||||||||| Catherwood announces, "The time is 4:33 AM - I now declare Thursday's chat log for March 03, 2005 officially open!"... and then, he retires back to the vestibule...
||||||||| tweeny waltzes in at 6:48 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
tweeny: If Mr. Bergman would like an Austin hat, I'd be happy to send one :) Grid let them get something like XM again...
||||||||| "6:49 PM? I'm late!" exclaims tweeny, who then runs out through the french doors and down through the garden.
||||||||| 8:54 PM: Gazatchorn jumps out of the hall closet saying "I've been listening to all of you talking about me for the past hour!"
||||||||| Gazatchorn walks away to The Portrait Gallery.
||||||||| Gazatchorn climbs in through the window at the ungodly hour of 8:55 PM
Gazatchorn: Oh my, the funny names group must have left!
Gazatchorn: And I can't miss the Donald.
||||||||| Catherwood strides up and snorts derisively "Presenting 'Merlyn', just granted probation at 8:58 PM", then leaves hurriedly.
Merlyn: gonna leave us for a TV show?
Gazatchorn: But it's really great sh__
Gazatchorn: Sometimes I think they do it on purpose.
Merlyn: Ah, you're still here. Thought you might have left and let the reaper get you.
||||||||| Catherwood strides in with a trumpet, plays a fanfare, and proclaims "Nine PM on Thursday, March 03, 2005 - I now declare alt.comedy.firesgn-thtre's chat officially open!"
||||||||| Catherwood ushers tweenthenandKnow into the room, accepts a grimy quarter as a gratuity, mumbles something about 9:01 PM, then departs.
tweenthenandKnow: by the blood of St. Menesis, I'm from Ireland
||||||||| Catherwood leads Bambi inside, makes a note of the time (9:05 PM), then fades off into the distance going on about the waiting room or the sitting room or something.
Bambi: howdy!
Merlyn: hey bambi, playing something 2nite?
Bambi: yetp :-)
Bambi: ah,Clem is live now
tweenthenandKnow: As some chinese philosopher said, just dig a hole deep enough, and they'll keep digging..
Merlyn: I didn't know he had been dead
Bambi: ;p;
Bambi: l
tweenthenandKnow: Or put out the whole, in the center of the earth
Bambi: lol ...can't type on this damn keyboard...ergo keyboard
tweenthenandKnow: Heinz site is golden...
tweenthenandKnow: Hi buzz!
||||||||| It's 9:10 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Gazatchorn - dead from pneumonia
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
tweenthenandKnow: Who are dezzse people?
tweenthenandKnow: The Weans...
||||||||| ah,clem enters at 9:12 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.
Merlyn: cogito ergo keyboard
||||||||| New CNI streaming notice: '"a few minutes with Firesign Theatre"'
ah,clem: hi all
Merlyn: hi clem
||||||||| Outside, the 9:15 PM downtown bus from Funfun Town pulls away, leaving cease coughing in a cloud of diesel fumes.
tweenthenandKnow: 2 flying saucers have just landed on my plate...
Bambi: hi ah,clem
cease: uh, clem
cease: uh, tween
tweenthenandKnow: The eggs, sir?
cease: la bambi chelta
Merlyn: hey cat
Bambi: hi Cat
tweenthenandKnow: They're in everybody's eggs...
cease: merl, you got my list?
cease: is it raining sperm?
tweenthenandKnow: Rag, Mama, Rag (Little Feat)
Merlyn: I don't have MS word, gimmie plain ascii
tweenthenandKnow: You a ascii, you a getta...
cease: i dont know how to do that, merl
||||||||| Bubba's Brain enters at 9:19 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.
cease: i thought that was a Band song, tween
Bubba's Brain: Hey all.
tweenthenandKnow: Dolphin Man!
Bambi: The Parlor Panther aka the sneek thief that loves bright shiney things and also known as Root, the hacker cat is laying down beside my chair enjoying the warmth from the gas heater
Merlyn: try just selecting everything and pasting it as plain text or whatever (no formatting)
tweenthenandKnow: Chinese Work Songs? Surely you jest...
Bambi: hi bubba
cease: i cant seem to get any volume on cni. the vu meter says its happening but i hear nothing
Bubba's Brain: Hey Bam.
cease: i'm not sure what plain text is, but i can try, merl.
Bubba's Brain: Its the writing on the sides of planes....
Bubba's Brain: Oops, that's plane text.
Bambi: give it a couple minutes Cat...ah,clem just cranked it up abit
tweenthenandKnow: Shower the People. James Taylor w/Bill Payne on boards. IU Auditoriom.
Bubba's Brain: When was that, tween?
||||||||| Elayne enters at 9:23 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.

Elayne: Evenin' all!
tweenthenandKnow: Mid-80's. I'm 50. DeLand, FL.
Merlyn: hey E
||||||||| Dexter Fong enters at 9:23 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.
Bambi: hi E!
cease: the new york contingent arrrives
Dexter Fong: Heidy Ho! little rangers
Bubba's Brain: Ah... I didn't recall JT coming to IU anytime recently.
tweenthenandKnow: Texan (Austin) by choice.
Elayne: Hey Dex!@
Bambi: hi Dex :-)
Bubba's Brain is waiting for the plumber, or somone like him.
tweenthenandKnow: Texas Twister!
Bambi: Beep! Beep!
Dexter Fong: Hi Elayne #
tweenthenandKnow: Representing the Mambo, of course. Worked for EDS Gulf War (caveat).
Elayne: Oh, this is really nice. I'd recommend everyone who goes to this chat do it via Firefox instead of IExplorer. With Explorer I kept getting annoying clicks every time the page refreshed; Firefox refreshes automatically with no annoying clicks.
cease: air america has ads for something called L magazine, about what to do in nyc. i wonder if it's online
Bambi: is it loud enough now Cat?
Elayne: Bambi, if you're talking about CNI, it could stand to be a bit louder... ah, the song just kicked in, the volume's a bit better now.
cease: yes it is, bambi
Bambi: Yes, Firefox 1.0.1 is great!
cease: yes, doc and lili put me on firefox and the mozilla mail browser while they were here. looks good
Dexter Fong: The '95 Fruitbat Special is nice too
Dexter Fong: ...and none of these browsers are stolen friends
Elayne: The only thing I don't like on it is my Blogger edit functions, I might wind up using Explorer when I update my blog.
Bambi: great Cat
tweenthenandKnow: Hate to put rain on the parade, but I'm still using OS 9. The cuurent version of OS X has all the smell of MultiFinder :)
Bubba's Brain: Lodestone shares a bathroom with two other offices, right now sewage is bubbling up through the bowl from below. I called the landlord, who called the plumber. who I'm waiting for.... thus I'm "waiting for the plumber or someone like him"
Merlyn: that stinks
Bubba's Brain: sure does.
tweenthenandKnow: Curry, saib?
Merlyn: tween, I'm still on OS9.x too, but I've heard the latest last couple of OS X releases are much better
Merlyn: multifinder, there's a blast from the past
Bubba's Brain: I'd settle for anyone like him, hell, anyone with a mop at this point.
tweenthenandKnow: Since 1986 "Fat Mac", Meryl.
cease: lost it again bambi, but that's ok. i'm not fond of this album
Elayne: I hate to say it, but as prescient as it is in many places Fighting Clowns is far from my favorite album...
Elayne: Whoa, that's a bit scary, Cat. I typed that last sentence just as yours showed up. :)
cease: i was going through a lot of falafals last night, el. still good stuff
tweenthenandKnow: Bringing the boyz, back holmes!
Elayne: Aww, thanks Cat, that's very sweet of you!
Bambi: still got it here no problems...anyone else having problms staying connected?
Merlyn: I can't get the latest java without OS X, or windows media player 9
Dexter Fong: Bambi: Not me
Elayne: Connecting fine here, Fran.
cease: while F is in japan, i'm doing major cleaning. i promised taylor jessen i'd tell him what firestuff i had long ago and just finished going through my files last night
Bubba's Brain: I was going through falafels in a greek restaurant....
cease: speaking of taylor, didja all read his journal of the tour?
Merlyn: scouring the fanbase
Bambi: good deal,,ok good deal
cease: when we met him backstage before the show, i thought he was someone's son. well, he probalby is but that's not what i mean
cease: good to be young and strong when you're moving around tons of firesign merchandise, eh merl
Merlyn: I would think he was two people's son
tweenthenandKnow: So, how are the boys doing on tour? Still think they should pair w/CSN. Stills in Austin. People know from guitar. "Hose him down!" "Too hot!".
Merlyn: gov' schwarzeneggar in weird japanese commercials: http://www.japander.com/japander/schwarz.htm
tweenthenandKnow: That's a very fast duck there...
cease: "weird" and "japanese commercial" is redundant
Merlyn: true, cat
Dexter Fong: Sausages wuth eyes
cease: if you remember el, when we drove down to visit ossman, i asked him about not insane and he said it was written when the 4 or 5 were "worried" about the japanese take-over of california
Dexter Fong: WW2 Propoganda?
cease: i told him how ridiculous that was. japan is far more "taken over" by american popular culture than the us will ever be by japanese stuff
cease: and that was before sushi took over north america
Bubba's Brain: Sushi sells sea-shells by the sea-shore?
Elayne: Funny you should mention that, Cat, we just came back from our local all-you-can-eat sushi place.
cease: a cutlural landslide
Dexter Fong: Fer shore, Bubba
cease: you got my note about sushi etc, el?
Bambi: more likely the 'business is war" type of worry...check out Rising Sun
Bubba's Brain: All who can eat?
cease: i loathed it when it was first served to me in 1967 and have never changed my opinion of it. have no idea why it's become so popular on this side of the ocean, and not all the REALLY GOOD japanese food
||||||||| Captain Wayne-O enters at 9:39 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.
Elayne: Hello Captain!
cease: what are all these mexicans doing here, bambi?
Dexter Fong: Officer on Board!
Elayne: Just read it now, Cat. Sushi not mandatory. :)
cease: wayne o wayne 0 - wish i rmember the rest of those lyrics.
Merlyn: raw fish is eaten in places with few fresh vegetables because you can get nutrients you need from raw fish which is destroyed by cooking, nutrients you'd normally get from veggies.
||||||||| Around 9:41 PM, Bambi walks off into the sunset...
cease: great song by local band Chilliwack called Rain-0 from long ago
||||||||| Outside, the 9:41 PM downtown bus from Funfun Town pulls away, leaving stephenfosterkane coughing in a cloud of diesel fumes.
||||||||| "9:41 PM? I'm late!" exclaims stephenfosterkane, who then runs out through the french doors and down through the garden.
||||||||| Bambi enters at 9:41 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.
tweenthenandKnow: Feat-Teenage Warrior (just a suggestion... favorite American keys)
cease: vegies are a big part of japanese diet, merl.
||||||||| stephenfosterkane enters at 9:42 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.
cease: there is a kind of cooking called Robata-yaki that is mostly veg.
cease: hi klok. still snowed in?
Bambi: just got server back after redial...please stand by ... be right with you
Dexter Fong: Hey Klok
Elayne: Hi Klok!
Bambi: hi Klok
tweenthenandKnow: 301!
cease: in my culiniary opinion, the japanese do the best things with beef and pork (and preety good with chicken). why are these culinary wonders not exported, instead just their fish perversion?
Elayne: It was out for a few seconds then back, Fran, at least on my end.
Merlyn: does sushi come from an area without much vegetation? eskimos live almost entirely on meat.
tweenthenandKnow: Let's stand him on his head...
Merlyn: cat, have the japanese discovered turkey yet? I saw an episode of Iron Chef where the hosts had to describe what turkey was.
||||||||| Captain Wayne-O says "Catherwood, call me a cab." After the obvious joke, Captain Wayne-O exits at 9:45 PM.
cease: i've never liked turkey so i didnt notice if anyone was eating it there or not
tweenthenandKnow: May I see your whiskey, please?
cease: they do great things with chicken. yak-tori for example, a sort of sweet bbq thing
tweenthenandKnow: I squezzed it from my own wlamrds...
Merlyn: I guess turkeys need really big woks
cease: i suspect this is also ttrue in nyc, and perhaps throughout the states but a favourite form of food in van these days is called fusion. for example, frenchified japanese food, or indianized greek food.
Bubba's Brain sings "You can tell by the way I use my wok, I'm a chinese cook, no time to talk...."
Merlyn: or frozen junk food
Elayne: Cat, I don't think we'll have any trouble finding fusion places in and around NYC.
tweenthenandKnow: Whatcha gonna do when you run outa chinese negroes?
cease: "japanese" food is largely fused from forign ideas. tempura originally portugese, as we discovered to our delight in portugal. much japanese food is of chinese origin, but better
cease: my fave is tonkatsu, which is the japense version of "pork cutlet"
cease: i would imagine Everything can be found in nyc, el
tweenthenandKnow: Much food Jules Verne.
||||||||| Captain Wayne-O enters at 9:49 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.
cease: wayne-o returns
Merlyn: hey capt. stay a while this time
cease: come on in, wayne. take off your shoester
tweenthenandKnow: Voice recognition? Inner Visions?
Elayne: I'll ask around this Saturday, I'm organizing a NYC blogger dinner because one of our bloggie-friends is coming down from Vermont.

cease: long story, bub. not for here
stephenfosterkane: yeah, a bit more snow, Cat. it's getting old, really old, now
tweenthenandKnow: What happened to Bambi's mother *FUR8(**?
cease: there's only so much i can ask of Doc
Bubba's Brain: Go ahead and send me what you can. I'm down to 1 of one and 2 of the other.
cease: yo gotta be young to enjoy snow
Captain Wayne-O: The expulsion of all revolting homonyms prediatied and emulsivied upon the cabinet on the left. . . Phil thanks if you really find me interesting and of course you are way up the scale of interesting I must be interestingly mundane or something?
Dexter Fong: Swell! Just updated Realplayer and now cant get CNI bleaaaaghhh

tweenthenandKnow: You gotta be Columbian to enjoy the head of a railroad.
cease: is that phil, or phil, wayne?
tweenthenandKnow: 6 more weaks of Britian?
Elayne: Dex, I think that may be why ah,Clem and Bambi left...
Bubba's Brain: What? The Prime Minister saw his shadow?
stephenfosterkane: winamp works, Dex, although I don't hear anything from CNI rite now
tweenthenandKnow: Britiana rules the waves, 1964. Meet the Beatles.

tweenthenandKnow: Da Feat - Falling Through The Worlds
cease: last we week asked him about the tour, and he really didnt answer. it was great to read in taylor's diary that he thought the tour went well and would consider doing more touring
stephenfosterkane: musike!
cease: it was ebullient to read that the lads made more money from this tour than any previous
Dexter Fong: Let's all chip in and buy him a touring machine
cease: are you a songster, wayne?
Bubba's Brain: BMW... the ultimate touring machine....
Captain Wayne-O: The fire guys burned it up in Marin County now that's alien teritory . . . ya think?
Dexter Fong: ...why it's almost human
tweenthenandKnow: 1973 Listner... He is not my brother, he is my sibling!
stephenfosterkane thought Colossus was the ultimate turing machine...
Dexter Fong: Firends drive away in theis brand new Colossus of Roads
cease: reading taylors journal, it sounded like their success or failure at moving merchandise was of great financial importance. yet that surely isnt what austin was reffering to.
tweenthenandKnow: Anyone heard of Robert Randolph, MS? Serious. Plays Hendrix on steel guitar.
Captain Wayne-O: Marrage the ultimate tworing machine?
stephenfosterkane: you're always welcome here at Seven Wonders Motors...
Dexter Fong: And don't forget your Barrage balloons for that upcoming Marrage

Elayne bids everyone a tired good night.
||||||||| "10:00 PM? I'm late!" exclaims Elayne, who then runs out through the french doors and down through the garden.

Bunnyboy: Would that it were possible to actually hear nothing. Even silence is loaded.
tweenthenandKnow: Cannes you here me know?
Gazatchorn: but Orson Bean cured my warts.
Bambi: it's still there cat..unless you are so lagged that you are still back when we had to boot server?? try reconnecting?
cease: i thought it was a reflection of dave and judith's ambiguity regarding child preference. a daughter, or son
Boney: Should have named him The Brain instead.
stephenfosterkane: but this is a chat unlike others, not really a proper chat, but a creature of our savior, Merlyn
tweenthenandKnow: Abbey Normal?
stephenfosterkane: so what, Cat, when the kid is 12, has to choose one or the other?
Merlyn: it's a proper chat, just not typical. I got the idea from another php chat

Bunnyboy: Riddle me this, Mole: How is yer 'ORSON gravedigger like unto yer coarse, comic actor. Eh? Eh?

||||||||| "Hey Captain Wayne-O!" ... Captain Wayne-O turns, and sees Bradshaw approching with the handcuffs, and is dragged away, screaming "it's only 10:24 PM, I don't have to go yet!"...
Merlyn: I couldn't get on to IRC some nights
stephenfosterkane: the CHAT is a creature of Elayne, Cat, but Merlyn got us out of that 12th centrury chatroom stuff
Bunnyboy: lo Dave
tweenthenandKnow: Just like the Beatles, only cheaper.
Bambi: might have to reload the player? if you are in Windows ... try winamp classic 2.9x from www.oldversion.com
Dave: not much is up, lots down
stephenfosterkane: howdy, Dave
Boney: Didn't Yoko Ono say that everybody is an artist--whether they want to be or not? She didn't? Well, she should have said it.
cease: i see your point, klok
tweenthenandKnow: Long live Firesign.
cease: ok, i'l;l reboott the computer, see if i can get cni.
Bunnyboy: Okay, there's the answer. The dub was murky. You are loud and clear, ah,clem.
stephenfosterkane: it was VERY frustrating, Cat. I spent as much time fighting to get on (or back on) DalNet as I did chatting, sometimes
Boney: I'm just explaining why Peter Bergman and Yoko Ono are going on a world tour together. Bergman said that everybody is a member of the Firesign Theatre. Didn't he? Something like that.
Bambi: thanks Bunny
tweenthenandKnow: Yo ko! Oh, no!....
stephenfosterkane: sounds better so far, Clem
Bunnyboy: Yay! Loud and clear on the Ash Grove now.
Boney: Everybody should form Firesign Theatre clone comedy groups.
Dave: no they shouldn't boney because they are their own entity
Bunnyboy: Don't GET a JOB! Hang out at "Bob's"!
tweenthenandKnow: Sir Paul. Now there's a reason for knighthood ;)
stephenfosterkane suspects everyone should get inspired by (or inspire along with) Firesign T. and do their own creative bit
Bunnyboy: Y'all heard about the Fab Four that had an audience with Her Nibs this week?
Boney: You mean I can't be Phil974.630.4493 ?
Bambi: yeah, those old huge IRC serers were abit of a pain...cni's channel is on a small public IRC server...takes a minute to get on but once you are on, works well and have rarely had a netsplit.
Boney: That's not a phone number, by the way
stephenfosterkane: Sir Paul is OK, compared to some of the toads that've pulled that title before; I'm glad that at least we don't have to endure "Sir Bill" now
||||||||| Gazatchorn walks away to The Sitting Room.
Boney: I seem to have misinterpreted the bouys words once again.
stephenfosterkane: He couldn't even open the damn box it came in; shows Ballmer is really the brains behind that outfit...
tweenthenandKnow: billville... billville...
Bubba's Brain: Sir Bill of Redmond?
Boney: the ballmers of an ox
||||||||| cat enters at 10:31 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.
Bunnyboy: He's "No-Sir" William, K.B.E.
Bambi: and Grates, gets knighted...for business stuff...hmmmm
||||||||| 10:32 PM -- Gazatchorn enters.   (Entry from Nick Danger's "Idiots I Have Been Paid To Follow").
stephenfosterkane: no, still the Ogre of Redmond, Bubba. It's an honorary knighthood. Amazing what you can get by laying a few bux on Oxford U, eh?
cat: no, still no sound
tweenthenandKnow: Me too, until they talked about what he'd done for AIDS in Africa.
Bunnyboy: cat AND cease? It's a clone split!
||||||||| Merlyn aka 'The Reaper' has killed off cease at 10:32 PM
Bambi: any FST requests for after this album?
Boney: martin short will star as Sir Bill in the upcoming motion picture
cat: cease can be ceased
stephenfosterkane: cat - have you checked the player on other online stations to be sure nothing generic is worng?
cat: this john cage song is interminable, bambi
Merlyn: he's de ceased
Bunnyboy: But, additionally, Ol' Liz briefly met with Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Brian May.
Bambi: Cat what OS?
cat: i'll try it with the video from seattle, klok
Bunnyboy: I believe she actually asked one of them, "...and what do YOU do?"
tweenthenandKnow: Jeff Beck's Guitar Shoppe? w/Jan Hammer?
Boney: Working title "Ed Grimley, Junior--The Richest Man on Earth"
stephenfosterkane: is this doppelganger nite? darn, I forgot, Bunny.
cat: right, i can open the mac, bambi. that might work. i'm on windows on the dell
Merlyn: Cat, I wouldn't have to bump off your earlier self if you'd just hit the Exit button before leaving your browser
Bambi: quicktime and real player don't really like 16kbps very well
Merlyn: it's their life blood
tweenthenandKnow: Hi, I'm Ed Grimley. If you're on the edge of death, I'd like to sell you some insurance.
Bambi: suggested Winamp Classic 2.9x from www.oldversion.com if in Windows
Bunnyboy: Quick! Someone sign on as EDMUND....EDMUND!
stephenfosterkane: winamp does fine for me, folks, runs on PCs and...it's not evil.
||||||||| "10:35 PM? I'm late!" exclaims Gazatchorn, who then runs out through the french doors and down through the garden.
tweenthenandKnow: Been fun. Until last time, again...
Dexter Fong: Back
cat: ok merl
stephenfosterkane: wb, Dex
Bunnyboy: nite tween
Dexter Fong: Was that Buddy or Bunny gazatchorn?
cat: tween
Bambi: wb Dex
Dexter Fong: Night Tweenster
Boney: Who is Ol' Liz?
Bambi: nite tween
||||||||| mac cat enters at 10:37 PM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.
Bunnyboy: lo Dex. A couple of folks invoked Ed Grimley, which reminds me: SCTV Vol. 3 came out this week, featuring the first Martin Short eps.
Dave: so which cat do we address? the personal or mac?
Dave: you should have been Mac the Cat
Bunnyboy: Boney: Her Royal Highness, Sovereign of All England.
stephenfosterkane: nite Tween
Dexter Fong: Bunny: Got any idea if they're gonna release the 45 minute Showtime? shows?
Dexter Fong: Maybe not showtime
cat: ok, i can get it on the mac
Boney: Oh, I thought you meant Liz Taylor.
Dexter Fong: I thought you meant the Lizard Queen
Boney: She'll be appearing soon as a character witness for Michael Jackson. A must-see performance.
Bambi: cool Cat
cat: i'm just using the mac for cni. for some reason dell cant get it tonight on qucktime.
stephenfosterkane: cat - if you got windows media player, to hear CNI, feed it this URL: http://216.234.115.10:8000/
cat: is this a dear friend?
stephenfosterkane: WMP won't digest the CNI link on the chat screen
Dexter Fong: Cat: Sounds like a fairly large audience and the venue sounds like an auditoreum
Bunnyboy: Dex: Those were Cinemax shows, and yes, it appears the game plan is to release all the shows. Volumes 1 through 3 made up Season 4 (the first NBC season), Vol. 4 will start Season 5, then, I guess, Season 6 (the Cinemax season), then the first 3 sydicated seasons.
Boney: Maybe the Queen should give Michael Jackson an honorary knighthood.
Dexter Fong: Thanks Bunny
Boney: bestow upon
Bunnyboy: Dex: You have Volume 1, rite?
Boney: it couldn't hurt
Dexter Fong: Between FST, SCTV, Python and 130 or so Goon shows, I need another life =)
Dexter Fong: Bunny , yes have Vol 1
Bunnyboy: The booklet in Vol. 1 states that they intend to release 'em all, in time.
Bunnyboy: "Ooh, you deaded me!"
cat: windows media player canot play the file
Dexter Fong: "Well said, little lump of suasage"
Dexter Fong Now take off Mummy's drawers, put down that string sword and climb into this paragraph"
Bunnyboy: That's one smooth and suacy suasage.
stephenfosterkane: it's the Ash Grove, Dex
Bubba's Brain: Little lump o' mine... I'm gonna let it shine....
Dexter Fong: Yes it is, thanks Klok
Dexter Fong: Probably first broadcast of Pass the Indian
cat: no dex, i think it predates that
cat: they were way into indians before they became the firesign theatre
Dexter Fong: Cat: Huh?
Bunnyboy: I had no idea PASS THE INDIAN PLEASE was conceived in the Ash Grove era.
Bambi: sounds like back to listening on the mac cat lol
cat: austin, ossman and bergman had all done shows about indians for kpfk pre-firesign. i think this comes from that stuff
Dexter Fong: Cat: Perhaps, but this is certainly a very early performance of it
Bambi: any FST requests for after this album?
Dexter Fong: Well...my vote is always for lesser known, radio shows rather than albums which everyone here *should* already have memorized =)
cat: electrrician perhaps?
cat: yes dex, i agree
Bunnyboy: MISSING SHOE! Play the most maligned album!
Dexter Fong: That's three votes
Bambi: lol, Dex
cat: ah clem played something that i'd never heard before a few weeks ago
Dexter Fong: Bunny: Moremaligned that EOBE?
cat: yes bun, that's a good idea. not a good album, but a Good Idea
Dexter Fong: than
||||||||| It's 10:50 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| tweenthenandKnow - dead from jaundice
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
cat: bambi, can you read word?
stephenfosterkane: more maligned than fighting clowns?
Bunnyboy: Only play ELECTRICIAN if it's the first Sony CD release, with the 5 second gap at the start.
Dexter Fong: and play it backwards
Bambi: Cat, word files?
stephenfosterkane: as in what the duck came down with?
cat: yes. i sent a Word attachment to merl but he said he couldnt open it. i thought everyone could read word files
Bambi: ah, shoot
Dexter Fong: Hmm..this performance not as early as I had though
Bunnyboy: Yes, play the Backwards Chinese FST ouvre.
cat: austins first record was called Duckman. and no, its not the superlative cartoon
Bambi: oh, shoot....ah,clem didn't get my message about Missing Shoe....oh, well ... maybe over the weekend
stephenfosterkane: if it's not ultra-recent, they should be able to attack it with Open Office just fine
Dexter Fong: Open Open Open Office
stephenfosterkane: president? I thought Don Ameche invented the telephone
Bambi: yes, I can read word files ... You might convert it to .rtf format for Merlyn on the Mac ... it's a more universal file type across platforms.
Bubba's Brain: Pass the president, please?
Bunnyboy: May bbl. A food break ensues. Later!
Dexter Fong: Klok: He invented the Hour
stephenfosterkane: OO v2 beta is out, so they may have a production virgin soon that can read the latest mess from Redmond
cat: i should send it myself on my mac and then send it to him
Dexter Fong: Night Bunny
stephenfosterkane: happy din, Bun
Bubba's Brain: Hmmm... a production virgin.
||||||||| "Hey Bunnyboy!" ... Bunnyboy turns, and sees Bradshaw approching with the handcuffs, and is dragged away, screaming "it's only 10:53 PM, I don't have to go yet!"...
Bubba's Brain: I'd rather have a custom....
Bambi: if you can open it on the mac ... you can save it in a mac format for Merlyn too Cat
Merlyn: I can do RTF just recently on the firesign website, I needed it for taylor's diary
stephenfosterkane: in olden days a bit of stocking was considered shocking, but...
cat: ok bambi, i just sent it to you
Merlyn: it's not the format per se, it's whether I have something that can open it. I refuse to buy MSword.
Merlyn: "In olden days a glimpse of stalking was looked on as something shocking"
cat: merl, you think i can send it to my mac and then to you?
Bambi: ok, will convert it to rtf and send it back or on to Merlyn if you'd like Cat
stephenfosterkane: Merlyn -- they have a virgin for the Mac -- http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.4/index.html
cat: for mel gibson, it still is
Merlyn: If you want, cat
Bubba's Brain: Mac will be happy to hear that....
cat: yes, send it to me, bambi
cat: what happend to cni?
cat: no firesign no more
Bambi: ok, will do
Merlyn: can it import word files, SFK?
cat: i'm gonna put on Hollywood nIghtshift, train to hell, part 2
Merlyn: Oh, I see where it says yes
Bubba's Brain: Yes, its says Yes, it says Yes....
stephenfosterkane: probably not the very most recent ones, but decent ones, the ones most everyone uses. anyway, it's free, worth a try
Merlyn: but it requires OS X, I'm still on 9.x
Dexter Fong: Bambi or ah...what took over your program?
stephenfosterkane: oh, sorry Merlyn. I think that OS X being on top of free BSD makes things much more amenable to porting
Dexter Fong: KFI = KingFish Internacional
ah,clem: I dropped it to our main server, did you not hear me close the show? If so sorry, just too tired tonight to go on, and have some things to fix here
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 11 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Merlyn: yes, I plan to go to it eventually
mac cat: am i here now
Merlyn: Your URL is saved in this chat for later
stephenfosterkane: much appreciated the show, Clem. heard the benediction, but it got cut a tad short
mac cat: why canti get a questionmark
Dexter Fong: 'so K clem...and thanks for the programs, as always
ah,clem: anyway, thanks for joining us
Merlyn: I hope Phil shows up...
Dexter Fong: Cat: Try an exclamation point and bend it a little
ah,clem: now I can chat a bit, as I have some bandwidth now
cat: back on the non mac.
Dexter Fong: Battle of the Bandwidths
Bubba's Brain: Banned width?
cat: listeningt to something probalby none of you , except boney, has heard
Boney: Why are we here? I've forgotten why we're here.
cat: very funny show austin did in late 70s
Dexter Fong: No faties? Bubba
ah,clem: BRB
stephenfosterkane: Open Office (open version of Star Office) is open source, but it's more or less Unix-y based (there is a Windows version, since that's a big target and Star had already done the heavy lifting for it)
||||||||| "11:03 PM? I'm late!" exclaims ah,clem, who then runs out through the french doors and down through the garden.
Merlyn: we're over here because we put all the boxes over there
Bubba's Brain: Well, that precludes me, then.
||||||||| "11:04 PM? 11:04 PM!!" says Catherwood, "ah,clem should be here by now...oh, THERE you are!" as ah,clem enters and sits on the couch.
Merlyn: yeah, that's what it looked like SFK, thus the OS X-only port
Dexter Fong: Preclude me out
Bambi: ok, Cat..the RTF is coming back at you
Dexter Fong: Radio Theater fire
stephenfosterkane: by the time they thought about the Mac port, even tho' it's another big target, they probably saw OS X coming, which would make it lots easier and decided not to bother with 9. too bad.
cat: did you cc merl?
Bambi: wb ah,clem
ah,clem: tks Bambi
Boney: http://samuel-beckett.net/Waiting_for_Godot_Part1.html
stephenfosterkane: i'd encourage everyone who can to use Open Office for docs if they can make it work
Bambi: no, Imust have missed that when I went upstairs to my computer...can send on to him if you'd like though
stephenfosterkane had to buy $60 worth of ink carts recently 'cause his printer never gets used and the ones in there were 5 years old and dried out
ah,clem: yes, inkjet can be expensive
stephenfosterkane: so I rarely do anything but email "documents" now.
ah,clem: put carts in plastic wrap when not in use
stephenfosterkane: yeah, I used to reload carts with a syringe and bulk ink, thought about that this time, but...every 5 years? not cost-effective
Bambi: yep in sealed plastic works great
Boney: I was badly misinterpreting things years before deconstructionism became a fad.
Dexter Fong: Boney: Still pondering that =))
stephenfosterkane: anyone hear this week's "Says You" where the contestants were challenged to define 'deconstruct' ? ROFL
||||||||| It's 11:10 PM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Dave - dead from the yaws
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Dexter Fong: Klok: NPR AM?
stephenfosterkane: yeah, but the Lexmark gets all bent out of shape when I reinstall the carts. Bad enough when I print a bunch of stuff in Linux...
Dexter Fong: afk for refill
stephenfosterkane: hold on, dex, I'll find it for you. you can hear it on the WGBH website if you have broadband, but not sure the NYC outlet if any
cat: when you smoke valium cigarettes, you'll forget problems you thought you never had
Bambi: Cat, sent it on to Merlyn too at visi.com address too...that's the only one I have
cat: that's from hollywood nightfshift
Boney: why don't you tralium?
Bubba's Brain: I'm gonna tune out and drop in.... or maybe just drop. See y'all next week.
cat: by bub
Bubba's Brain: oh, and turn off....
Bubba's Brain: Nytol, nite cat...
||||||||| Dave waltzes in at 11:12 PM carrying an obsidian door knocker.
Bambi: night Bubba and Dave
||||||||| "11:13 PM? I'm late!" exclaims Bubba's Brain, who then runs out through the french doors and down through the garden.
Dave: great line there Cat
stephenfosterkane: yeah, Dex - WNYC AM, 3PM Sundays
Dave: no i'm back sort of, blind person juggling instant messages, look out!
cat: i'm listening to an austin radio from from late 70s
Merlyn: Dave, did you get disconnected?
Bambi: wb Dave
Dexter Fong: Thanks Klok
Boney: I'm suing the team of brain surgeons that cured me of my psychomotor epilepsy and ruined my budding career on the punk rock circuit.
Dexter Fong: Have you tried high voltage short circuitry?
stephenfosterkane: Dex - also WLIU 88.3, 5:30 PM Wed. and WNYC- 88.1 Brookville (wherever the heck that is, sounds like fellow traveler of the AM, tho')
cat: if you're from australia you have to go to hell, because of the way you talk
Dave: no Brian I didn't, just was doing a lot and it kicked me
stephenfosterkane: if you're from australia, all you have to do is go home...
Dexter Fong: If your from New Zealand, it just a bit of a hop skip jump away, Mate
Boney: Whatever happened to Killer Spaz? Don't ask.
Dave: hey I never thought of that little joke
stephenfosterkane won't tell
Merlyn: Hmm, that's possible - the manual refresh is actually 299 seconds, but that's probably too close to the reaper time of 300 seconds
Dexter Fong won't ask
Dexter Fong won't listen either
Dave: I don't know I just left it
cat: they're on a train through hell
cat: austin and his 2 nightshift partners
Dexter Fong: Names Cat?
Boney: little artie choke little joke
||||||||| Catherwood announces "It's 11:19 PM; let's see who falls in through our celebrity trap door!" -- he pulls a lever, and Phil Austin plummets onto the oriental shag rug.
cat: the devil is daffy duck
Dexter Fong: Hi Phil
Merlyn: Hey phil
cat: here's phil. ask him. they're hilarious too
Phil Austin: evening all
Dexter Fong: Hilario?
Bambi: Hi Phil...twice in as many weeks ... awesome!
Boney: and then I self-administer electro convusive therapy. That might have worked
ah,clem: hi Phil!
cat: icy licks hello
Dexter Fong: but you forgot to pay your electric bill, Boney?
Phil Austin: hi, everyone
Dave: Phil!
Boney: as soon as he shows up, the typos return
Boney: convuLsive
stephenfosterkane: more accounting?
Phil Austin: eleven thirty on the east coast. I'm late again
Merlyn: Have you read Taylor's tour diary?
Dexter Fong thinks it is good to see some red ink on the board
Boney: fashionably
stephenfosterkane: 11:22 in RI, but we have funny Kloks...
Bambi: well, the thought's what counts!
Phil Austin: merl: yes, I have read taylor's account and enjoyed it
Dexter Fong: Klok:
Bambi: aybe we should start at 10pm lol
cat: he makes you sound very upbeat about the tour, phil
Dexter Fong: (smirk)
Merlyn: It's like I was there
Dexter Fong: Bambi: The clem would never be here =)
Phil Austin: cat: better than seeming downbeat
stephenfosterkane: it's only 4:24 PM in Auckland, though...
Dexter Fong: Seemingly beaten down, he arose to be a thorn in somebody's side
Dave: I've talked to a writer for downbeat
cat: i couldnt tell from last week,. you were asked about the tour and you seemed at a loss for words
Bambi: Dex: LOL
stephenfosterkane: we didn't give him any lines, Cat
cat: we all want you to have the best possible time or we wouldnt be here
Phil Austin: cat: probably because i was working n something else and lost track of the conversation
stephenfosterkane: and of course, with the bible-thumpers on the warpath, we can't use pink pages anymore to add stuff quick
Boney: Phil, have you ever met Orson Bean?
cat: 2 cans in every 6 pack of gamblers beer are empty. but a lucky one is full of cocaine
Dave: I should get going, sorry I can't stick around longer, night all and I'll see you next week Lord willing
cat: ah, krassner's friend
stephenfosterkane: nite Dave
Dexter Fong: Night Dave
ah,clem: night Dave
cat: i'm in the middle of train to hell part 2, phil, as you may discern
Phil Austin: bone: never. there's a question I've not anticipated.
cat: you gotta get older so your parents will let you stay up later, dave
Dexter Fong: Phil: Have you ever met Judge Roy Bean?
Bambi: night Dave
Phil Austin: cat: nightshift was an odd thing, I always thought. Haven't heard any of them in years
Dave: yeah I'm workin' on that Cat, next year I'll be able to
Phil Austin: Ah, bean questions. hmmmm .....
Dave: g'night, be loved it's a good thing
||||||||| Dave departs at 11:26 PM, singing "Toad away, toad away; toad away, toad away! Where do you go when you're toad away?"
Dexter Fong: Migras
cat: upper middle class wine, the wine that sends more people to hell than money
Phil Austin: night, Dave
Bambi: Bean ie and Cecil?
stephenfosterkane: oops, bean questioned; they're giving Phil the 3rdº
Dexter Fong: Bean e.g., Ibid
Phil Austin: they're just human beans, after all
ah,clem: I'll take a fifth
Merlyn: ever meet rowan atkinson?
stephenfosterkane: weren't they involved with SpongeBob and Popeye, Bambi?
cat: maybe i'll never hear all of the radio projects you and the lads have been in, but it's worth trying
Dexter Fong: Ever meet Rowan and Martin?
Phil Austin: merl: now there's a bean stretch
cat: when radio free oz started on krla, i thought i'd gone to heaven
Phil Austin: dex: now I'm lost, unless you mean Dan Rowan and Bean Martin
Dexter Fong watches Austin string things out
Bambi: gawd, I hope not Klok!
stephenfosterkane: did he ever get knighted, Merlyn? if not, why Bill Gates and not him?
Boney: cease: Paul Krassner and Orson Bean. Yes, there is a connection.
Dexter Fong: Though not a Pole he waxes eloquently
cat: orson introdcues him on one of his albums. they riff back and forth about their lengthy aquaintence
Merlyn: Mr Bean got knighted, and Ted Knight got beaned
Phil Austin: string bean things out?
stephenfosterkane: is it six degrees of Orson Bean night?
stephenfosterkane lost his program for tonight, so is forced 2 improvise
Merlyn: get from bean to bacon!
Bambi: Grates ... he's already too puffed up ... this will not make matters better ... being honorary knighted ... perhaps the fact that he can't add the Sir to his name is justice LOL
Merlyn: but only using people whose named are food!
Phil Austin: wasn't orson bean kind of a regular on Johhny Carson in the old days?
Boney: cat, cease... whatever you're calling yourself
Dexter Fong: Phil: Pretty snappy
Merlyn: s/named/names/
cat: if not jack paar, phil
Phil Austin: although I suppose using the words bean and regular in the same sentence ....
cat: i change names more often than i change clothes
Merlyn: yeah, orson bean was one of those actors mostly famous for being mostly famous
Boney: Yes, he was guest hosting the Tonight Show. Krassner was a guest.
stephenfosterkane: yeah, one of those fill ins when a scheduled guest didn't show, wasn't he?
Bambi: married to Kevin Bacon, Merlyn?
Phil Austin: beans and bacon yum
stephenfosterkane is reminded to start his named early tonight...
Dexter Fong: Merl: Orson Bean was like Tv's answer to Radio's Henry Morgan
cat: the acid story. of course
Phil Austin: The Good Guest
cat: well with paul, "the acid story" is not a finitne quantity
Merlyn: so a Jeopardy answer of "TV's Orson Bean" would be "Radio's Henry Morgan"?
Dexter Fong: ..and How he got That Way
Bambi: you are a good sport Phil...getting the 3rd degree on meetings etc.
cat: was henry morgan the guy on mash?
stephenfosterkane: yeah, you want someone you know won't pull out a pair of scissors and come after you
Bambi: lol
Phil Austin: I've always remembered an episode of Carson wherein Bean described a trip across county in a motor home with his family
Dexter Fong: Merl: Ohh I'm sorry , we we're looking for *Who is* Radio's Henry Morgan
stephenfosterkane is reminded to ask why, exactly, was Bottles trying to kill Tirebiter?
Merlyn: damn, forgot the question-phrasing
stephenfosterkane: I missed that show, Phil (and am secretly glad ;-))
ah,clem: fading fast, in more ways than one, I'll read cheese log later, gotta get rest, good night all
cat: capt henry morgan, the drink of radio now pilots
Dexter Fong: Klok: He had his hand down one pair of etc etc
cat: no i think its bebop that requests some capt morgan
Phil Austin: steve: in later life, tirebiter is married to the actress who plays bottles. it's marital murder
stephenfosterkane: ah
Dexter Fong: Night Clem and as always, thank you
cat: that woman's trying to kill me!
Phil Austin: or attempted marital murder
Phil Austin: Barbara Bobeaux's got a knife
||||||||| ah,clem rushes off, saying "11:35 PM? Mark Time is almost on! Where's a radio?"
Dexter Fong: How incisive?
Bambi: lol
stephenfosterkane: never got that from the LP, must re-listen, I guess
Merlyn: Phil DID fall in through the celebrity trap door this evening
Phil Austin: no, it's happy pandit who's guzzling the captain morgan
cat: ah yes
stephenfosterkane: well, you had enough time to grease the catch this time, Merlyn. We should hope so!
cat: lobo gets into the orange widow, no?
Phil Austin: si, es bueno
Dexter Fong: Phil: Isn't the pilot named Captain Morgan...and if so...well, it's a troubling thought
cat: i had no idea what that referred to until doc and i drove to seattle listenign to that in 99.
Merlyn: but there's only two "celebrity" entrances so far - I'll add a stretch dumpster
cat: for yhour last tour
cat: interesting tale. good beverage
Boney: When is George Tirebiter gonna be on The Surreal Life?
Phil Austin: dex: happy is the pilot. god is the copilot
cat: get thee behind me
stephenfosterkane: did Bob Scott ever sue?
Dexter Fong: Phil: Early bulletin from Rangerowa said "God Dead. Sen repalcement
cat: the spriit of st. louis. one of 2 things i recall about my last visit to the smithsonian in 1964. one of those space capsuels was the other
Bambi: did anyone watch the Virgin Global Flyer event...gotta be good for a skit, huh, Phil?
Phil Austin: who is bob scott?
stephenfosterkane is not sure whether Dex really went to move the car or maybe went out for something else...
Boney: Reebus, you're insane.
Dexter Fong: Virgin Global Flyers, for your Next trip Around the World
Phil Austin: is it true that Dr. Gene Scott is dead?
stephenfosterkane: Phil -- famous AVG flyer and author of God is My Co-Pilot
Phil Austin: the drop-down beer masks were on board the flight
Dexter Fong: Klok: I won't tell and you don't ask and nobody listens, see?
stephenfosterkane: tell what, Dex?
Boney: Dr Gene and Dr Hunter caught the same cab
Phil Austin: steve: thanks
Bambi: yes, Gene Scott is dead...stroke complications, sunday was memorial on his cband sat channel
stephenfosterkane: I know no-thing
Merlyn: Yes, Phil.
Boney: that's why downbeat is cool
stephenfosterkane: AVG == Flying Tigers (the WWII ones, not the airline)
Dexter Fong: Phil: Didn't know you were an admirer? of him, used to watch him when he was on those flying suacer channels, fascinating performer
Phil Austin: bambi: is it true that the youthful Mrs. Scott inherits everything?
Phil Austin: dex: Dr. Me is largely modeled on Dr. Gene
Bambi: don't know the details, but she did do the memorial service herself
Phil Austin: loosely modeled
Boney: senior loco knows what I'm talking about
Bambi: I bet she does ... as long as she keeps it 'on the air' lol
Phil Austin: bambi: what the hell are we going to do without him? no one to write and overwrite on those white blackboards
Dexter Fong: Phil: I really did find him fascinating..not really his message, but his performance...he could have shared the stage with anybody and maybe even dominated it
Boney: sen~or
Phil Austin: boneman: lobo is cool, loco is not
Boney: robotomy?
Dexter Fong: Bi-polar Radio Now
Phil Austin: dex: i realized only the other night - pre-death- that he's primarily a kind of linquistic bible scholar and prison lawyer, of course
Boney: sen~or bebop loco
Bambi: LOL ,, I loved his stories about the Lost Tribe from the 70s sitting there with his cigar, hat, leather jacket and literaery books
Bambi: literary books piled up
Phil Austin: and his horses and his babes and his fight with the government
stephenfosterkane is at a loss for words, down to 4 consonants, but is still hoping for a way to play the 'x'
Dexter Fong: Phil: I would watch mesmerized as he grew annoyed because no contributions, and he'd sit down and just stare into the camera for like 5 or 6 minutes at a time
Phil Austin: r.i.p. doc (as he liked to call himself)
Bambi: he never seemed to lose though...lol
Phil Austin: yeah, or he' d play the same video clip five times in a row, daring the phones to ring
cat: i know not of this
Bambi: yep...he will be missed ... at leat the cacer didn't get him
Dexter Fong: You heathen
Merlyn: I wonder if Gene Scott used Dr. Bronner's soap
Bambi: hate this keyboard
Dexter Fong: Yul Bronner?
Phil Austin: I know. I'd sort of thought he'd beaten so much that he'd achieved some kind of tv immortality.
stephenfosterkane: now that is something I've got experience with!
Phil Austin: maybe mrs. scott will just play the old tapes over and over
stephenfosterkane: and dare someone to call?
Bambi: wasn't he the inspiration of the Church of Bob? We can save your soul for a price guy?
Dexter Fong: Mrs. Scott goes 'all in' daring Amarillo Slim to call
stephenfosterkane: is he related to Slim Whitman?
Merlyn: There's some Firesign connections with the church of the subGenius
Bambi: I am sure she is obligated to keep it going...he would make sure of that
Dexter Fong: Bambi: I don't believe so
Phil Austin: Mrs,. S. was at leas a hundred years younger than the doc. He found her in the bookkeeping deparment of his empire
Dexter Fong: Klok: No, Paul Whiteman
stephenfosterkane: oh
Phil Austin: my dad's father used to play in the Paul Whiteman orchestra
Bambi: oh, ok ... thanks Dex
cat: elayne talks about it in falafal, merl. the subgenius guy introduced her to ossman
cat: impressive, phil
Phil Austin: or was it the Paul Whiteman Orchestra?
Dexter Fong: WPhil: was he there when Bix Beiderbecke was there?
Phil Austin: or was it the White Paulman orchestra. I'm getting confused
cat: as they say in japan, you seen one whiteman, you seen em all
stephenfosterkane: now that sounds like a couple of lightyears ago, but Whiteman don't go back that far, does he (desperately opens Allmusic in separate browser tab...;-)
Phil Austin: no, it was in denver in the early days
stephenfosterkane: probably depended on whether they played Poconos, Jackson, or Chicago, Phil ;-)
Dexter Fong: Klok: He does, like this was about 1927 or so, shortly before Bix died
cat: maybe neal cassady was in the audience with his dad. this would be the 30s?
stephenfosterkane: Bix died pretty short
Dexter Fong: Phil: Like when Whiteman had a local group?
Phil Austin: dex; yes
Phil Austin: my grandparents ran a music school in denver
Dexter Fong: Interesting
stephenfosterkane: 1890->1967, Dex
Dexter Fong: Good years, Klok
Bambi: we have certainly lost a lot of great talent in the last 5-10 years ... glad all the 4 or 5 crazy guys are all still here :-)
cat: that would have been in the days people made their own music, eh phil?
stephenfosterkane: Originally a classically trained violinist, Paul Whiteman led a large Navy band during World War I and always had a strong interest in the popular music of the day. In 1918, he organized his first dance band in San Francisco and, after short periods in Los Angeles and Atlantic City, he settled in New York in 1920.
Dexter Fong: Bambi: The pace accellerates as you age =)
Merlyn: HA! Was just reading some usenet posts in alt.atheism, and I see this:
Merlyn:
Merlyn: Yes, Turkey has been the very epitome of forward thinking and high
Merlyn: civilization over the last 4 centuries. Progress, freedom,
Merlyn: democracy ,science and culture. Where would we be without the Turks?
Merlyn:
Merlyn: Turkish coffee. Towels. May I see your passport please?
Phil Austin: our house is kind of a loft - one big room - and downstairs i can hear that oona's fallen asleep on the couch and Mex to the Max is still on the tv.
Boney: Back then people actually had to pay for music.
stephenfosterkane: "The world is spinning so much faster now / Than it did when I was young" - Rickie Lee J
Dexter Fong: Boney: But not very much
Boney: They'd go to the places called Record Stores and actually pay for music. I'm not kidding.
Phil Austin: mex to the max is a local music show and the hostess is an entrancingly babelike babe who speaks spanglish, swinging back and forth - mid =-sentence - between spanish and english
Bambi: tell, me about it Dex! don't let the pic fool you on my blog...I am 1/2 a century old now myself now ... and a great aunt this week, sheesh! (and that is a recent pic)
Dexter Fong: Boney:
Bambi: http://bambismusings.blogspot.com
Boney: these
stephenfosterkane: well, Bambi, you've just got to settle down and face the fact that the first third of your life is over...
Dexter Fong: Boney: was thinking even farther back...the Pfyfy and Drum thing
cat: the austin music school . sounds like a great tale for the old detective, phil
Dexter Fong: Troubadors
Bambi: KloK: LOL
Dexter Fong: Wondering Minstrils
stephenfosterkane sometimes wanders down to the harbour in Wickford in summertime, where the town band will be playing real good for free
Boney: Bambi is Fran Parker? Parker's our bird!
Phil Austin: where is wickford? in what state?
Merlyn: Confusion
stephenfosterkane: RI
Bambi: cool! Boney :-)
Dexter Fong: "real good for free" is a quote, Klok?
Boney: excuse me while I mumble incoherently and nod out
Bambi: what kind of bird? we have a pair of cockatiels (Yoda and Padawan, Paddy for short)
stephenfosterkane: it's not a quote, it's a short enough to be legal rip of a lyric, Dex ;-)
Dexter Fong: What i meant, Klok =) but what lyric?
Boney: here's a hint: Clint Eastwood directed the movie
Dexter Fong: Bob Redford Produced it
Bambi: and of course our Root the hacker parlor panther cat
stephenfosterkane: joni mitchell, Dex
Phil Austin: oh, yeah. RI, I remember. I remember seeing your driveway last week in the snow
stephenfosterkane: oh, we had a couple more since then, Phil
Dexter Fong: Driveways?
Phil Austin: snows
||||||||| It's 12:00 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| mac cat - dead from jaundice
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
stephenfosterkane: it's piled up enough now that the right coast may be able to balance all the waterlogging on the left and the whole place won't tilt too much to the left (Dear Leader has been working overtime on that lately...)
Dexter Fong: Camilla Parker-Bowes senses snows
||||||||| Catherwood walks in wearing his pyjamas, yawns, and mumbles "It's midnight here in New York city"...then he falls over and starts snoring loudly..
Bambi: yeah, you'd only need one circular drive...can't get out of it anyway
stephenfosterkane: Phil - (if you have broadband, it's 800K image) http://members.cox.net/~bconverse5/2005_0301Image0002.jpg
cat: the big broadcast of 1976
stephenfosterkane: one of may favorite books, Dex. Don't read anything else by Hoeg...
cat: you have a fave book, klok?
Boney: They canceled school because of heavy snow in Virginia the other day. Calvin & Hobbes were very happy.
Bambi: reading some strange Dean R. Koontz right now...
Boney: Rosebud.
Phil Austin: is the shingled house on the right yours?
Bambi: no snow in our little town in VA this week I am happy to report
cat: downtown daylight savings and loan
Boney: perhaps the cable news reported this to me in error
Phil Austin: bambi: what town in VA?
Bambi: nope...northern VA did get snow
Dexter Fong: Littletown, Va
Bambi: Dendron,...philadendron..mius the phila lol
Boney: People of Alexandria
Dexter Fong: Gateway to the White Trash Mountains
Boney: Daddy, I've lost the Lincoln Logs
Dexter Fong: Here, honey try this Erector set
stephenfosterkane: yeah, cat, smilla's sense of snow
stephenfosterkane: phil - my house isn't in the pic, it's behind the camera
Dexter Fong: It's already got a towel ofver it
Bambi: originally a lumber town gone bust.... http:www.dendron.org>www.dendron.org>http:www.dendron.org
Dexter Fong: A house Cam
Phil Austin: steve: thanks. I like to know what I'm looking at
Dexter Fong wonder's how you build a town when you've already gone bust
Bambi: www.dendronva.org
Bambi: sheesh sorry forgot the va
stephenfosterkane: phil - you can permutate the URL from Image0002 thru 0005 I think and then to 0006smaller and 0007smaller to see 180º (if you're a glutton for punishment fiddling with re-typing URLs...)
||||||||| Catherwood strides up and snorts derisively "Presenting 'Capt. Wayne-O', just granted probation at 12:08 AM", then leaves hurriedly.
Merlyn: a cookbook for a lumber company town - boiled oak, deep-fried birch, poached pine
cat: eric von hitler
Dexter Fong awaits Phils response to Kloks advice
stephenfosterkane: but the main feature is snow. Yech
Bambi: lol...don't laugh, you'd be surprised what they can do with pine nuts and peanuts down here!
stephenfosterkane is about to go out to that big pile and set up a burnt offering to the snow god. nothing else has worked...
Dexter Fong didn't see any snow in Key West
Boney: Bambi, is that a flying saucer in the lumberyard poster?
Capt. Wayne-O: Phil Phil are you there I want to extend my most grateful thanks
Merlyn: snow gods don't go in for burnt offerings, try flash-frozen
Phil Austin: i'm here, accepting thanks
Merlyn: Phil, Capt. Wayne-o is the guy who asked to put up the Roller Maidens clip
Phil Austin: sorry, I've lost track. I'm on the phone
stephenfosterkane: it worked last year, Merlyn -- I put 30¢ in coins and made a snow god and bowed down to it (of course, that was in early April, but...)
Dexter Fong: If it's for me, I've left
Capt. Wayne-O: woah it's like waiting in line at the bank behind Dan Hicks only different I'm not worth to type
Phil Austin: I got lost reading the history of dendron and then the phone rang
stephenfosterkane: just a candle then; I'm to the point I'm thinking about a gasoline-soaked rag this year
Dexter Fong: Klok: You know these things, are we in an El Nino, or La Nina?
Phil Austin: ah, wayne. thanks for thinking of my song
Bambi: lol
Boney: Now you know that everything you know about Dendron, Virginia is wrong.
Phil Austin: is there some other query i've rudely ignored?
Dexter Fong: Hey Man, I know it's the gateway to the White Trash Mountains
Boney: Shall we put our alms around you, Phil?
stephenfosterkane: (sign) I explained that, Dex. The west coast is getting soaked. That would tilt the whole country to the left. Therefore, the east coast has been pummeled with snow on orders of Bush to keep things level.
Merlyn: I don't think so, Phil. Just the usual pandemonium
Phil Austin: evidently the white trash mts. of virginny was clearcut by the surry lumber co.
Dexter Fong: (cosign) That doesn't answer my question, Klok
Capt. Wayne-O: And what a great song it is . . . it tells a story it's really got legs . . . can I sing it at an open mic at the sweetwater
Bambi: I Ijust put up the website for the Dendron Histtorical Society...they provide the content :-)
stephenfosterkane has been broadcasting mental requests to Phil for ½ hr., but can only seem to make his phone ring...
Bambi: yes, quite so Phil
Bambi: and then there was the terrible fire...and a few years back a terrible flood lol
Capt. Wayne-O: Oh I forgot the ?
Merlyn: sounds like a bit from Radio's a Heartbreak
Dexter Fong has been broadcasting mental requests to Phil via sattelitte (the extra "t" is for thee)
Bambi: sounds like a speech by the late John Belushi in The Blues Brothers
Phil Austin: Dendron, the town of Biblical Disasters
Phil Austin: dex: what might these mental requests be?
Dexter Fong: Phil: We need something to promote this burd, how about, "Dendron! Five out of Five Dentists live there"
Dexter Fong: burg
Bambi: lol
cat: did you see the moore theatre footage yet, phil? i'm still wondering who oona is talking to
Phil Austin: Dendron may have some connection with the Dendrolators
cat: the electrician, or....
Phil Austin: cat: sorry, I've got to look at it. can you post the link here?
cat: www.seemreal.com
cat: its the quicktime footage i annoyed everyone in the lobby shooting
cat: i told oona she was beautiful and she came close to swearing at me. i told the kids the same thing and they didnt mind at all
Boney: Everything you know about the Surry Lumber Company in 1921 is wrong.
Capt. Wayne-O: So Phil do you have a C&W CD out? I should know about? I bet I'll end up sound'n stoopid an ya got a whole bunch of 'em out on RHiNO ?!?
cat: bu that's all edited out
cat: squares at the square dance, havin real square fun
stephenfosterkane: cat - well, (not having been there) I enjoyed the heck out of it, but needed your email annotation to sort out whom was who
Dexter Fong: Geeks at the Pi dance, eatim with their thumbs
cat: thats what i'm asking phil for, kllok. i also asked sam by email and merl should surely know.
stephenfosterkane: my ISP is cutting the connection in and out like a crazy monkey for some reason since 12:15AM -- I may vanish or comet or something mysteriously
Bambi: why do you say that Boney? is there a fuondation to that? The Comp'ny researched it and wrote the book on the Surry Lumber Co ... they made and broken Deondron...ripping up everything when they left according to the local historians here.
cat: the rest of the folks are identifited and they should be on the vid. like merl's panoramic pic of the lads in fools in space
Dexter Fong: Cat: get James Earl Junes to narrate it
Bambi: and this is a basically destitute town that never really has taken off since it happened
cat: i can have tittles on the people as they flit by
Dexter Fong: Dear Dad: Maiden Broken. Dragon Slain. Wish to return
stephenfosterkane: the story of many, Bambi -- sometimes they're the best place to be
Dexter Fong: Dendron: If you lived here, you'd be below the Poverty Level
Bambi: yes, Dex
Dexter Fong: Dendron: Food stamp Capitol of The World
stephenfosterkane: ROFL feature in NYT this week of little towns in ND and Idaho trying to attract citizens (not even industry, "Heck, we'll just settle for some people")
Dexter Fong: Klok: I have a Gay Couple hear in the balcony who'd like to relocate toNorth Dakota
Merlyn: a story in the NYT is probably good advertising for them
Capt. Wayne-O: So that was pretty cool I did an e-activity with a life long musical language artist hero of mine brief but memorable . . .
Phil Austin: I'm back, out of touch, but I watched cat''s footage and i'm up to date about the past
stephenfosterkane: juxtaposed with the Salon story about Hammet's Red Harvest -> Yojimbo -> Fistful of Dollars -> Last Man Standing, etc.
Bambi: probably so about the Food stamps .... we aren't on it ... but that's only because we stand on our own feet or fall flat...which is coming....
cat: glamorama soap
stephenfosterkane is glad somebody is ;-)
cat: i read that klok
Dexter Fong: Klok: Theory being Red Harvest is model or something for the other stories?
Phil Austin: cat: if you're referring to who the smiling guy is standing next to oona, that's mike mitchell, a Tacoma music festival promoter and longtime school friend of the Big Blonde
stephenfosterkane: every day in the morning when you get up and crawl out of bed
cat: aha!
cat: thanks, phil
cat: how is her job going with jared?
stephenfosterkane: yeah, but it's ROFL -- United Artists' lawyer sent a letter to studio doing Last Man Standing, warning them that they were stealing their intellectual property
Phil Austin: Mike has suffered lately from a series of ailments having to do with being covered with agent orange in nam. but he's good now
stephenfosterkane: (this after UA got sued when Leone insisted that Fistful of Dollars was not a reprise of Yojimbo)
Merlyn: Capt wayne, were you going to copy the Roller Maidens clip onto your own website? I was going to delete it, but it looks like you're just linking to firesigntheatrelegacy.com
Dexter Fong: Klok: Can see relationship between last three easily, but haven't read Red H for many years
Bambi: that crap was responsible for my uncle Jack dying of a spinal tumor apparently Phil ... he was in the Marines and volunteered for three terms there and now he's gone...
cat: how hideous, phil
Phil Austin: bamb. yeah, mike was hit pretty hard with various cancers. He's just one of the nicest people I know
stephenfosterkane: but Kirosawa seems to have insisted that Yojimbo was not a setting of Red Harvest...and of course, there's probably someone representing Shakespeare in contact with the Hammet estate...
Bambi: I bet ... I really miss my Uncle Jack...he was one of the nicest folks you'd ever meet...very caring
Phil Austin: cat: incidental info. the guy in the cowboy hat that you see in several frames is my friend James who is one of the top pistol shooters in the country
Dexter Fong: Well, pretty soon we can forget all that and concentrate on the Iraq vets with depleted Uranioum problems
cat: wow
cat: doc took some pix of y'all takin pix of y'all. quite the tribe, phil
stephenfosterkane: Dex - I didn't even know about the story until the article, guess I better read it. About some really burned-out mining town in the West. Oh yeah, and now it's being literally staged as Deadwood
Dexter Fong: A Tribe called Phil
Phil Austin: It was fun meeting Lily after all the times I'd chatted with her here. And you and bunnyboy and doc and merlyn made it all seem like old times
cat: it was great fun for all, phil
Dexter Fong: Klok: Deadwood really was a burned out mining town =)
Capt. Wayne-O: Gosh I sure wish I had the Grantster by my side . . . he takes care of more techical matters of RanchoBozo.com I just text edit and manage a few pictures from zope make pages and links that's all Merlyn . . . sorry
Merlyn: capt, I don't think it'll take up much bandwidth, but I'd like to move it into the albums directory at least
Merlyn: I should have put it there to start with, but I thought you'd just download it and I'd erase it
Merlyn: I'll just send you email when I move it
Dexter Fong: ;
Dexter Fong: we seem stuck here
stephenfosterkane: ?
Dexter Fong: '
Dexter Fong: '
Bambi: yes, we do huh?
Merlyn: ¥
Dexter Fong: What?
stephenfosterkane: yes, I have a yen for it, too
Bambi: well, guess I will call it a night... great to see you Phil! ... and everyone else too!
Boney: driftwood
Dexter Fong: Here! Meet Spinny Yenny
Capt. Wayne-O: it's OK I was planning just to get them off the album when the Grantster gets back anyway so do what ever you see fit . . . It's cool and there's no rush . . . I want to do a seemless job with it we'll communicate . . . cool? so do what ever you want to do OK
Bambi: see ya next time
stephenfosterkane: nite Bambi
Merlyn: ok capt. see you next week, bambi
Dexter Fong: Night Bambi...thanks for the programs
Boney: Nite
stephenfosterkane: the € is a better investment right now, though
Bambi: our pleasure ! See ya next week...don't forget the sometimes live and sometimes replays on the weekend too.
Dexter Fong: I'm investing in beans
Phil Austin: night bamb
stephenfosterkane: ...if you like pictures of bridges
Merlyn: €pean ¥tl
stephenfosterkane: there's our theme again...
Boney: €uro
Dexter Fong: Geaff, Beau?
Bambi: night Phil :-)
||||||||| At 12:38 AM, Bambi vanishes mysteriously -- just as Nino the Mind Boggler predicted!
Dexter Fong Thinks Nino is a frog er um fraud
Merlyn: hey, he predicted Bambi, didn't he?
Dexter Fong: Merl: No, he reported on her leaving
||||||||| At 12:39 AM, Capt. Wayne-O vanishes mysteriously -- just as Nino the Mind Boggler predicted!
Phil Austin: he didn't mean to predict bambi, he likes it that way
stephenfosterkane: maybe it was Nino who made Phil's phone ring and not me after all...
Dexter Fong: Hah! Latge again Nino, you charlatan
Merlyn: I saw a license plate yesterday that said "GOZTO11"
||||||||| With a theatrical clearing of his throat, Catherwood pipes up: "12:40 AM and late as usual, it's Captain Wayne-O, just back from Billville."
Dexter Fong: Klok: Maybe Nino heard your thought and contacted Phil
Phil Austin: hey, merlyn. has the captain been here before, or is this a first appearance?
Phil Austin: ah, he's back. I'll ask him myself
Dexter Fong: That's two appearances
stephenfosterkane: first by that gnicky-name
Phil Austin: hey, captain. on your website, is that your boat?
stephenfosterkane: he'll be wanting a higher position on the playbill, next
Dexter Fong: Ahoy, out rigger..where are you going...."Out! Rigging"
Captain Wayne-O: Hi I'm back and this evening was the first time for me here
Phil Austin: merl: was the license plate a spinal tap ref?
cat: i finally get to meet mr. riggs in may, dex, along with you
Merlyn: I'm certain, Phil
stephenfosterkane: dex - you shouldn't speak to the riggers: they get to charge the venue extra time for that
Phil Austin: to me, that's still the best chris guest joke of alltime
Dexter Fong: Noworries, Mate..pre-recorded msge
Captain Wayne-O: That boat is my Captain Dog Boy of Morro Bay I do sleep there no occasion
Merlyn: Cat, I still haven't gotten Bambi's RTF file that she sent to you and cc'd to me. Can you forward it to me? Did you get it?
cat: i'll check, merl. and you can send it to phil
Phil Austin: captain: you mean it's dogboy's boat?
Dexter Fong: away for refill and empty
Merlyn: It's a funny joke, and the "goes to 11" line is recognized pretty easily
Captain Wayne-O: aye Phil
Phil Austin: I guess I should say Dr. Dogboy
Merlyn: Cat: Phil A?
stephenfosterkane has returned with a full bottle, so can fight on while D is reprovisioning
Phil Austin: So, Captain. You're a musician and you live in marin somewhere?
cat: hmm. i dont have a mail receptor on teh mac. i should have thought of that
stephenfosterkane: of course! the terror of the Golden Hind Boatel! I knew it!
Captain Wayne-O: That's right we have had many adventures of many years
Boney: Is Dr Wayne-0 one of the Marx Brothers?
cat: i didnt get anyting on the dell either
Boney: O
Merlyn: Maybe there's a delay on bambi's end.
stephenfosterkane: Boney - I had one of their trains and loved it
Phil Austin: the captain's website is Ranchobozo
stephenfosterkane: they're on dial-up, unless they get a bulldozer and a reel of fiber optix or something, Merlyn
Captain Wayne-O: Yes that's right Phil I write a little diddy and sing some songs and grow stiff gray hair out my ears
Phil Austin: p. diddy
Boney: I think I like 'Dr Wayne Zero' better.
cat: i'd rather p daily
Dexter Fong: He's syndicated in Britain as Doctor Wayne Nought
Boney: diddly is what he gets paid.
stephenfosterkane: LOL
cat: ok, lead me to the spic
Captain Wayne-O: Bo diddy hey wayne O yeah I can do something with that
Captain Wayne-O: I mean zero
Dexter Fong: Announcing Bo and P Diddley
Dexter Fong: The Squat brothers
Boney: Dig in, Captain Wayne-O, it's GNLed.
Phil Austin: playing squat tag in the p patch
Dexter Fong: Playing Bean Ball in the squash court
stephenfosterkane: is that like what happened to A&P after it went bankrupt?
Boney: GPLed. frickin typos
Captain Wayne-O: Phil I am so honored you visited Rancho Bozo wait till I tell Grantster
Dexter Fong: Klok: No, it transmogrified into Food Emporium
Boney: Gnu Nautical License? Gnu Nacho License?
Merlyn: capt, tell grantster to add the firesign webring code.
Dexter Fong: Naughty Nacho's! No liscense required
Dexter Fong: I listened to the secret webring code...it said to buy Ovaltine
Phil Austin: captain: well, thanks for showing interest in my music, such as it is
cat: this sounds a lot like exorcism in your daily life
cat: a cordless electric bicentennial radio
Boney: phil plays a mean guitar
Dexter Fong: Gosh Dad! What's bean ball to me or to 8anybody*
Dexter Fong: Boney: He's not mean to it, the band likes it like that
Phil Austin: beans again
cat: i loved the music he did on eobe
cat: not sure what else.
Boney: has agent orange ever been performed on MTV? If not, why not?
cat: both Fumiyo and Bit really liked the music on Roller Maidens
cat: come on jesus, show yourself, a household joke anthem
Dexter Fong: I too, always liked how it both underlined and foreshadowed the plot
Boney: no other song paints a better portrait of life here in the burbs
Phil Austin: bone: one of the odd things abut agent orange the song is that the guitar on it is Jeff Baxter who in his later years has become a right-wing nutcase of sorts
cat: ive notticed that, phil. alas
Dexter Fong: Phil: skunk works?
Boney: like Jack Kerouac, Phil?
cat: i heard him interviewed on local radio telling a tale about trying to talk to gorbachev about missiles and all gorby wanted to talk abvout was his licks on my old school
stephenfosterkane: or Ted Nugent. wait, he always was...
Dexter Fong: Gorby *is* old school
cat: yeah kerouac sort of drank himself into a flag draped corner.
Phil Austin: hell of a guitar player, though
Dexter Fong: Garage Dictatorship
cat: some of the best licks i've ever heard, phil. gorby was right
Dexter Fong: Cat: Kerous was a troubled soul, indeed
cat: time for jimmy clicker's low down on the headlines
stephenfosterkane: isn't there an old saw about the liberals becoming cast-iron republicans and the neo-nazis becoming socialists in their dotage?
Boney: So you didn't play an instrument?
Dexter Fong: Klok: never saw that
Phil Austin: cat: another duck joke, jimmy clicker.
Merlyn: I played an old saw
cat: his parents put him down for not being his sainltly older brother.
cat: i dont get it
Captain Wayne-O: So all of us Firesign enthusiasts can visit all the webrings too . . . give suburbian cowboy and canadian princess a click and listen
Boney: Neither did Frank Sinatra.
Dexter Fong: Phil: Ducks are as funny as sheep...but harder to dress up
cat: oh my duck his pants dissappeared
Dexter Fong: Cat: Try " Oh my sheep, his pants disappeared"
Merlyn: Or Buddy Hackett and Mickey Rooney in "Scuttlebutt the Duck"
cat: fargo north, decoder
Dexter Fong: A War comedy in 3 acts
cat: this is brilliaint, phil
Phil Austin: cat: I meant that the best J. Clicker I remember is about the duck running for president, I think
stephenfosterkane: four saints in 3 acts?
cat: i'm listengin tto the big broadcast of 76, phil
Dexter Fong: two of them unatural, one of them against the Vatica
||||||||| At 1:00 AM, Captain Wayne-O vanishes mysteriously -- just as Nino the Mind Boggler predicted!
||||||||| Catherwood enters the room, strikes a gong, and bellows "THE TIME IN NEW YORK IS 1 O'CLOCK", then silently exits.
Dexter Fong: n
cat: you're still pope of all vats, i can....
Phil Austin: what's the big broadcast of 76?
cat: your cd with ossman
Dexter Fong: Hollywood Madhouse?
Boney: bootleg, I guess
Phil Austin: cat: ahhhhh. I forgot that's what that was called.
Dexter Fong: Nope, Firezine production...well maybe
Dexter Fong: Fred will no doubt castigate me
cat: george l tirebiter presents the big broadcast of 1976 feturing phil austin
Boney: Phil, will you autograph my bootleg CDs and MP3s?
Dexter Fong: Sign 'em, with love and respect, Jesus
Phil Austin: boneboy: do i autograph mp3's by just waving a pen vaguely in the air?
Boney: Jesus is GPLed.
Dexter Fong: Wave it purposefully
Phil Austin: I'll autograph anything,
Boney: Touchscreen.
Dexter Fong: Jesus! Now appearing on Just All Right Records and CDs
stephenfosterkane: Phil -- you can probably insert some kind of watermark just like the record companies do
Boney: Or you can use my WACOM digital pen and tablet.
Phil Austin: bone: omigod. I too use a wacom pen and tablet
Dexter Fong: Jesus WACOM MOle...Kill'em quick
Boney: I'm 100% digital
Phil Austin: once you get used to it, it beats a mouse to shit (don't try this at home)
stephenfosterkane has no wacom pen and tablet and immediately feels inadequate and not part of the 'in' crowd...
Phil Austin: steve: dpm
stephenfosterkane has often beat his mouse to shit, which can be expensive
Dexter Fong waves purposefully to Klok to reassure him, that it's his presence not his belongings we value
Phil Austin: steve: my mistake. dpm means nothing. I've probably opened up this discussion to far too many mouseturd jokes
Boney: my cat wants to beat a bouncing animated Linux screen saver to shit... the mouse doesn't interest him at all
cat: do i have to learn a new technology?
Dexter Fong: Cat: Of course!
stephenfosterkane has no idea
Phil Austin: if i recall correctly, catman, the wacom company is in Vancouver. Washington, that is.
Dexter Fong: We are all doomed to learn new technology till we're digitally disassembled and stored in cryogenic mayonaisse jsrs
Boney: Japanese.
stephenfosterkane considered buying replacement mouse balls, but in the end, at least went optical
Dexter Fong: Japonese Jars
cat: the older i get, the harder that is for me to do. and i'm MUCH younger than you and the firesigns and other still youthful souls
Phil Austin: here's an odd question out of the blue: is anyone here familiar with ghost in the shell?
Dexter Fong: The Legend of the Killer Copnch?
Dexter Fong: Conch
Boney: WACOM is Japanese.
stephenfosterkane: AT Cross is just up the road here, maybe I'll mosey up there and see if I can't get the ne plus ultra of pens. As for the tablet, maybe I'll just take one...
Phil Austin: it's an anime, i thnk originally a three-parter, but shown on CN in 22 min installemnts late at night
Dexter Fong: The new Gel tablets are good but they gum up your pen something fierce
stephenfosterkane: Phil - is that some variant on deus ex machina or something? Dunno
Boney: My Graphire is made in Taiwan.
Merlyn: I'm slightly familiar with Ghost in the Shell, phil
Dexter Fong: My Eagle's No. 2 1/2 are made in Morgan town West by god Virginnie
Phil Austin: merl: worth looking at, very strange in fact. a future world where almost everyone is cyborgian or androidian in some way or other.
Boney: It's getting hard to find Japanese products that are made in Japan.
Phil Austin: hey, catski: Was fumiyo in japan on her trip?
stephenfosterkane: The year is 2029. The world has become intensively information oriented and humans are well-connected to the network. Crime has developed into a sophisticated stage by hacking into the interactive network. To prevent this, Section 9 is formed. These are cyborgs with incredible strengths and abilities that can access any network on Earth.
Merlyn: that part is pretty typical anime
Dexter Fong: I figure in about 175 years, the outsourcing will come all the way around the world and back to us
Merlyn: Now, the really weird japanese show on cartoon network is Super Milk Chan
Boney: We'll be able to do phone support again! O joy!
stephenfosterkane: Phil - IMDB to the rescue: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0113568/
cat: fumiyo is in japan now, phil. she returns on saturday.
Phil Austin: yeah, and the weirdest part is the charactor called The Major, the babe with few clothes. Except at one point another sec. nine guy asks "her" if it wouldn't be better for her job if she'd ordered the male body
Dexter Fong: And work on Powerful Antiseptic Assembly line
cat: i dont think icy will ever forgive her for leaving for a week. but he'll have to
Phil Austin: merl: you dumbass
Phil Austin: merl: I can't tell you how O and I have fallen in love with milk-chan. I am definitely the president
Dexter Fong wonders what Merlyn said to recieve such accolation
Merlyn: I had the flu and a temperature of about 102° when I first saw that show about 3-4 weeks ago, though I was hallucinating
Dexter Fong Has supersized milk shake many times
Phil Austin: merlyn admired Super Milk Chan on cartoon netwoork late at night
Phil Austin: We now regularly say to each other: Let's go eat sushi ... or something
cat: not something we get here
Boney: I haven't yet visited the Guitar Museum in nearby Corona, California. Maybe someday there will be a museum for sacred digital tablets.
Merlyn: I looked at some web sites, and apparently they even have to clean up some of the dialog for translation on CN
cat: doc played sealab for me when he was here. superb
cat: but most of your cartoons dont make it into canada
Phil Austin: and i guess there are dvds available
Dexter Fong: And Moses said to the assembled masses "00010110001110100111100" and they did yawn
cat: yeah,m he played me the sealab dvd. i discovered 6 fet under on dvd.
stephenfosterkane: you don't get the cartoon network, Cat?
Phil Austin: yeah, sealab is quite strange. The bizarro episode for instance,
cat: maybe the best people as opposed to animated characters show i've seen in a long time
cat: we havw a different one here, klok. canuck cartoons. they make a giant sucking sound
Merlyn: or being controlled by a squirrel in your brain
Phil Austin: aqua teen hunger force continues to be very strange, but NOTHING beats super milk chan for sheer oddness
stephenfosterkane: some of them are quite good, Cat!
cat: i await the dvds
Merlyn: SMC is sort of a parody of anime
Boney: http://www.fendermuseum.com/
Dexter Fong: It's time for parting little Buckaroos...you saddle up, and I'll lie down with the school marm,,,,so long till next time
Phil Austin: evidently the dvds have the original japanese voice tracks as well as the english "translations" we see
stephenfosterkane: goodnight, Dex
Phil Austin: or hear
Dexter Fong: Night Fire Friends
cat: elayne mentioned harry shearer on her blog and i commented that le show is the most consistant one-man hilarity in america, on a par with gary trudeau and zippy and others you guys know as you live there
||||||||| Rotonoto enters at 1:20 AM as Catherwood takes their hat and goat and runs off to the Haberdashery Barn.
cat: hi roto
stephenfosterkane: the house controller is gonna catch up with me shortly and start cutting all the lights off
Rotonoto: hi cat, hi guise
Dexter Fong: Dexter cannot depart with out gretting Roto
Merlyn: nite dex
cat: hope to meet you in dc. my friends still havent told me where they live. perhaps that's intentional
Dexter Fong: greeting
stephenfosterkane: wow, good 2 CU Roto!
Rotonoto: just a quick check of computer over at Bozoette's
Dexter Fong: Night then
Rotonoto: I still owe you an email cat, one is soon coming...
cat: are you prisoner in a dormitory, klok?
Rotonoto: nite to dex if you leaving
stephenfosterkane: she has a herd of computers? interesting
Rotonoto: hi brian
Boney: no curfew on the internet... if they think they can kick me off, they're cra
Rotonoto: hi phil, welcome back
stephenfosterkane: no, Cat, but the controller is more or less inflexible. I can turn them back on, but it's set to turn them off again a little later. I have to keep fighting it until after 2:30AM or replug lamps
Phil Austin: hi, roto
cat: front welcome too. sides, well....
cat: i have no idea of which you speak, klok, as usual in techland
stephenfosterkane: it does that so I'll get my beauty sleep...
Rotonoto: I'm introducing my friend Bozoette to FST, she is a slow study LOL!
Rotonoto: (she's laughing)
cat: with firesign, that would be the rule, roto
Rotonoto: she always says "I don't get it", I keep trying to tell her about 33-1/3 listens...
stephenfosterkane: simple, cheap gizmo cat. puts most anything that plugs in a socket under remote control. i actually have a remote control i can carry around, but seems kinda weird
Phil Austin: slow studying is safe studying
cat: after playing firesign stuff on the radio over many years heard by millions of people, i would say i may have made as many new fans for the firesign as i have fingers . hey, careful with that ax
Rotonoto: nite to klok if he's leaving
stephenfosterkane: shortly
stephenfosterkane: there went the computer room lamp...
Rotonoto: Roto does wood splitting for Bozoette using home-repaired axe
stephenfosterkane: after a random 0-5 min. delay, the hall light goes too...
cat: i'm coming over shortly, because i am a portly, you told me you could fit me in the latest double knits
Rotonoto: so far have not axed myself anything
Rotonoto: but I know tha answer
stephenfosterkane: Bozette: axe repair not something I trust...
stephenfosterkane: ching!
Boney: saw Harry Shearer on cable tv talking about Chuck Jones
stephenfosterkane: OK, folks, it's been real, but it's real...dark now. Goodnight alles!!
Rotonoto: way cool- a fiberglass and plastic handle, laboriously carved to fit odd head, then epoxied in place...
Phil Austin: I'm gone. Night all. Real Gone. Daddio
||||||||| At 1:29 AM, Phil Austin runs out the door saying "Hey, mister ice-cream man, I've got a nickel, wait for meeeee..."
||||||||| At 1:29 AM, stephenfosterkane vanishes mysteriously -- just as Nino the Mind Boggler predicted!
Rotonoto: way out man- see you phil
cat: by phil
Rotonoto: bye
Rotonoto: we shrinketh...
Boney: Nite
||||||||| It's 1:30 AM, and that means it's time to play BEAT THE REAPER! And here's how our contestants did:
||||||||| Dexter Fong - dead from the fiddlers
||||||||| Better luck next time! And now, back to our chatroom, which is already in progress...
Merlyn: Bye phil
||||||||| Boney is defenestrated just as the clock strikes 1:30 AM.
Merlyn: me go too, just waiting for phil...
||||||||| At 1:30 AM, Merlyn vanishes mysteriously -- just as Nino the Mind Boggler predicted!
||||||||| cat departs at 1:30 AM, singing "Toad away, toad away; toad away, toad away! Where do you go when you're toad away?"
Rotonoto: nite cat, I'll email you soon...
Rotonoto: get your hands off me, I'm a newsman, I gotta find out- Reeeebusssss!
||||||||| Rotonoto runs out the back door as Mayor P'nisnose blasts through the front door holding a shotgun and shouting "Where's Rotonoto?! It's 1:32 AM and my ballot boxes haven't been stuffed yet!"
||||||||| Catherwood enters, and announces to all and sundry "It's 4:32 AM, time to change the log file and clean out unused rooms; please exit the chat room for a minute or two. Thank you for your patience."
