned.
klokwkdog: remember dial phones?
doctecxmas: i saw a krassner post on the huffpo site this week
StephenFullerTweeny: BTW, in case you don't have a copy of Paul Krassner's 2002 "Irony Lives" in your collection, get it. I got mine from Laugh.com.
Bambi: also wildersecurity has some interesting info on the downloader trojan it drops when it is opened by the windows image/fax viewer
doctecxmas: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/paul-krassner/fear-and-laughing-in-las-_b_12880.html
doctecxmas: bambi: good to know
doctecxmas: it's a nasty trojan indeed
Dexter Fong: afk for refill
doctecxmas: heck, i remember beepers!
Bambi: yes
klokwkdog: DT - the linux link tech show this week opened with a half-hour of the guys telling someone who wrote in how good Windows was and how wonderful it was to use.
klokwkdog: I had tears running down my face the whole time; it was ROFL
cease: yes krassner is great
doctecxmas: klok: well, everything is relative. relative to (say) mac osx, windows sux! relative to earlier versions of windows, it's - well, an improvement at best.
cease: a ciagarette-lol
Bambi: Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie had it right ... Every OS sucks lol
klokwkdog: yeah, I've noticed that WinXP can stay up for a day, maybe two or three before it locks up. Win98 could barely manage a day
Bambi: it is just a matter of timing and degrees
Dexter Fong: brack
StephenFullerTweeny: It's the only album of his I have. Just happened to hear him on one of the comedy netcasts. I'd heard the name before, but didn't know who he was. Pretty good web site.
klokwkdog: wb Dex
cease: telus security never solved my problem. told me to install something called east tek eraser 2006 but it stops just like the virus scan
Hemlock Stones: with win98 i used to run system file checker every couple of weeks to keep it running
Bambi: but Linux and Macs have less worries for quite some time now than Windows
doctecxmas: bambi: it SOOOOOOO true
PrincipalPoop: do not drink brackish water
StephenFullerTweeny: The Trolls can be really funny. "An Opinion on Abortion" is one of my favorites.
doctecxmas: all operating systems suck - some suck less than others but they all definitely suck.
cease: doc willl EVENTUALLY get my adbusters interview up on my seemreal.com site
Bambi: a day? XP? really ... that's not very good ...
cease: i met him in la in 95. it was like meeting dorian gray
klokwkdog: no, that's 98, Bambi
klokwkdog: XP can stay up 2, 3 days in a row
cease: all his pix, incliidng the one he wanted me to use fo rthe mag, portray him as a young guy.
Hemlock Stones: my xp is propped up with a stick
cease: in real life, he's really old
StephenFullerTweeny: His web site has a picture of him in a Yippie t-shirt.
klokwkdog: didn't realize he was so old, Cat
Bambi: System Up Time: 6 Days, 8 Hours, 29 Minutes, 39 Seconds
doctecxmas: for a good laugh, watch the movie "hackers"
cease: well, ot compared to dex, but to us youngens
PrincipalPoop: xp reminds me of dungeons and dragons, it needs mor ch or mp
Bambi: and that's only because I had an update that required a reboot in XP Pro
Bambi: ah, OK
cease: he was born in 1932.
Dexter Fong: Cat: Phhhhhhhhhtttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!
cease: he looks like he was born in 1832
doctecxmas: hollywood's idea of gen-x rejects who all happen to be geniuses and subversive and yet are ultimately depicted as the good guys
klokwkdog: fight! fight! ;-)
PrincipalPoop: sprung a leak fong?
cease: no, i have a 73 year old firend in tokyo who looks younger than me
StephenFullerTweeny: Kinda like Slick. Someone asked her if she would do live concerts again. Sure, if you want to hear a 60-something singing "up against the wall MF" ;)
doctecxmas: it came out in 1995 i think - an eon in internet time
cease: we had lunch with the berkeleys and some of fumiyos friends how are in their 80s. but they seemed younger than me
Bambi: most hackers are good guys ... we just hear about the ones who are not.
PrincipalPoop: ahh win95, those were the days
doctecxmas: actually i'd think an 'unplugged' j.a. concert could work well
cease: of course, being in severe pain from twisted back didnt make me any younger
Bambi: I did see that movie and enjoyed it doctec :-)
Dexter Fong: Doc: YOu mean they'd unplug they're iron lungs and pacemakers?
doctecxmas: what do you do about that kind of back pain when it happens, cat?
cease: and gals too, bambi, i'm sure
cease: swallow copious quantities of robacyacet or whatever it's called. seems to work
Bambi: LOL ... yes, and gals too
cease: also booze.
doctecxmas: bambi: it was on cable the other day, caught a chunk of it - it's certainly the hollywood vision of the "alt.culture du jour"
doctecxmas: dex: lol
cease: i had 2 glases of wine with lunch. i havnt done that since we were in seattle, doc
StephenFullerTweeny: Lost Gals?
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 11 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Bambi: yes, mass media is doing their best to continue the demonizing of hackers, aka tinkers
klokwkdog: I love movies from a decade ago, when someone whips out a cell phone the size of a GI walkie-talkie and it's supposed to make them look cool...
doctecxmas: i've put away about two bottles of vodka in seven days (750ml, and not cheap rotgut) - is that a lot?
Bambi: Catherwood .. you are only 8:30 off tonight ;-)
||||||||| Catherwood walks right past Bambi
Dexter Fong: Doc Not really =))
klokwkdog: yikes, DT!
cease: i dont drink anyting stronger than wine and 2 bottles of wine isnt much
klokwkdog: I hope you put them away somewhere where you won't be tempted to drink 'em...
cease: lol klok
Bambi: LOL don't think C a t h e r w o o d was happy with my 8 and a half minute off assessment
cease: this sounds a lot like other stuff of dear freinds
Dexter Fong: Snap to it Catherwood
||||||||| Catherwood pretends not to hear Dexter Fong
doctecxmas: 1.5 litres / 7 days = approx. 200ml a day - that's equivalent to four of those "nip" bottles i guess
cease: i guess they were rehersing this church music thing
klokwkdog: Catherwood's incapable of keeping the correct time
||||||||| Catherwood says "It's exactly 11:03 PM!"
Dexter Fong: Japanese Vodka?
cease: the tiny nipponese make gigantic bottles
doctecxmas: and i still manage to keep my typos to a munimin
Bambi: Catherwood please pour me a Toasted Almond
||||||||| Catherwood hands Bambi a toasted almond.
Bambi: thank you Catherwood
||||||||| Catherwood answers "Just doing my job!"
Dexter Fong: Gigantic Bottles was in Macy's thanksgiving Day parade
PrincipalPoop: lool
klokwkdog: DT - oh. I thought it was "2" days, not 7
klokwkdog: Guess I need a beer
StephenFullerTweeny: Made with the finest Chinese benzine...
cease: pretty soon she'd drink anything
klokwkdog: isn't that river decontaminated yet??
doctecxmas: dex: no, one bottle was zyr (about the cleanest vodka on the market) and the other was a gift - "tito's" - it's made "by hand in small batches" by a guy out of texas. it's been getting good notices in the press.
Dexter Fong: Pretty soon she's drink with anyone
Bambi: lol ... that was a new one Merlyn :-)
cease: is merl here?
doctecxmas: ben zine, drunken publisher
Dexter Fong: Duck of Earl
Merlyn: more or less
doctecxmas: faintly, cat
klokwkdog: behind the scenery, Cat; he's behind the scenery
StephenFullerTweeny: Give it michelle, she'll drink anything...
doctecxmas: but - he's coming around!
Dexter Fong: Open the curtain fred
klokwkdog: hey, speaking of chewing up scenery, where's IIanwydd lately??
PrincipalPoop: gosh it is still warm
Bambi: ah, Merlyn's no longer fading
StephenFullerTweeny: And it's time to play, beat the thresher!
doctecxmas: klok: if i were putting away a 750ml bottle of vodka a day, i'd probably be incapable of firing up a browser and chatting with fellow firesonians
Dexter Fong: His webtv went down and apparerently hasn't gotten up yet
PrincipalPoop: he is being scrooge
Merlyn: a couple weeks ago llan sent me email saying how he'll be cut off a few weeks
cease: he's probably on stage as we type
klokwkdog: really, Dex?
cease: i'll be in la next thrus, but may be able to chat
PrincipalPoop: oops :( good luck llan
Bambi: yes, those goat clusters are always still warm ;-)
Dexter Fong: Klok: I believe so
doctecxmas: i polished off the tito's just now, there's about 1/4 to 1/5 of the zyr remaining
Bambi: new WebTV worm?
cease: supposed to start moving my parents into nursing home that day
klokwkdog: cat -- I hope your visit isn't too stressful
cease: i'd rather do this though
PrincipalPoop: ahh fun for the whole family cat
Dexter Fong: Webtv has spiders, not worms
doctecxmas: (the way i'm feeling though, it may be gome before i pack it in tonight)
cease: oh it will be, klok
Bambi: hope you can chat while you are in LA Cat ... we'd really miss you if you can't
cease: just off phone with mother's younger sister who will be flying in on the 6th
cease: i have been able to when i was in la previously. depends on whats happening at chat time
doctecxmas: bambi: well if cat is too maxed out by all the crap he's going to have to deal with in el lay, all of us will just have to pick up the slack until his return to vancouver
cease: they've lived in that house for 40 years. it will be a shock to them to leave it
StephenFullerTweeny: I cannot sign the papers... You have broken both of my hands....
klokwkdog: I can imagine, Cat
Dexter Fong: I gotta pick up my slacks at the cleaners
Bambi says well, we can always hope Cat :-)
cease: yes doc, i'm sure you'll all do just fine
doctecxmas: i'll make it a point to be here - i know this year i have let too many chat sessions slide by
StephenFullerTweeny: Gotta pick up my slackers...
Bambi: sounds like a plan doctec :-)
cease: youve been doing lili a world of good.
PrincipalPoop: give me some quips to write in case you cannot make it
doctecxmas: new year's resolution: make it to chat more often!
klokwkdog: That's right, DT, and we're nursing a real grudge about it
Dexter Fong: Doc: You too have had much to deal with
Bambi: all our best to you Cat in dealing with a hard thing like that.
doctecxmas: cat: that's for sure - many thursdays this year were taken up doing things for her, helping out in any way i could
PrincipalPoop: yes, you know our thoughts will be with you cat
cease: thanks bambi
Dexter Fong: Looks like Hemlock is fading over the horizon
klokwkdog: Lili was a given, but playing pool??? ;-))
cease: knowing all of you are here in the background gives me a lot of help
Dexter Fong: Chalk up one for Klok
Hemlock Stones: (drinks another Blue Moss and feels better)
doctecxmas: ...something i don't regret, by the way - she has no family here, she'd have had to deal with her situation by herself a lot of the time
Bambi: quite understandable doctec ... but glad things have settled down and you can be with us again.
doctecxmas: brb
PrincipalPoop: like going to the well for a drink of refreshing cool water, watttter cooool water
klokwkdog: Cat -- nothing makes up for it when you're there in the real world. This is all an imaginary one. Good vibes don't do well against cold LA reality, but we'll do our best.
StephenFullerTweeny: Sons of the Pioneers?
StephenFullerTweeny: Hope NASA didn't program their trajectory ;)
PrincipalPoop: and daughters too, chauvanist
Dexter Fong: Hoss and Little Joe?
klokwkdog: what did the Pioneers sing?
PrincipalPoop: no, the other one
StephenFullerTweeny: Shoot that Indian!
Dexter Fong: Ten little nine little eight little indians
StephenFullerTweeny: And many other favorites.
klokwkdog: afk
cease: this isnt firesign
Bambi: any album, CD or DVD you feed the Pioneer
StephenFullerTweeny: That Indian's good and dead.
cease: is the firesign over?
cease: oh no this is firesign
PrincipalPoop: feed the pioneer and starve a pilgim
Bambi: and then there were none.
cease: i forgot how good proc's aussie accent was
Dexter Fong: Good ear Cat
StephenFullerTweeny: I've got a 1970's Pioneer amp that I still keep around because of the great switiching matrix.
cease: i'm sending jimmy and bambi clark wintergreen,
cease: proc plays an aussie character
cease: a spaniar d in the works, the lenon book?
StephenFullerTweeny: Are there any recordings of Proctor in NZ?
Dexter Fong: Cat: I saw them do that live at the Bottom Line
cease: really?
cease: was it good?
Bambi: cool :-) so looking forward to getting them Cat
cease: the album kinda sucked
PrincipalPoop: big brother is washing you
StephenFullerTweeny: NYC?
Dexter Fong: Well, considering my condition..it seemed pretty good =))
Dexter Fong: Yeah Tweeny
Bambi: FST that sucked? not possible she says astonished!
cease: for some reqson tha allan handelman show doesnt play on my computer but does on my stereo.
Bambi smiles
StephenFullerTweeny: No flies on frank...
cease: so i'll dat it off the stereo but not for this cd
Dexter Fong: Bambi: It's Procter and Bergman..not quite Firesign
cease: i have the margartiavillel show for you bambi but you may get a copy of in the firezone from doc, the creator of it
PrincipalPoop: I was not nuts
StephenFullerTweeny: I'm still amazed at Roller Maidens. PA's pretty darned versatile...
cease: i just contrubted by dat recorder
cease: doc asembled it
cease: all of them are, tween
Bambi: ah, ok .. maybe that 'splains it'
Dexter Fong: I consider FireZone to be one of the best live shows I've heard
Bambi: great .. thanks Cat
cease: you could get first generation from doc tech, only a ocpy from me
StephenFullerTweeny: Indeed, cat. To get them back in a XM setting again...
cease: they have to be given much money
Hemlock Stones: I think they all have talent and will get better with practice
Dexter Fong: Hey Cat: CD is perfect sound forever...isn't it?
cease: it was great the 3 of them could go to london and do that bbc thing
||||||||| A time machine materializes at 11:19 PM and Bubba bounds out, carrying a grape from ancient Greece.
Hemlock Stones: CD is good till scratched
Bambi: since we would likely want to air them ... a first generation would be great where possible, but not necessary of course.
cease: did doc leave? im the worst person to ask, dex
PrincipalPoop: hello bubba
Dexter Fong: Hiya BubbA
StephenFullerTweeny: Hoosierman!
cease: bub
Hemlock Stones: hi there
Bambi: hi Bubba
Dexter Fong: cAT: wAS BEING SNARKY
cease: ths sounds a lot like an hour hour they did, the trial of citizen X
Bubba: hello everyone
Dexter Fong: And Capitalistic
Bambi: doc said brb
PrincipalPoop: snarky? wrong chatroom
cease: hey bub, is lodestone sellig In the Firezone?
StephenFullerTweeny: I went snarkeling in Cancun.
Bubba: say what?
Dexter Fong: If it is, I'll stop caopying it for people
Dexter Fong: Bubba: FST Live in Seattle, 1999
PrincipalPoop: how many cans would a can can if a can could cun cans?
Hemlock Stones: I hunted some snark but they are very slippery
StephenFullerTweeny: Hey Bubba, how about selling some eyeball hat caps?
PrincipalPoop: or hatball eye caps
StephenFullerTweeny: Celeberty Headball
Bambi: we are thankful for all the firesign that folks have so graciously provided so we can keep 'a few minutes with Firesign Theatre' unique and fun to help the Lads out :-)
Merlyn: lodestone has RadioNow Live, which is the Portland show I think, not the same performances as "in the firezone"
Bubba: i didn't take the midterm, now you guys want me to take the final, i need to study
StephenFullerTweeny: And thanks to you & JL, Bambi...
PrincipalPoop: detention for bubba, he will be a detainee, ouch
doctecxmas: back
Bambi: thanks Tweeny :-)
Bubba: i hate when that happens
PrincipalPoop: wb doc
Hemlock Stones: WB
doctecxmas: that was dad on the phone - he finally gave up on trying to get his new hp printer installed
StephenFullerTweeny: I'd love to know what vocal processing JL is using...
Bambi: wb doctec
PrincipalPoop: ahh yes I enjoyed it immensely
doctecxmas: i tried helping out earlier today but it was no use - the install kept asking for locations of files it said it needed from windows to install
Bubba: that was fun
cease: how is your dad, doc?
PrincipalPoop: read the directions, you must not or you must install the driver first before it is connected or connect first,
Dexter Fong: How's your mom, Ed?
Bambi says only Clem/JL can answer that one :-)
doctecxmas: he said he spoke w/tech support, apparently this is a known problem - but they had him print out a 26-step procedure he'd need to follow in order to get the printer drivers installed and he said (quite justifiably) "fuck this!"
doctecxmas: dad's doing pretty damn well for a guy who'll be turning 80 next year
doctecxmas: even though he's overweight, he's got a lot of energy and he definitely has all his marbles
cease: i had lunch with a couple of fumiyo's 80 something frineds today. sharp as a tack
PrincipalPoop: only 26 steps, sounds like plug and play to me
cease: made me feel like the only old person at the table
Hemlock Stones: you should try getting a router to work with AOL, thats not funny either
cease: restaurant review coming up in my blog
Bambi: what printer is it doctec? did he turn off his software firewall during the installation and disable his AV? those things are absolutely needed during the install
Merlyn: I thought you could just attach it to a hand drill
doctecxmas: he's gonna take the printer back to circuit city tomorrow & get something else - he needs one of those print/copy/scan units
doctecxmas: hemlock: ooh, getting ANYTHING to work with aol is a major pain from what i'm led to understand
Bambi: no, Hemlock Stones it isn't ... especially a wireless router LOL
Hemlock Stones: yes even AOL has problems getting AOL to run
doctecxmas: bambi: yeah, he did all those things. it was an hp photosmart all-in-one printer
Merlyn: They're changing their name to LOL
Bambi: well, you have not been led wrong about AOL doctec
StephenFullerTweeny: The recent show in England. Stones says he has it available for download.
klokwkdog: hemlock - neighbors have AOL, run thru my router sometimes. AOL keeps asking them for the administrator password to my router so it can be "set up to serve them better". Yeah, sure.
Dexter Fong: Well, I gotta park the car..with luck I'll be back before the end..if not happy New Years to you all and see you next week
Bambi: does he have all his Windows Updates?
klokwkdog: happy parking, Dex
PrincipalPoop: I thought they changed to SOL
PrincipalPoop: hail rita fong
Bubba: happy new year to you too, dex
cease: yes tweeny, i'll want that.
cease: e said he put it up on alt.binaries?
doctecxmas: the install kept asking for the location of a bunch of windows sys and ini files - i found most in the i386 dir of the win xp install disk but one, usbprint.sys, was not there - i got him one i found on a drivers web site but when he gave it to the install pgm, it halted with an error to the effect that the usbprint.sys file was not the right onw
doctecxmas: one
cease: i have never listened to anything there but apparently a great deal of firestuff
StephenFullerTweeny: Grid I'm glad I use Mac.
PrincipalPoop: HP has its own system files directory
doctecxmas: so i pointed him to hp tech support so they could take it from there - they were not much help
Bambi: haven't had any problems with HP photosmart printers with latest MS Windows Updates and disabling firewall and AV before installing. Except ONCE! And that was a real pain ... too many HP USB printers ... two different ones and they had to be installed in a certain order ... real pain!
cease: this is the brickbreaker
cease: austin practricing his crazy guy
StephenFullerTweeny: Is the sys.edit file set to recognise the IRQ?
PrincipalPoop: ahhh super bambi, what fun
Bambi: ah, that's usually in a directory on the CD from HP too
doctecxmas: apparently the install program that comes with this particular all-in-one printer is known to be fubar, and yet that doesn't keep them from selling the damn things
StephenFullerTweeny: It's Super Bambi!
Bambi: they have an updated driver install from HP for that one too if I remember correctly
Bambi: I had to go get that one one time manually instead of letting it try to get it on its own during the installation
PrincipalPoop: HP used the reverse polish for entering math equations on their old handhelds, they have a tradition to uphold
Hemlock Stones: Bambi, i think sometimes the windows updates are steps backward
Bambi: LOL PrincipalP
Bambi: really a pain .. it's particularly bad if you are not on XP with those Photosmart printers
doctecxmas: the real problem is that companies like hp are so squeezed margin-wise that management holds guns to developers' heads, telling them "we have to get the product out the door" - so it goes out the door with install programs not fully tested for all configurations and scenarios
Bambi: yes, but those two steps forward and one step back necessary for security and for some driver issues too
Hemlock Stones: Windows sneaks out of a window to ensure its not tested
doctecxmas: ok, so other than hp, can someone recommend an all-in-one printer/copier/scanner for my dad?
StephenFullerTweeny: Desert Rose Band?
StephenFullerTweeny: Chris Hillman of Manassas?
Bambi: yes, and they are beginning to install adware too with driver installations ... sound, cameras, printers, etc. very very annoying
PrincipalPoop: you can google as easy as I can, I never do any of those things
StephenFullerTweeny: One step forward and too steppes back...
doctecxmas: earl the pearl
PrincipalPoop: earl?
Bambi: some even install backweb lite ... very annoying and a known hole
doctecxmas: bambi: that's as bad as having to sit through ads before seeing feature films at theaters these days
Bambi: Try the Canon ones doctec
klokwkdog: yeah, Bambi. what really hosed me off was the Quicktime 7 installing iTunes with no opt-out possible
StephenFullerTweeny: On the other hand, you can buy a PC system for 1/2 the price of a comparable Mac system.
PrincipalPoop: eh klok? ouch
Hemlock Stones: Ad Aware and Spybot will get rid of most of that crap wont they ?
doctecxmas: klok: yeah, apple has married itunes and quicktime now - i'm not very happy about that either
Bambi: yep ... very annoying Klok
klokwkdog: DT - that's right; even worse is that the audio is turned up to 7000 dB
doctecxmas: 7038db to be exact
klokwkdog: Tweeny -- yeah, and you spend that savings playing System Administrator to it
StephenFullerTweeny: The Mac Mini was a pretty good idea, though. Use all your PC peripherals.
doctecxmas: but who's still got the hearing to make sense of it?
cease: i wonder where the dr. memeory riff comes from?
doctecxmas: klok: are you saying that with linux you *don't* have to play sys admin to your system?
cease: his is at leastr the 3rd iteration i've heard from pre bozos
doctecxmas: i'm just askin' ...
Bambi: doctec ... did you see the 'try the Canon all in ones' ?
cease: methedrine again
klokwkdog: no, everyone knows that you have to carry a little extra load in Linux
doctecxmas: bambi: no i haven't - but dad is already leaning towards getting a canon as a replacement
klokwkdog: but you don't have to do so on the Mac
klokwkdog: which was the comparison on the table... ;-)
Merlyn: drop an extra load on the Linux toad
doctecxmas: klok: it was something of a rhetorical question...
klokwkdog: yeah
Bambi: you do have to turn off services, use a firewall, run as a normal user, and keep up on updates...but the vulnerabilities with Linux are not as plentiful as with Windows by a long shot for normal users.
doctecxmas: and yeah, osc is probably the least fussy os to deal with - i think the fact that apple controls the hardware along with the software helps that a bit
StephenFullerTweeny: Considering how much I like Apple's version of UNIX, I'd really like to try Linux sometime.
doctecxmas: osx not osc
Bubba: i still think you need to do a bob and ray show , fst borrowed liberaly from them
PrincipalPoop: a rhetorical question or fake torical question?
cease: you think so, bub?
doctecxmas: factorial question!
PrincipalPoop: is that a fact?
Bambi: Linux is approaching Mac for beauty of the GUI although not quite there yet
doctecxmas: facts are simple and facts are straight - facts are lazy and facts are late
klokwkdog: Tweeny -- there are fewer releases of Linux for the Mac, and I'm not sure any of them are try-out-able from CD like many for x86 PCs are now.
PrincipalPoop: ahhh dr memory
doctecxmas: facts all come with points of view - facts don't do what i want them to
StephenFullerTweeny: Linux is really hot in Asia, from what I hear. Some governments are using it instead of MS.
PrincipalPoop: liars figure and figures lie
klokwkdog: it's interesting to hear how these characters developed, but the mainstream albums certainly brought all these constructions to a very fine and professional polish
Bambi: Tweeny ... no effects on Clem's mic ... sorry ... Clem told me and didn't see it earlier.
klokwkdog: Tweeny - many governments are threatening to use is as a way to blackmail MS
doctecxmas: steve: that's 'cause linux is (relatively) free - and they're not afraid to roll up their sleeves and tinker with it
PrincipalPoop: your microphone is not working jimmy-lee, I do not hear you asking if it works
doctecxmas: they're not like the typical american pc user, who for the most part expects to only have to push a button and click the mouse a couple of times without knowing much of anything to get their pc to do something useful
cease: that sounds like me and i'm not even an american
PrincipalPoop: same with driving a car doc, the model A had a spark advance lever where the current turn signal lever is
doctecxmas: maybe i should say "north american" :)
Bambi: yes, Linux users are either simple web and email users, or tinkerers :-) But that is changing as more and more hardware is supported.
StephenFullerTweeny: Thought there was a productivity suite, like Office...
Hemlock Stones: Cats do that Clem
Bambi: Open Office
doctecxmas: well gang, i am fading fast and have a bunch of things i have to take care of tomorrow - i'm gonna bid you all adieu.
doctecxmas: and see you all in 2006!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PrincipalPoop: yah, blame it on root, you left it under sofa ahhh, clem, poor root
StephenFullerTweeny: Yeah, Open Office...
klokwkdog: nite DT, happy new year! same to lili...
StephenFullerTweeny: Bye Doc...
Hemlock Stones: ok all the best Doc
Merlyn: bye doc
PrincipalPoop: skal for the vodka doc, relax and happy new year
Bambi: the newest version apparently works very well ... but you need a pretty hefty computer (at least that's what I have heard)
doctecxmas: thanks all
Merlyn: I'm going to be going 2
Merlyn: cya
klokwkdog: Tweeny -- yep, Open Office covers just about all that MS Office does
cease: doc, merl
doctecxmas: and i'll pass all your good wishes along to lili, with whom i've been in regular phone contact
Bambi: night doctec ... our best to you and Lili!
klokwkdog: it's free, and you can give it away to friends
PrincipalPoop: HNY M
Bambi: thanks for everything Merlyn!
cease: austin does a great preacher shout voice
klokwkdog: you can also run it in Windows. Not sure if you can run it on the Mac under OS 9 or X, but maybe...
doctecxmas: have a happy & safe new years' celebration & see y'all at the funway - hope ya tie one on!
Hemlock Stones: has anyone used an online program called Writely ?
PrincipalPoop: if she finds my heart, she can keep it, she would have to find all the pieces
klokwkdog: Hemlock - I looked at it
doctecxmas: nytol (hic) .... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Merlyn: nite
||||||||| doctecxmas is kicked out just as the clock strikes 11:49 PM.
||||||||| Merlyn runs out the back door as Mayor P'nisnose blasts through the front door holding a shotgun and shouting "Where's Merlyn?! It's 11:49 PM and my ballot boxes haven't been stuffed yet!"
klokwkdog: It's supposed to be really nice. I just don't compose much formal text
Hemlock Stones: its still a bit basic but for collaborations its not bad
Bambi: we will be having our show on Saturday for New Year's Eve on CNI Radio
klokwkdog: Yeah, I've also got a ProtoPage up; that looks nice for collabs, too.
cease: wow austin and nurgie together
||||||||| It's 11:50 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Bubba - dead from jaundice
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
klokwkdog: Backpack (from 37 Signals) is supposed to be helpful for people on 6 continents trying to get stuff done
Bambi: would love to have a Linux version of Macromedia/Adobe Dreamweaver etc. available
StephenFullerTweeny: I've been raising codpieces in my toilet for years.
PrincipalPoop: what do you use to raise them with?
klokwkdog: Tweeny - I quit and switched to the washer; holds more of them
klokwkdog: Bambi - that would be nice
StephenFullerTweeny: Washerton D.C. Where schnook is raised properly.
PrincipalPoop: washerton ac or dc? I want to be current
cease: are tehy still washing dc?
klokwkdog: you can't tell 'em apart, Poop
Bambi: direct or alternating?
StephenFullerTweeny: Have you Heard the latest from the Childe Haorld?
klokwkdog: Cat -- it won't be here much longer; they are cleaning it
StephenFullerTweeny: What about the elevator boy?
klokwkdog: Tweeny -- I think he's hanging out with George Gordon now...
PrincipalPoop: digital or a cheese log?
Hemlock Stones: They are cleaning over here too and then decorating !
StephenFullerTweeny: Ah, he is in your family....
StephenFullerTweeny: Put a lid on it, Klok ;)
klokwkdog: in DC? It's probably a sleaze log
PrincipalPoop: delay and abramhoff, coming soon to a federal prison near you
cease: listening to this you can see the evoluitkon of the dear friends material
klokwkdog: Jack in the Box!
PrincipalPoop: it is fantastic
cease: ths was the stuff they Threw Out before the real shows
klokwkdog: (new suggested name for Abramhoff's restaurant)
PrincipalPoop: yes, and dr pepper comes in a bottle
StephenFullerTweeny: Fast Frueud!
Bambi: Charlie in the Box
cease: but this is a box of shit
PrincipalPoop: it is really good shit
StephenFullerTweeny: Only the finest mackeral...
Hemlock Stones: but its really great shit
cease: if only we had uastin here to tell us about these
Hemlock Stones: lol
StephenFullerTweeny: Oh it's just a box of shit, I don't know who put it there...
Bambi: lol
PrincipalPoop: what day will the new years eve show be on?
klokwkdog: go to www.cniradio.com for schedule details for the NY's eve show. On Saturday
cease: is that a chat thing?
PrincipalPoop: ahhh on new years eve, good idea
klokwkdog: for Hemlock, the time is going to be 00:00 AM on Sunday for the JL and Bambi show (7PM Eastern US time)
Bambi: thanks Klok :-) ... yes, just look at Saturday's JimmyLee and Bambi Show for time etc.
ah,clem: thought it was a bag of shit, or did I miss something?
StephenFullerTweeny: It's a swamp thing...
klokwkdog: and the FST segment generally starts at 10PM (0300 GMT/UT)
PrincipalPoop: nothing but a thing
Bambi: yes, New Year's Eve is a good time to have a New Year's Eve special to be sure ;-)
klokwkdog: Hemlock - the chat is DIFFERENT and is on IRC at equnet.org, room #cni
klokwkdog: details on the abovementioned CNI radio page
Hemlock Stones: is Dexter still with us
Hemlock Stones: ok ty for that Klok
PrincipalPoop: all about eve
klokwkdog: there is a "different crowd" in that chat room, since there is a wider audience for CNI radio ;-))
PrincipalPoop: he is parking his car
cease: hes in the parking lot of the soul
Bambi: this year worked out great for our show ... both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve were on Saturday
||||||||| Catherwood walks in wearing his pyjamas, yawns, and mumbles "It's midnight here in New York city"...then he falls over and starts snoring loudly..
PrincipalPoop: how did you arrange that bambi?
Bambi: the info on chatting is on the chat with us page on cniradio.com if you need to refresh
Hemlock Stones: well if Dexter shows, please tell him there is something in his mail box and its not from the IRS
klokwkdog: Hemlock -- New York City makes you move your car to separate the static vehicles from those people actually use, so Ash is out rotating it to the other side of the street
StephenFullerTweeny: Saturday in the park, wasn't that the 4th of July?
PrincipalPoop: I think so tween
klokwkdog: Hemlock -- it's still not as bad as Red Ken, but getting there...
Bambi: Catherwood! you are in your PJs? Bambi is shocked!
||||||||| Catherwood ignores Bambi
klokwkdog: Tweeny -- with Bernadette
Bambi: I don't know PrincipalP ... I think someone else arranged that for us LOL
PrincipalPoop: peters?
Bambi: lol
StephenFullerTweeny: The Devlin's in the details...
PrincipalPoop: ahhh the calender god
klokwkdog: Poop - no, Steve Martin's ex-girlfriend
StephenFullerTweeny: You think that's funny?
PrincipalPoop: ahhh the chef bernadette cheese omelet
Dexter Fong: Brack
cease: there was some triibutre to american humouristes on pbs recently and it was steve martin.
StephenFullerTweeny: So I shot her... With a shot gun....
cease: he just doesnt have the body of work to rate that kind of honour.
cease: pryor yes, martin no
PrincipalPoop: welcome brack
PrincipalPoop: I saw that cat
cease: firesign uber alles
klokwkdog: cat -- we've exported all our humour to Canadian contractors
Dexter Fong: Hem: Something in my mailbox from the IRS?
PrincipalPoop: IRA fong
Hemlock Stones: yes Dexter
Hemlock Stones: ol
cease: king tut and some ofh is old snl stuff was really funny, but it didnt alter the profession
StephenFullerTweeny: If you love something, let it go. If it doesn't come back, hunt it down and kill it. - a TX bumber sticker from Molly Ivin's book "Molly Ivins Can't Say That, Can She?"
PrincipalPoop: put it in a bucket of potatoes before you open it
cease: sounds like molly
klokwkdog: Tweeny -- it predates Molly
cease: she is great
cease: notice how fast bergman speaks
StephenFullerTweeny: BTW, if any of you are going to be in Austin on Jan 15th, Hightower an Ivins are hosting the annual Rabble Rouser's Round up at La Zona Rosa.
PrincipalPoop: a different audience only knows him from the father of the bride films
cease: so this was broadcast on kpfk, just not collected?
Bambi: The Unsinkable Molly Brown
StephenFullerTweeny: LA has some serious radio stations.
klokwkdog: poop - he's done a lot of stuff. Mammet
cease: yeah bergman's rythym there sounds a lot like stuff he does on other dear friedns and lets eat
StephenFullerTweeny: KCRW KPFK
klokwkdog: The Spanish Prisoner for example
StephenFullerTweeny: Thank grid for the internet.
cease: it did when i was there
PrincipalPoop: dirty rotten scoundrels
cease: kppc, kmet both had greatr firesign shows
klokwkdog: yep
cease: best of all was on an am radio station, krla in 67
Dexter Fong: The Jerk]
klokwkdog: Martin does an occasional op-ed for the NYT that's usually good reading
PrincipalPoop: I am in the phonebook shithead
StephenFullerTweeny: Dexter in finally in the phone book.
klokwkdog: man with 2 brains
PrincipalPoop: barefooting
cease: his ny stories are pretty good too
cease: new yhorker
StephenFullerTweeny: Mine is Abby Road normal.
Dexter Fong: Klok probably knows
Hemlock Stones: i know what barefooting means but this is a family show
klokwkdog: no he doesn't
klokwkdog: maybe it means "without the linear amp"; unsure
Dexter Fong: Doesn't mean not wearing protective device?
StephenFullerTweeny: Saw Hair w/my Dad in '72 in NYC.
Dexter Fong: doesn't it
PrincipalPoop: dancing under the boardwalk
cease: this was from the 67 show
cease: or at least they did stuff like this on it
Hemlock Stones: i never wear spyware
StephenFullerTweeny: So, has anyone heard from Dave? Does the dog bark with a Brooklyn accent? Bow this...
Dexter Fong: Cat:: I think this is another Dear Friends show
klokwkdog: thought Dave was on brake
cease: he's playing all 3
StephenFullerTweeny: Sir Francis Brake?
Bambi: yeah, spyware is like holey underwear lol
PrincipalPoop: the boids on foist street tweet sweetly
StephenFullerTweeny: Larry Byrd? Buy a mustang...
PrincipalPoop: he was here last week, having a good vacation
Dexter Fong: Buy a magic Johnson
Dexter Fong: Batteries included
cease: wanna buy a mustang? my mother's 1970 orange mustang is for sale
PrincipalPoop: trade in your wilt chamberlain
StephenFullerTweeny: Pick up a newshoud by it's ears, Dex? LoL
klokwkdog: cat - for sale in LA? You should be able to get a fortune for it!
Bambi: going to have to go lay down now ... eyes are watering badly and need to rest them...great seeing you all! Will be listening.
StephenFullerTweeny: Wilts & Wuthering
klokwkdog: nite Bambi!
Dexter Fong: Happy New Year bambi
klokwkdog: take care of them peepers!
StephenFullerTweeny: Bye Deer....
cease: i hope so, klok
cease: black leather top
Hemlock Stones: Happy New Year Bambi
PrincipalPoop: night sweet bambi, get well, or else grrrrr
cease: of course it hasnt run in 5 years or so
Hemlock Stones: sweet dreams
StephenFullerTweeny: wimp it.... wimp it good...
klokwkdog: Cat -- Jay Leno ought to give you a wheelbarrow full of $$ for it
cease: i hadnt thought of that
Bambi smiles and waves to everyone!
PrincipalPoop: wuthering if you still love me
||||||||| Honey Sanchez sashays in at 12:15 AM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
Bambi: have a great night! Happy New Year!
PrincipalPoop: hola honey
Honey Sanchez: knock knock
klokwkdog: cat - well, I think he probably has all the Mustangs he wants by now
Hemlock Stones: Hi Hon
Bambi: lol
StephenFullerTweeny: Are you from the west, honey?
Dexter Fong: Honey, do you still have that vial of radioactive material
Honey Sanchez: oi sure am
StephenFullerTweeny: Oi
Honey Sanchez: hello hemlock, baby
Dexter Fong: From out of the west come the thundering hoofbeats of Honey Sanchez
PrincipalPoop: hi ho aluminum away
klokwkdog: hold on a minit. this is a proper chat, not a barnyard!
cease: and her buffalo gals
klokwkdog: we have certain restrictions on participants
StephenFullerTweeny: As long as they're rolling thundering hoofbeats...
Dexter Fong: I thought it was the Normal Chubbyknuckle Corral
Honey Sanchez: gets out her nail file and chews her gum noisily
StephenFullerTweeny: Is David here?
||||||||| "Hey Bambi!" ... Bambi turns, and sees Bradshaw approching with the handcuffs, and is dragged away, screaming "it's only 12:19 AM, I don't have to go yet!"...
PrincipalPoop: honey is a classy lady, sweet and sticky
Dexter Fong puts an extension on that file
cease: no, hes in florence.
StephenFullerTweeny: I wouldn't want to be in the wrong garden ;)
Hemlock Stones: excuse me Catherwood, any chance of Tea ?

Andrew Lange Signs: I almost yelled WHERE did you find it!!!??" But ended up saying I was sorry if there was any inconvenience.
